This is the third feature-length Wilco performance film co-directors Brendan Canty and Christoph Green have directed. The duo are also responsible for "Wilco: The Ashes of American Flags" and "Wilco: Shake It Off," as well as the solo performance film "Jeff Tweedy: Sunken Treasure."
Wilco's first set performed in the film was comprised entirely of cover songs. Prior to filming, fans were encouraged to submit and vote on which songs the band would play in concert.
MASS MoCA, the art museum where Solid Sound takes place, was the former site of Arnold Print Works textile factory from the late 1800's to the early 1940's, and of the Sprague Electric Company from the 40's to the mid-80's.
The enormous Phoenix sculptures seen in the film are by the Chinese artist Xu Bing, and are each 90 meters long and weigh two tons each.
