- Whiling practicing his piano piece for Kembleford's annual benefit variety (free podium), snooty heir Calvin Twyman is strangled in his father industrialist Robert Twyman's stately home, where butler Lester Wallace had instructions for tight security after a threat from Calvin's rival, reporter turned pianist Rosie Everton.
