Interesting thriller
WaldoLydecker114 June 2018
I watched this movie twice, with about a year between viewings. It's a pretty neat thriller, with interesting subject matter and, as another viewer pointed out, a few unexpected plot twists. If you like thrillers and/or movies with gay content, check it out. Do not be put off by negative reviews by those who think they are very clever, but don't know the correct spelling of words like "farce" or the name "Igor," for example.

A bit slow
cekadah30 October 2017
This little flick is sort of a floater between being good and bad. The story rambles along and then the twist in the plot.

It's basically about two guys that return to a Bed & Breakfast to justify themselves and revenge the wound the owner inflicted upon these two guys earlier in an incident the viewer only knows by seeing a headline in an old news tabloid. But the two guys are unprepared for what happens to them by design of the owner and the incident with mysterious Russian.

This story is told slowly and it gets a little boring until the last third of the movie. Not one you will remember but might enjoy if you are in the mood for a mystery.

Difficult to see, cinematography ruined the film
Q-Man29 January 2023
I wanted to watch this because I've seen Callum Woodhouse in "The Durrells" and "All Creatures Great and Small" and wanted to see how he'd handle a more serious role. He did well, in a supporting role, but I had great difficulty in following the film. I admit I watched it on an iPad and not a TV, but the real problem was with the lighting. Almost every scene was too dark to see what was going on. I turned the brightness up, but still too dark.

As to the plot itself, it was rather convoluted. Yes, there were plot twists but the development was poor. It really could have been much better, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something more. Good actors were put in a mediocre movie.

Boring!

Who wrote this? Worse, who FINANCED this?

Boring characters, slow, thin plot spread out. By the time you get to the unimpressive plot twist you just don't CARE.

No Walk in the Park
gensbill20 March 2018
These are not nice people.

The film is interesting however. The performances are good and there's a couple of nice twists.

It's also not preachy. It's a dark movie with lots of sex (mostly seen through night vision goggles), which may make some people uncomfortable. Still, I recommend it if your in the mood for an understated thriller.

Utterly tasteless; avoid.
MOscarbradley3 July 2018
There's no way "B&B" will ever be listed among the great LGBT films or in any list of great thrillers. Indeed, this creepy little picture is actually thoroughly objectionable and is just the kind of film to give gay-themed movies a bad name. Fred and Marc are the recently married gay couple who return to the Christian guesthouse they were once barred from after winning a courtcase against the owner for discrimination. Unfortunately, on the same night a potentially psychopathic Russian also checks in. Since one of the the two gay guests is totally obnoxious you do hope he gets his comeuppance and early on, (the other is seen as 'the good guy'), so your sympathies hardly lie with those characters meant to be the heroes, (the homophobic guesthouse owner, very well played by Paul McGann, is actually most sympathetic person in the movie). This is an utterly tasteless picture whose torturous plot is unlikely to appeal to anyone and certainly not to a gay audience. Avoid.

Big Mistake
graingebill27 October 2020
This is an amateurish "mystery". Is it somebody's grad thesis film? The characters are one-dimensional clichés trapped in contrived situations. The wires are all showing. Too bad, because the concept could have worked, perhaps as a campy horror film.

Annoying
jcoberkrom4 July 2021
A lot of typical "thriller" techniques but not done well. Plot twists that don't make sense. People doing things they really wouldn't do real life. So much unexplained, well because it can't be.

So much misused potential!

Scooby-doo where are you?

Warning: Spoilers
A self-righteous gay couple named Quintin Quisp and the Purple Pimpernel sues a backward farmer named Furgus and his tortured son, Egor for not having a double bed in their hideous two-room B&B at Goohl Gulch. Spooky music starts and pandemonium ensues when the self-congratulatory couple return for a bit of mean-queen fun on the anniversary of the conflicted stay where a sinister murder occurs, an attempted murder occurs, a conspiracy to commit murder occurs, a cover-up ensues, and another cover-up develops before the constabulary arrives. Oh ya, and there's a missing wedding ring in the floorboards. All that's missing is Egor asking, "What hump?" This isn't a movie, it's a screenplay for a Wooster & Jeeves farse!

B & B - Don't Overstay your Visit...
dcarsonhagy17 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was not as taken with this movie as the other reviewer; however, it was still a damn good thriller.

It seems a gay couple were refused their right to a single bed at a Christian B & B. They return a year later to claim what is rightfully theirs by law. Nonetheless, the owner of the B & B will not give in to their demands. Fred (being the less aggressive one), wants to let well enough alone; Marc won't go down without a fight. Fred gets an unexpected surprise by none other than the establishment owner's son. Everything seems headed one way...and then the mysterious (and very handsome) Russian appears. What transpires after that is one very taught and well-told tale.

Rated "R" for adult situations, simulated gay sex, and violence, this was a pleasant surprise indeed.

Get ready for a jaw-dropping thriller with plenty of fun moments
Turgut_Belen14 June 2017
I was invited by a friend to see B&B at the CineStudio in Hartford, CT. In fact this was B&B's second US preview, followed by an outdoor celebration of the Out Film CT Organization's 30th LGBT Anniversary Film Festival. What a great night it was...

Movie starts with a gay couple checking into a B&B. In the beginning I felt I was watching a TV movie because there was no background music. Soundtrack did come later on to add the feeling needed to this fast paced Hitchcock style thriller. There was not a single dull moment after all and crowd was either giggling or impatiently mumbling, waiting what will happen next. I enjoyed the well selected cast and sets, especially the park scenes (I am not going to tell you), filmed with a special night-vision camera, which I think could have been more erotic and extended. Of course that's my personal idea.

This is my 3rd movie review here and, I am very happy to be the first reviewer of this great movie. Don't miss it.

Very bold.
rpetersr8 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't remember it being that slow, as some reviews say. I found myself intrigued right from the beginning.

I really liked this title, because, instead of preaching, it shows you both sides to the central dilemma. Revelations, including the last twist, were quite shocking.

Characters were well written and multi-dimensional. One can start thinking that the father was a predictable, self-righteous prick, but that is totally negated by later actions.

Acting was good, especially from the father and son.

Don't miss this

A great and unique thriller. B&B represents gay men not as people always chasing after sex - as in so many "worthy" LGBTQ films but our heroes are as a married couple who love each other. With more twists and turns than a country road B&B will keep you guessing right up until the end.

Interesting but could have been better
steeleronaldr3 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's great to see a gay themed movie not based on guy jumping into bed with each. For once a movie based on gay guys in a thriller that starts out predicable but somehow changes to a more suspenseful movie. They could however had a better plot line from what they used. I won't say much on the plot too ruin any of the movie but I was or should I say really got into it as it moved along. Two gay guys return to a bed and breakfast to seek revenge but get more than they bargain for. They spent a bit too long introducing characters which made it look like it would be drug out. The movie seems to struggle at times to hold your attention which hurts the first half. The second half it slowly draws on you as you wait to see what happens next and finally you get glued to the movie. Sadlyy no character has that root for me punch, nor does any character have that feel sorry for me. Towards the end is when it really gets moving and finally gets your whole attention. In all not a bad movie but one that stands above a lot of them. It does in the third part show a lot of sex through night vision glasses so you don't see it act but stimulated. It's a pleaser for a boring night other than that it's just again above a lot of gay themed movies.
