Exclusive: Sony has stepped up with a seven figure bid to uncap Cola Wars, a movie pitch that tells the true story of Pepsi’s attempt to challenge Coca-Cola’s century-long reign as the world’s top cola, sparking the unforgettable “Cola Wars” of the mid-1980s. This behind-the-scenes account, from Michael Jackson’s fiery mishap to the New Coke debacle, tells the ultimate underdog tale of history’s most iconic second-place contender vying for the No. 1 spot. Sources said it was around $1.5 million while Sony said it was $1 million, still a whopping deal for a pitch.

The search for the next "Suits" has begun! Aaron Korsh's legal drama series gained a whole new lease on life in 2023 thanks to Netflix, becoming the year's most-streamed show and giving USA Network's loyal middle-aged target demographic a reason to fist pump in vindication. The only question now is, what lucky show will follow in its footsteps? Surprisingly, an unlikely candidate has emerged in the form of "Resident Alien," a genre-blending cult favorite that's currently in the process of airing its third season on Syfy.
Anchored by fan-favorite performer and voice actor extraordinaire Alan Tudyk (the man who clucked his way into audiences' hearts as Heihei in "Moana" and wooed his own butt as Clayface in "Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine's Day Special"), "Resident Alien" has managed to climb its way into Netflix's Top 10 in the U.S. According to the streaming viewership aggregator FlixPatrol, it was...

It lasted only one season, but fans still mourn the demise of the sci-fi/western Firefly. As much as we love watching (and rewatching) the series, sometimes it's not enough.
Are you longing for a little more Captain Tight Pants? Want to see Zoe quietly kick some adversary's butt? Wishing you could revisit the Hero of Canton?
Well, we can't bring back Firefly -- oh, how we wish we could! -- but we can tell you where you can tune in to see the cast now.
If you can't get enough of the crew of the Serenity, read on to find out where you can see them now.
Ron Glass - Shepherd Derrial Book
Shepherd Book was the preacher with a cryptic past who boards the Serenity and befriends its crew. We loved Book's warmth and acceptance of his other crew members while still being able to hold onto his faith.

Following the massive success of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Tom Holland's portrayal of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker's wall-crawling superhero is more popular than ever. Although, if you're confused by Sony Pictures' approach to their Spider-Man movies, you're not alone. On one hand, True Believers around the world can hardly wait for "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" to finally hit theaters next year. On the other hand, every live-action project that gets announced by the studio is just getting weirder and weirder, and we're not even talking about the Madame Web movie that appears to follow the younger years of the elderly spider-hero that most fans remember from the 1990s "Spider-Man: The Animated Series." Instead, it's all of these works that put various members of the friendly neighborhood web-slinger's rogues gallery front and center.

Since the comic book boom exploded into life 20 years ago, costumed crimefighters have been adapted into almost every genre from action and comedy to thriller and horror. However, for some reason, the superhero sitcom has proved a tough nut to crack. Of course, there are plenty of great movies and TV shows with a lot of laughs, while The Boys and The Tick offer very different yet equally effective sources of humor, but the sitcom has found itself largely ignored.
The most high profile attempt was Warner Bros.’ Powerless, a workplace comedy set at a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that took place within the DC Universe, which was swiftly canceled before the first season had even finished airing. Then there was also the BBC’s My Hero, ITV’s No Heroics, as well as Disney’s kid-centric Lab Rats: Elite Force and Nickelodeon duo Henry Danger and The Thundermans.

The third season of Titans recently began shooting, and the show is already reported to have been renewed for another year on HBO Max. We’ve been hearing some fascinating things about it, too, most notably that Jason Todd will become Red Hood. And while it didn’t initially seem likely that Titans would incorporate Jason’s death by the Joker from the established comics mythology, it now seems as if series will be getting its own version of the Clown Prince of Crime, and that he’ll turn up soon to kill Todd.
The news comes from insider Daniel Richtman, who’s been pretty on the money in recent months about updates on forthcoming productions. For Titans to introduce the Joker, after teasing Batman and eventually featuring Iain Glen’s Bruce Wayne, would be a major move for DC, especially considering how strict they tend to be with core characters appearing on television.

