Justice League: Action - Action Indeed!
runeplyr28 January 2017
There are a lot of really good things about this show, but the one aspect that stands out most to me is just how good the Action actually is! It seems like every episode has a chase or fight that constantly leave me saying "Oh man, that was so cool!". Seriously, the fight choreography is wonderful, especially for the super-powered hand-to-hand, which WB Animation has proved time and time again that they've really got down pat.

The only thing that keeps the show from being perfect is the writing. The writing bad by any means, though. In fact, most of the episodes have very interesting plot lines, but I feel that the show often lacks the time to focus on characters, and Episodes that do focus on the character interactions will be hit-and-miss depending on your tastes in dialogue. Understandable though, given the 11 minute run period. But the potential is there for two- part finales, like seen with Batman: Brave And The Bold!

All in all, incredibly pleased with the series. If you follow DC's wonderful history in animation, this show is the next big step in the staircase.

Possibly one of the stronger programs on Current Cartoon Network.
Cyclonians15 July 2017
Justice league action is like time traveling back to the early 2000s Cartoon Network, very similar animations to DC cartoons from that era, because they don't use that animation style anymore.

Is it good?, well yes, from a person who has watched Cartoon Network since 1999, its very decent.

But it needs be aired more often because it only gets aired when Cartoon Network has the Action weekend thing.

My rating of it is a 8.9/10 its one of the stronger programs on Cartoon Network right now next to Regular Show.

Surprisingly fun and very similar to batman the brave and the bold
xfalconx-058278 January 2017
Let's get this clear, this is not young justice or voltron legendary defender, this is just a 10- minute episode cartoon that has no character development or story, but has a striking balance of humour and action. I hope the episodes get a little longer, because what I'm seeing is an instant gratification of a lot of good action and exposition. While I disliked the animation at first I can safely say now that it works quite well for the story and has some nostalgia of Bruce timms art style, and indeed, the art director did work for Bruce Timm. The cartoon mainly consists of shorts that revolve around the insanely big DC gallery of heroes and villains, were it quickly starts with an action scene, and ends with a punchline, but that doesn't mean it's not fun, I'm actually surprised at the balance they managed to reach. You don't get bored, and these 10 minutes end up being one of the finer times you spent in your day. All in all batman the brave and the bold ( the closes series to this, if not its original inspiration) has a finer art style and a longer more consistent plot, the only nitpick I have with this is like I said, too short. But for now, in this lackluster era of animation, I'm only enjoying Tmnt and voltron, and this is a fine addition to watch, surprisingly recommended.

Surprisingly amazing and fun
kjell-ahlstrom18 December 2016
After seeing the promo pics I was disappointed with the art style. I decided to give it a chance nonetheless and was really pleasantly surprised.

The show is high tempo with good doses of comedy that made me laugh on several occasions. The story line was also entertaining, although I could fault one part for being a ripoff from an earlier animated Justice League episode.

In the end the I think the art style works really well for what it wants to accomplish and it ends up being maybe the best animated superhero show so far.

Really recommend this show and hoping the next episodes are as great as the first.

BEST. SHOW. EVER!
starryskylightsjunk14 February 2018
Disclaimer: I love this show. I love the characters and the universe and children's cartoons so you won't have me raving on how bad this show is... because it's not. 1. It's extremely funny in a decent way (unlike some other shows on cartoon network COUGHteentiansgoCOUGH). It has just the right amount of hilarity to action, and don't even get me started on Firestorm. 2. The characters are really great, but you probably should have some understanding of the DC universe. Batman is pretty much Batman the Animated Series Batman (Episodes: Time Share and Rage of the Red Lanterns) and Superman is really the boy scout that I personally love. He's not just powerful and he doesn't have a god-like detachment and seriousness. He's funny, light-hearted, and ready for action. Wonder Woman is great. She's pretty much a mix between Batman and Superman but is an incredible character all her own. (Episode: The Trouble With Truth) I love love love the junior justice leaguers Stargirl, Firestorm, and Blue Beetle. (Episode: Field Trip (Firestorm: Freezer Burn & Nuclear Family Values, Stargirl: Supernatural adventures in babysitting, Blue Beetle: Time Share)) They're inexperienced but ready to learn and make jokes along the way! In the show, many characters that you wouldn't know about as a casual fan pop up. Plastic Man, Booster Gold, Constantine, and Space Cabbie are just a few of many excellent characters in both comedy and contribution to a larger universe. This show made me appreciate Green Arrow (Episode: Booster's Gold) and has many tie-ins to classic Silver Age justice league comics (Episode: Abate and Switch (They swap costumes)) 3.THE ANIMATION. The style and smoothness of the animation is the retro-classic-adventure that I personally love soooooooo much. When characters move swiftly, they are portrayed as a blur (a lot cooler than it sounds) so it looks fast and fluid. It's colorful in a good way and the backgrounds are really nice. I like the "poses" they sometimes do and it shows some character's powers in a really neat way. (Vixen especially, Episode: Garden of Evil) 4. Voice acting. I've heard bad voice acting. This is AMAZING voice acting. Also, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. Need I say more?

