.....acceptable 'lifestyle choices' in 201X continues to unfold before the viewer's very eyes. It numbs the moral outrage to see what passes for 'permitted' as art truly does imitate life and ray Donovan does so for the mid-2010's.
What is a sole relief is the continuing source of light that the writers insert specific to the Catholic Church's impact upon this Irish clan from Boston - the Donovans - that still hold to it how ever lightly. It also is key to 'seeing' souls understand if one is looking for perfection in any man/woman rest assured one shall always be dissapointed and sadly possibly have their own faith destroyed.
Regardless the key to this main character is his awareness of what his moral code will tolerate and when a limit of indifference has been breached by true evil.
This is a very telling episode for it is a turning point in what undoubtedly lies ahead....a continuing descent into what Dante described in his 'Divine Comedy'....'The Inferno'.
