I was really laughing out loud after reading one specific review about the show. There seem to be some people who start watching a show, hating it and everything about it, still watching 4 full seasons of that very show only to then even take the time and energy to post one-star reviews about almost every single episode of a show they hate so much. I could speculate about the psychological issues behind such weird behaviour, but I won't..so, about this episode: I thought it was great, for several reasons.It was quite realistic for me that the trouble with the Armenian mob wasn't just over after what happened. Also that those killed weren't the real head of the organisation. Ray is having real trouble finding a way to bring this threatening situation to an end now. I also like the storyline with Abby actually. I don't have any idea why, no matter which show it is were there is an impressive male lead, that the wives of those characters always get so much hatred? this episode as well as many others show that the character of Abby just wants one thing: she wants to be with her husband, emotionally close. That was very difficult in the past time for reasons that lay mostly with him. She still tried, took in emotional blows and his steady cheating. There was one point when she felt like she had to get out of the situation and pay him back - understandably. And everyone now hates her? A weird phenomenon for me. She isn't perfect, - who is? - but Ray is far from perfect for sure and that is what makes it seem real to me.

The One Where Ray Sings Karaoke

OK, so i do think that whole karaoke sequence was a little... bizarre, when you see Ray singing karaoke (really?) and the very next scene he is walking very cool and well... like Ray Donovan does. It was a nice idea and well executed, but it just felt... off.
Nevertheless. I'm highly enjoying this 4th season so far overall, a little bit to my surprise. I loved that they didn't forget the whole 3rd season's payoff, and its payoffs in 4th season plausibly and very intriguing so far. Acting as well as writing and directing are very good as usual, and i'm really looking forward where this season is going to.
Overall, 4th season for me is a very, very good one. The first ~10 minutes of the opening episode kinda started to worrying me, i thought it will go into "self-redeem"/ "boring" territory but pretty quickly "Ray Donovan" stood on the ground for which i love this show. Great season so far.

I'm sure most of you know what "Jumping the shark" means. When the quality of a television show drops and in response the writers throw everything they can think of, to pump-up the interest of viewers.
So. After the show "Ray Donovan" became "Mickey Donovan" or "The Donovans", you get "Spotlight Donovan" where catholic priests everywhere raping young boys while the church covers up every incident.
In this episode however a new barrier is jumped by the writers. Now "Spotlight Donovan" becomes "Ray Donovan - The musical" or even better "Karaoke Ray"! Ray is scarred and forced to sing ...Karaoke in a dreadful bar with his tail between his legs. Mickey still has a con or a heist in his mind and Abby has cancer (if any of the viewers actually cares about her). Oh, There is also a baby in the Mix and Ray is the godfather. Some geriatric sex in a parking lot, and a guy washes his privates in a bidet.
I always felt cheated by this show, which was supposed to be about "a fixer for L.A.'s rich and famous", but this is a new low.

I have been sadly waiting for the moment when some TV executive says; "okay, we need a baby!"...
Ray Donovan was one of the last great cable shows!
As usual, they have ruined what could be so great and the many interesting characters in the show could be developed...But NOOOOOOOOO... lets take up valuable screen time with A stupid, useless and non contributing infant! Why? Do we really need to be reminded constantly that people have babies?
The show should only have Micky and the guys from the gym...The Mexican chick is very annoying...The stuff with the daughter is annoying, where's the son? It nice to see Hank Azaria, He's a real mechanic! Most people I know that have been watching Ray from the beginning like it because Ray is a quiet get it done no matter what guy...
I see this show going down the tubes...It could have been so much too...Can't wait for Black Sails or Peaky Blinders to return!
