In a competitive situation, Vendôme Pictures, the Oscar-winning banner behind “Coda,” has optioned the film and television rights to John Vaillant’s nonfiction book about climate change “Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World.”
It comes after the book was released to much acclaim in June 2023 and went on to win the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. It was also a finalist for the 2023 National Book Award, and was named a best book of the year by The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Financial Times and The Guardian, among many other prominent publications.
Vaillant took readers halfway through the hottest year of the hottest decade in recorded history, as a new kind of fire introduced itself to the world. The author examines the multi-billion-dollar disaster in Fort McMurray, the hub of Canada’s oil industry and America’s biggest foreign supplier, which melted vehicles, turned houses...

Salman confirmed at an event saying he had heard a one-liner story of the film, but Sanjay hasn’t picked up his calls since then, and he jokingly asked the media to ask the director to speak with him. Katrina Kaif Once Miffed Aditya Chopra So Much That The Filmmaker Dropped Her Name From A Film (Picture Credit: IMDb & Wikimedia)
Katrina Kaif has been a diva, and reports about her rumored fallouts, fights, and tantrums have been constant once upon a time. During the 2000s, she made her debut and struggled to make her mark until Salman Khan took her under her wings. Interestingly, she firmly paved her way in non-Salman films and shot to superstardom once she was picked by Yrf.
Kat did five roaring hits with the production house, starting with New York, followed by Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ek Tha Tiger, and Dhoom 3. Interestingly, directors of New York and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Kabir Khan, and Ali Abbas Zafar connected with Kat dearly, so much so that they turned her Rakhi brothers.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fargo Year 5, Episode 5, “The Tiger.”] Fargo‘s latest episode, “The Tiger,” saw Dot Lyon’s (Juno Temple) two worlds collide as her abusive first husband Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm) sought help from her current icy mother-in-law Lorraine Lyon (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Thinking he could use his powers of persuasion, the sheriff was less than productive in retrieving Dot from Lorraine’s clutches as both were unaware of the woman’s own escape attempt from the local hospital’s psychiatric ward. Setting forth the facts in his eyes, Roy tells Lorraine that Dot owes him a debt, something she should understand, and as his “property” should be returned. Lorraine isn’t one to be metaphorically man-handled though, flipping Roy’s argument on its head by informing the sheriff that after something goes missing for seven years, it no longer has an owner, and if they’re basing things on technicalities, it...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fargo Year 5, Episode 5, “The Tiger.”] Fargo‘s latest installment, “The Tiger,” dips back into the anthology’s storytelling through narration with a rather familiar voice. Waking up in mother-in-law Lorraine Lyon’s (Jennifer Jason Leigh) home, Dot (Juno Temple) is greeted by some uniformed men and lawyer Danish Graves (Dave Foley), who intend to commit her as a psychiatric patient at the local hospital. A narrator chronicles the unfolding events as if the scene were from a nature documentary, categorizing Dot as a Tiger who is both defensive and protective of her young. But who is the individual steering viewers along on this Minnesota safari? It’s none other than Jason Schwartzman, who appeared as Josto Fadda, the son of a mob boss in Fargo Year 4. And he isn’t the first alum to return to the anthology as a narrator, with Billy Bob Thornton previously returning for Year 3’s...

Following the tragic passing of Gaspard Ulliel, one of the projects he was attached to has found a new actor. 1917 star George MacKay will now lead Bertrand Bonello’s The Beast alongside Léa Seydoux, Variety reports. Set to begin in August, the decades-spanning dystopian romance thriller is set in both Paris and California and will film in French and English. “Set in the near future where emotions have become a threat,” the synopsis reads, “Seydoux stars as Gabrielle, a woman who has finally decided to purify her DNA in a machine that will immerse her in her past lives and rid her of any strong feelings. "The Northman" star Alexander Skarsgård is teaming up with Dane DeHaan, producer Darren Aronofsky, and Ukrainian writer-director Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi for "The Tiger," a film adaptation of the bestselling book by John Vaillant. As Amleth in "The Northman," Skarsgård may be eager to avenge his father, save his mother, and kill his uncle Fjölnir, but his character in "The Tiger" will be considerably less eager to hunt a tiger that killed a poacher in self-defense.
"The Tiger" is based on "a true story of vengeance of survival," as the subtitle calls it. Variety reports that Skarsgård will star in it as "the leader of a group of men tasked with protecting the endangered cats...

Alexander Skarsgard will star in “The Tiger” as the leader of a group of men tasked with protecting the endangered cats from poachers and loggers.
The actor recently headlined the blood-drenched viking epic “The Northman,” receiving a great deal of attention for his physical transformation into a chiseled Norse avenger. He will team here with Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi, who wrote and will direct “The Tiger” based on the book by John Vaillant. Slaboshpytskyi previously directed 2014’s “The Tribe,” a critically-heralded story about a school for the deaf that was done entirely in Ukrainian sign language, with no subtitles.
Dane DeHaan, who played the Green Goblin in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and will soon appear in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” is also attached to appear in “The Tiger.” He can currently be seen in Antonio Campos’ endlessly binge-able HBO Max drama “The Staircase.”

Let me put my two cents out there before I get into this: every single one of the people in The Tiger King is screwed up in some fundamental manner. There’s no other way to say it really, they’re all touched in the head, and not in a good way. It’s not just the fact that they all apparently feel that keeping big cats that are meant to be wild in captivity and then proceed to point fingers at each other for their dubious practices, it’s the fact that we, the American people, have made them all rich in the

Tradition is just an empty word in the world of gangsters, and the same could be said also for the world of film distribution. One might expect that a genre fare with an elite festival premiere should end up on the regular repertoire in movie theatres, regionally if not worldwide, but Park Hoon-jung’s “Night in Paradise” landed on Netflix instead earlier this year. We might blame it on the pandemic, but the fact is that the streaming services are expanding regardless of it.
As a screenwriter, Park is best known for his work with Kim Jee-won on the iconic serial killer flick “I Saw the Devil” (2010), but as a director, his most breakthrough work would be his second feature, “New World” (2013). Usually in this paragraph, I mention the importance of a particular upcoming project and why it should be on the audience’s radar. International sales agency The Open Reel has acquired Lebanese filmmaker Selim Mourad’s “Moss Agate” (“Agate mousse”), which is in the Rotterdam Film Festival’s Tiger competition.
In the film, a visit to a cosmetic-surgery clinic and the discovery of a lump in his testicle and an abscess in his mouth confront filmmaker Selim Mourad with transience and decay. After his death, which proceeds without any further explanation or ado, Selim’s image appears in an exhibition by a pretentious photographer, and a visitor to the gallery comments that the round framing of these portraits of the dead is reminiscent of film.
