Solid style, too little substance

"Snowbird" is an American 12-minute live action short film from 2016 and as this one was written and directed by Sean Baker, it got a little boost as well thanks to the filmmaker's Oscar-nominated new movie "The Florida Project". But we talked about that one on another occasions, so lets focus on this dozen minutes here. The cast is not known to me, but that's not too surprising for a work by Baker. What I liked the most here, was maybe the style and atmosphere of the entire thing. Story-wise on the other hand, it left me a bit unimpressed I must say. Sure, nothing too spectacular happens, but it's also not a good character study and not as quietly convincing as I wanted it to be. Maybe one reason is that this film is actually a very long ad for fashion brand Kenzo and it surprises me slightly that Baker agreed to do it given his independent filmmaker background. It all started with BMW and Clive Owen back in the day and still goes on until today. This one here is not among the very best advertizing movies (if you want to call it like that). The acting was also only convincing at times. watch something else instead.
