For the original version of the first season of Art Less, there were a series of auditions and re-castings lasting from December 19, 2015 to April 16, 2016.
Kim Barnard was originally set to play the lead role of Emily, but due to scheduling conflicts the role was recast with Jerusha Wright in January 2016. However, due to personal conflicts between Wright and co-creator Gabriel Fowler, the role was recast again with actress Nolan Rogers in February 2017. In addition to appearing as Emily in the second season, Rogers will also replace Wright in season one via reshoots in Summer of 2017.
Production for the first season of Art Less began on March 19, 2016.
Only four characters appear in all of the episodes of seasons one and two: Josh, Emily, Adam and Erin, which co-creator Gabriel Fowler refers to as the main characters of Art Less.
Gabriel Fowler, Alex Desjardin, and Andrew Cohen began outlining and writing the second season of Art Less in April of 2016, whilst season one was still filming.