Warner Bros. are content to frequently reboot Batman for the big screen, but they’re a lot more reluctant to see one of their marquee names appear in a live-action TV series. There’ve been countless shows tangentially related to the Dark Knight over the years, but the character hasn’t been the main draw of a small screen exclusive since Adam West wrapped up his run in 1968.
The Caped Crusader was briefly glimpsed in 2002’s forgotten Birds of Prey, was referenced in short-lived sitcom Powerless, looms in the background of Titans and is reported to make fleeting appearances in the upcoming HBO Max project focusing on the Gotham City Police Department. Meanwhile, Gotham ran for five seasons but didn’t reveal Batman until the very last scene of the finale, and though he definitely exists in the Arrowverse, The CW has been limited in regards to what they can do with the character.

The final season of Star Trek: The Next Generation features an episode called “Lower Decks,” told from the point of view of a group of junior officers on the Enterprise who see our heroes as their demanding and at times unfair bosses. The live-action and animated originals found at DC Universe go where Marvel’s Netflix series chose not to dwell. While the twisted characters are as dark, the language and violence go further, with even more overt sexuality.
While it has an appeal with live-action, seeing this with Harley Quinn is disturbing. Seeing her animated form cavort through corpses, mass destruction, and friendship reminds us of her WB debut on Batman: The Animated Series, over 25 years ago. So, the first season of the new show, out now on disc from Warner Archive, is aimed at those who grew up with her, not their children.
Everyone is foul-mouthed and the gratuitous violence and mayhem seem to be the animators’ way of showing that they can do it rather than a story’s need for it. Most of the R-rated material is unnecessary and distracts from what is the show’s strength: its characterization.

The two-part “9-1-1” Season 3 finale begins Monday with an episode that sees half of Los Angeles lose power. As you can imagine, this is going to lead to even more emergencies for the 118 to deal with, including problems they’ve never faced before — like how to get a guy out of a meat freezer when there’s no electricity.
In TheWrap’s exclusive clip from tonight’s hour, titled “Powerless,” Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) takes a 9-1-1 call from a man named Gordon, who lets her know he’s been trapped inside a meat locker during the power outage.
Maddie dispatches Bobby (Peter Krause), Hen (Aisha Hinds), Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) to go save the man, who has to do his best to bundle up and not freeze to death while he waits hours for them to arrive.

It's about time.
The conclusion of 9-1-1 Season 3 marks the return of original series regular Connie Britton.
The actress is set to reprise her Abby Clark role after being away from the action since May 2018.
If you watch 9-1-1 online, you know Abby left Buck behind in favor of going off to find herself following the death of her mother.
Their relationship was a whirlwind, and there's a good chance they have some unfinished business that needs to be addressed in these final two episodes.
As for what brings Abby back into the fold, the official trailer for the finale teases a lot of different emergencies for the team to attend to.
One of them involves a derailed train that Abby is trapped on. Britton doesn't tend to stick with shows in the long run, so we should probably expect this to be a short return.

By: Dan Moore When DC fans remember David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, they probably first think of Margot Robbie’s incredible portrayal of Harley Quinn. This wasn’t the first time we have been introduced to this character, Harley Quinn originally appeared in the 1992 show, Batman: The Animated Series, and was voiced by Arleen Sorkin. Since Suicide Squad, the character has reached a new level of popularity, spawning Halloween costumes and a whole new sense of punk style for young girls among many things. Ahead of the follow-up, spin-off titled Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, due out in February, DC Universe has just released an animated series solely dedicated to the frequent accomplice and lover of Joker, titled Harley Quinn. One of the many standout elements of the new streaming series is the score by composer Jefferson Friedman, which he has described as “power...

The adult-themed animated series, Harley Quinn, requires a special musical touch, which composer Jefferson Friedman handles deftly.
Harley Quinn on DC Universe is not your typical comics-based animated series. With its mature humor befitting the irreverent, hammer-wielding villain, the series is carving out its own niche that has elevated the status of this already beloved character. Part of the success of the adult tone of this new cartoon offering is the score, which must dance a fine line between humorous and dark, mixing the two when appropriate. Composer Jefferson Friedman, who is familiar with DC having scored the short-lived Powerless, took on the task and spoke to us about his process on the latest episode of The Fourth Wall podcast.
Although Friedman is achieving recognition for his work on Harley Quinn as well as on NBC’s popular medical drama, New Amsterdam, writing music for live action...

