Maria Bopp was very vocal about being sex positive and the wrong direction the Brazilian culture was taking after it was decided the series wouldn't receive any more public funding, making the fourth season the last of the series. She said:
"Not talking about prostitution won't make it (sic) stop existing, no matter how much you don't want it to. Just like I wouldn't want militiamen to exist, nor murderers living in the same condo as the president, nor unfit ignoramuses occupying positions that don't belong to them."
According to Brazilian online outlet NaTelinha, the series was canceled because its heavy focus on sex didn't fit the portfolio of Disney -the new owner- which the company denied.
Other sources said Maria Bopp and producers knew the fourth season disappointed and were planning a new season sexually heavier and more explicit. The working subtitle for the fifth season envisioned was "Tudo sobre prazer sexual" and an early episode was supposed to feature the main character in graphic gangbang.
The series has been sold to more than 50 countries.
