Sex & Nudity

  • A germaphobic man tells one underage child to remove her top and another child to remove her skirt when they get dirty. The first walks around wearing a bra and skirt and the other walks around wearing a crop top and underwear for a good part of the film.
  • Dennis (OCD) was banned from the "light" due to watching videos of underaged girls dancing naked (this is discussed, not showed).
  • A very abstract painting of a group of nude women is shown for a couple seconds, but being an abstract painting, little to no actual sensitive details can be made out
  • Casey character shows a good amount of cleavage from the middle of the film until the end.

Violence & Gore

  • In several sequences of the film, a young girl is implied to be abused several times.
  • A pretty bloody and big wound is clearly behind the protagonist's leg. Pretty graphic.
  • A young girl points a shotgun to a man.
  • There is a offscreen act of cannibalism. We see the aftermath of one victim briefly, with her intestines visible.
  • Theres another scene where a female gets pulled away and cannibalism strongly implied.
  • There is a scene of a female character shooting a man, with the sight of some wounds visible on the man's body.

Profanity

  • "Fuck" is uttered once in a very tense scene.
  • "Fuck" is used around 3 times, once when Jade is cut off from saying "motherfucker," once when the beast says "fuck," and once at the end when Hedwig comically says "fucking."
  • A character says "Mother-fu-" you will understand when you see the movie why it's cut off and a couple of uses of the s-word. Half a dozen or so other profanities include "hell," "ass," "damn," and "bitch."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A brief scene of cigarette smoking
  • A scene takes place inside of a bar where people are consuming alcohol.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The whole movie has an intense and dark feel to it and a sense of dread coming. The final 20 minutes are especially frightening.
  • There is one extremely disgusting and disturbing scene of violence. A lot of blood is shown.
  • There is an especially disturbing scene of cannibalism while the victim is still alive. Nothing is graphically shown but the psychological impact and what *is* shown will be enough to cause lingering upset to many viewers.
  • Predator scenarios are consistent throughout the movie.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A man drugs and kidnaps three young women and confines them to a locked room. When they regain consciousness he enters the room and inspects the women. He chooses one of them and drags her out of the room. The sounds of her attempting to resist his actions are audible while most may think this is him sexually assaulting her she comes out and says "he wanted me to dance for him." Although this is literally the only scene close to him doing anything like this
  • It had been discussed that Barry (fashion designer) had two girls 17 or 18 put both of his hands under each of their shirts. Which traumatized him.
  • The most disturbing scene in the movie is a flash back of one of the girls who's uncle sexually abused her she is shown as a kid and he is shown with his shirt off and tells her to "play animals." With her and says "animals don't wear their clothes." The girl walks to the man unzipping her jacket and we are assumed to think something horrible goes down although the scene ends when she walks to him
  • A split personality of James McAvoy's character does a dance while sitting infront of Anya Taylor-Joy's character which includes some suggestive sounds.
  • There's just one very awkward kissing scene.
  • Heavily implied that Casey's uncle SA'd her in the woods as he tells her to take off all her clothes as he makes it seem like its a fun game to play. Scene cuts out to nature nothing is shown or heard.
  • A man is seen on all fours behind a rock, presumedly naked, telling a little girl to take off her clothes so she can pretend to be an animal, telling her animals do not wear clothes. She is shown with her hands on her jacket zipper, but the scene changes just as she begins to unzip the jacket. It is possible he sexually assaulted the child, as the man is then shown fully dressed but buttoning his top, and the girl is shown fully dressed but her jacket is not longer on.

Violence & Gore

  • There is an extremely disturbing scene of cannibalism that shows no blood or gore but since the human is still alive when the act starts, the mental impact is quite disturbing.
  • One of the stronger scenes depicts a man wrapping his arms around an older woman and breaking her bones while suffocating her. There are closeup shots of the man's arms around the victim's stomach, and shots of her face as she gasps. Though it is not seen, it's quite disturbing.
  • The antagonist sees one 17 year old girl with knife-cuts scars on her stomach (near her navel), by her shoulders, and other parts of her body. Implying that she has been inflicting knife cuts all over her body. This is a sign of mental health issues resulting in self-harm.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Beast will definitely scare younger audiences and oozes blood or an unknown substance from his mouth.