The DC Universe Harley Quinn cartoon is weirder, wilder, and dirtier than you ever dreamed. How the hell did this happen?
The Harley Quinn animated series has finally arrived on the DC Universe streaming service. Boasting a rapid-fire jokes-per-minute ratio that would shame nearly any other comedy on TV, and having...no actual shame at all about anything whatsoever, Harley Quinn is unlike anything you've ever known to be associated with the DC brand. Sure, we all already knew that Joker is a terrible, abusive boyfriend and that Batman is a stuck-up fascist tool, but did you know that Commissioner Gordon is an overcaffeinated wreck who desperately craves Batman's attention or that Poison Ivy keeps a foul-mouthed Venus flytrap that sounds suspiciously like J.B. Smoove or that Riddler is actually way more insufferable than you probably would have guessed he is?

Some pretty iconic comic book characters originated far away from the comic book page. Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and his editor Perry White both first appeared in the Adventures of Superman radio show. Wolverine’s clone/adopted daughter X-23 debuted as part of the X-Men: Evolution cartoon series. Phil Coulson became such a ubiquitous part of the early Marvel films (and then the lead on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) that he’s now similarly ingrained in the Marvel comic book universe.

Robert Pattinson was revealed to be Warner Bros.’ top choice for the new Caped Crusader last week and now, fresh rumors are speculating who could fill out the rest of the cast of director Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Including who may be the Selina Kyle to Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne.

Given that this has now turned out to be the case, they’ve decided to share the other casting intel they heard at the time, which includes that the studio’s top pick for Catwoman is Vanessa Hudgens.

If asked to name your top five favorite John Mayer songs (or probably even your top 20 . . . ), chances are "The Heart of Life" wouldn't make the cut, and that's not because it isn't a good song - it's because you probably have never heard it. Taken from Mayer's third studio album, Continuum, the song was never even released as a single, but that's not stopping ABC from developing a drama series of the same name, with Mayer at the helm. Yeah, we're confused, too, but definitely intrigued.
Heart of Life will follow two sets of adult siblings from vastly different worlds who discover they share a father, forcing them to revisit everything they thought they knew about their shared parent and their separate childhoods. Mayer will serve as executive producer alongside writer Ben Queen (the guy behind NBC's Powerless), and though little has been revealed aside from the premise, we...

We’re nearly seven years into the modern TV superhero-drama boom, which began with the CW’s Arrow. In those early days, when Oliver Queen was running around without a mask and only being called “the vigilante,” there was a sense that the people adapting comic books for the small screen felt they had to hold viewers’ hands through the whole concept.

ABC has nabbed Heart of Life, a drama from Powerless and A to Z creator Ben Queen, director Paul Weitz, Fresh Off the Boat executive producer Melvin Mar and 20th Century Fox TV.
The project, inspired by singer-songwriter John Mayer’s song of the same name, had been developed internally at 20th TV for the past several months and written on spec by Queen. It stems from Mar’s friendship with Mayer. Mar’s longtime producing partner Jake Kasdan, was originally eyed to potentially direct but was not available as he is directing the Jumanji sequel. Weitz then joined to executive produce and potentially direct The package was taken out to broadcast, cable and streaming networks earlier this month.
I hear Mar, who, along with Kasdan executive produces three comedy series on ABC — all from 20th TV where the duo have a deal — Fresh Off the Boat, Speechless and the upcoming Bless This Mess,...

ABC has ordered a one-hour drama pilot based on the John Mayer song “Heart of Life.”
The show follows two sets of adult siblings from wildly different worlds who discover they’re related and must reassess everything they thought they knew about their shared father. As they explore the mystery of their separate childhoods, they’ll experience the difficulty in overcoming the sins of the past, and learn the joys of reuniting with long-lost family.
Ben Queen will serve as writer and executive producer. Mayer will also serve as executive producer along with Melvin Mar, Jake Kasdan, and Paul Weitz. 20th Century Fox Television will produce in association with ABC Studios.
This marks Mayer’s first outing as a TV producer. The celebrated musician has appeared in a limited number of acting roles and hosts the Instagram talk show “Current Mood.” He is repped by Wme and Azoff Msg Entertainment.
