The Anime of Thrones
thomasstevelink2 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What an enjoyable anime, I was completely surprised that I had never heard of this one before, it's filled with emotion, action, drama and much more.

The Plot/Story was amazing, we actually start off with a powerful kingdom and the kind prince, his maiden battle should be memorable and it sure was! A complete defeat although I did see it coming, it was needed for the show to go like it did. Prince Hilmes is an amazing character with a good backstory and clear ideals, he is almost exactly the opposite of our protagonist Arslan. One is physically skilled, strategical mastermind and tends to use his people for his own benefit who doesn't necessarily inspire his men and the other one is physically pretty weak however he is kind and just, Noble and raises the morale of his men and causes devotion. The greatest conversation was probably during episode 24, with Lord Sam and Lord Kishward. Their conversation had the morals of both side and they both had their reasons for following their princes, the emotion from the voice actors was great.

The Music, in my honest opinion this is definitely one of the anime with the better soundtracks, it used them at the good time and it helped implement power for the scenes a lot

The Tactics and Strategies, sometimes they clearly gave away what might happened but most of the times they gave a fraction, you knew something was going to happen however you didn't know it for sure and I loved it. I was sitting on the edge of my chair every time the strategies came into play

The Characters, The bond between the characters had good development. Each one of them had their reasons to question why they followed Arslan and the moment where they decided that he was the right king. The characters had good comedic relieve at the right times and was not forced. Some minor characters in the beginning were forgettable however it did give a clear few of rankings.

Historical Accuracy, now I am not the best historian however there were definitely some historical accurate things as in the terms used in ranks and combat was based off or straight from the Middle East (Persia). The recruits were untrained and fought with spears and shields which were easier to handle back in those eras. The Armors were usually pretty realistic except for the fancy looking armors of some of the higher ups, Armor had actual effect sometimes which is also nice to see. Not going to talk about the magic or the easily throwing multiple people away or Bahadur. I felt Bahadur was kind of a let down, that was certainly not expected nor appreciated.

The Animation and Scenery, the main animations was pretty good, the fighting animations of the armies was pretty crappy CGI. However the one on one were good, not great but good. They used a bit too many cuts for those duels. The scenery was amazing tho, it looked great and Almost hand drawn.

This anime was great in my opinion and I'll give it a 8/10

Beautiful Medieval Theme War Drama
mayank098761 January 2018
I really enjoy medieval themed animation and as it is there are very few of them around, so got into watching Arslan Senki with a high expectation and it didn't disappoint. The story is full of intrigue, huge military battles, tactics and twist and turns. I loved the culture setting & geography, the civilizations and culture were similar to Persia and Indian Subcontinent, an area mostly ignored by the animation industry. The plot revolves around conquest of a kingdom by use of treachery and a little bit of magic. Add to it hints of regicide, fratricide, conflict between father, son, nephew and other multiple sides in wanting the throne of Parse, we have a Game of Thrones kind of situation only suitable for the 15 years age bracket. The focus is on a timid prince who gets support from heroic personalities of the kingdom due to his kind-hearted characteristic.

The supporting characters are varied and nice, the protagonist has a lot of character development over the seasons making It feel right. The camera angles used in battles are masterful, taking in the whole battle from bird-eye view to one person action, the action sequences and tactics feel realistic. The animation itself is decent, not the best I have seen but good enough. The music, on the other hand, is soulful, perfectly complimenting the different situations.

I really loved the anime only problem the second season had ended in cliffhanger without any new stories to come yet.

CGI Battles Done Right.
skgaiseric25 January 2016
Arslan Senki is fantastic tale of a young prince trying to reclaim his throne. Masterful story telling and good character development make this one of highlights of 2015. I found it enjoyable start to finish and left me hanging for the second season.

The real stand out of this series is the art and soundtrack, which are both rich and beautiful - giving the series a very magical feeling that really makes the legend of Arslan come to life.

This is the first time I have seen CGI battle scenes that didn't not look clunky (*cough Berserk movies) and has set a very high new standard in anime. You get the first person camera zooming through the battlefield and birds-eye shots of 100's of thousands of soldiers engaged in war which is so impressive at times you wonder how it can get much better.

Highly recommended.

Unique Anime
karthickcrysis20 October 2015
one of the finest anime, It provides it's viewers with incredible characters, a deep storyline The plot is simple enough to start:successful and brilliant Daryn and Nauru's characters are perfect you will find reviews which say that the second half of the show is not good, but that is just half the truth.first off the show starts off brilliantly This anime can be wrapped up kinda of gud Okay so the beginning started out with a first episode that I can only compare as, perhaps, almost as powerfully grabbing better. Seriously it was great, then it followed up strong and kept it going good until it starts to make you wonder how there going to keep it going around half way and waiting for season two

Same old same old

Warning: Spoilers
First the story moves faster than time itself, sieges and character movement in the map last less than 1 month apparently first few episodes a lot happened between october and december of the year 320. Heros/Main characters of the story at one point can't die or suffer a bit. The best strategist can leave a castle with decoys dodge a besieging army and arrive LATE at the battle with already built in weapons to kill elephants placed strategically. Don't know what's more boring looking at the story with crazy strategies just for Narsus to uncover everything and always win, or the characters single handly kill 100 enemy paper soldiers.

It was great
rezaghasemipoorafshar3 March 2022
As an Iranian, many of the builders of this anime may we show such a good effect Just saw a debug in this anime and I had the ancient Iranians left slavery after the kingdom of the Great Cyrus (600 BC) Finally, the strength of this work is to showcase the crimes and the destruction of Iran's rich culture by the enemies of Iran, especially Alexander and Omar Ibn Khatab.

An attractive anime with the most similarities to the history of Iran compared to Hollywood
poopooloosoo4 September 2022
It was a very beautiful anime. I wish it continues. Apart from the clothes of some characters and geographical issues, this anime was fantastic. In fact, he displayed the outstanding issues of the entire history of ancient Iran on the way to Arsalan. I request the makers of this film to continue it. I would like to finally witness the events of Ecbatana (Hamedan). The confrontation between the three members of the royal family and the war with Lusitania should last for a few more seasons. Now that the manga of this story has continued, there is no reason to stop this masterpiece, my only goal was to request you to revive this anime...

Pretty entertaining for young pips.
Bunuelisto17 January 2020
Here we have the usual growing up story of a prince, despite the crumbling of its Kingdom, he has to grow up thanks to the father's figures he meets and relies on. As the beginning unveils it, it is mostly an epic fantasy, nevertheless don't expect too much of the fantasy side.

Drawing is ok but not much, we have as most animes, the epic sceneries on the background but far from mesmerising. Regarding the characters's drawing, usual for the genre but not my taste but fitting the whole.

The story as revealed turns around the growing up, meeting others, learn etc.. Plot is revolving on this, and the quest of its hero relying on tactics (not much there). So not complex.

To sum up, it is a usual, that might make the trick, but mostly forgettable.

There is an 8 episodes follow up, same quality.

Compared to original mini-series, this show sucks. It is too immature, filled with unnecessary fan-service, characters less cool and realistic.
