Having Betty White and Jane Leeves on the show was great. They play mother and daughter and initially are at the Moore house talking with Martina (Carrie Preston) in a therapy session. Several family members interrupt the session, including Mike (Patrick Warburton) who has a cold and is wanting attention. At one point they tell Martina to go ahead and take care of her family as it seems it is really important. When she comes back, Sandy (Betty White) is missing. Martina finds Sandy in their bedroom rubbing Vicks all over Mike's chest. Sandy decides that she is going to move in with the Moore's and Mike is all for that. The rest of the show centers on the different needs of the various family members and the importance of being needed.
Betty White is funny as usual. Shea (Miranda Cosgrove) finally makes a connection with someone that is attractive to her both physically and intellectually. We learn a bit more about Bob (Stacy Keach) and Alice (Carlease Burke). Stella is still a bit shallow but not quite as annoyingly so as in a couple of previous episodes.
For the most part, the writers are still doing a good job with this show. Most of the character development is heading in the right direction. It is interesting to watch the dynamic between the various family members and to see how their relationships are progressing. There is quite a bit of comedy in each episode. I am interested in the characters and am looking forward to learning more about them as well as seeing what obstacles they face and how they deal with each one.