I could probably go on for ages about Shazam, Flash, Plastic Man, Green Arrow, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Green Lantern, Supergirl, Streaky and Krypto, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Riddler, Jonah Hex, Harley Quinn, and I'm ranting again. I really hope that if you're into comics, you'll at least try this excellent show.

Somewhat better then Teen Titans Go!
derikdragon0117 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Look I'm a fan of superhero cartoons, which I watch them if it's about a favorite hero or (in this case) team of them. With that being said, I usually give anything a fair shake before becoming a regular viewer. But the silliness with characters like Plastic Man and Booster Gold; and Manhunter's Earthly alter ego being given a British accent over how he sounded in Justice League Unlimited, will take some getting used to. Though aside from it, I think it's cool that Firestorm and Professor Martin Stine in addition to Cyborg (giving a nod to Galactic Guardians) are included as recurring characters. So at least it has that going for it.

Has a lot of interesting characters
saipranayreddy66622 December 2016
I think there are lot of characters in DC universe that do not get the spotlight that I think they deserve.By showing us new characters they are giving us a chance to explore DC Universe and some of the interesting characters in it.

This series could be a great starting point for many characters. Not just the heroes but some of the Villeins in it are very interesting if you start learning about them.I think there is scope for more characters in the future. So, I hope this series continues the good work going.

I have heard that the series is going to have 52 episodes for the 1st season. So,Can't wait to see the future episodes and future seasons.

Pretty Good
asfhgwt-110 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
JL Unlimited and the series before that were highly entertaining to this 60-year-old coot, and JL Action is pretty good. The animation is simpler, but Kevin Conroy is back as the best Batman by far. Superman isn't Tim Daly here but his replacement sounds fairly close. Other voice actors are solid. The stories are simplistic but the writing is generally intelligent and logical, with lots of homage to old TV shows and movies, and clever, fun dialogue that I've always wanted to hear. (Example: a young JL'er says a giant monkey is roaming the streets and Batman promptly corrects her: "Titano's a chimp, not a monkey.") An entertaining and amusing 22 minutes for anyone who's ever enjoyed DC comics.

So much potential
willz1876 November 2019
A lot of great things about this show were wasted by the format. The art was top notch.

Best animated version of Supergirl I've ever seen.

Really wanted to see more. The opening credits were awful and that noise it makes as soon as the show begins was painful for my ears and speakers. Great appearances by characters like Deadshot and Lobo. Really just failed by making the episodes so short. You can't build any suspense or mood in 11 minute segments. Then again, they weren't really going for that; which is another issue the show had. Balancing comedy and story is tricky.

Deserved another season or two. Could've been something special.

Slow down!
cherold30 December 2016
I used to watch a lot of the superhero animated series in the '90s, but haven't seen any for a while. I'd heard this one was good so I thought I'd take a look, but the first episode lost me immediately.

I don't love the art style, but I could live with it. What I couldn't deal with was the manic pace. The series is pure action with virtually no time spent on story or character. The show starts with a fight, soon there's an explosion, more fighting, a little explanation, some more fighting.

The series from the '90s like Batman the Animated Series and X-Men had characters, stories, a point of view.

This show might be fine if you're a kid - I haven't been a kid since the '70s so I can't speak to that - but this series doesn't not give me much hope for the current state of TV kids cartoons.

Funny, fast, addictive, and loyal to the characters
victorfs-564615 May 2020
When I found out about this cartoon I was wanting more of what I got from Justice League and Unlimited. But it was different, more comical, it doesn't take itself too serious, like the previous cartoons. And, surprisingly, it pleased me a lot!

It has lots of similarities with Unlimited, which I liked, but it succeeds even more on it. The more child-friendly tone is actually welcoming charm for adults too! When you make the characters more comical, there's always the risk of disappointing, of being actually out of character, but in this case, they nailed it!

There are some details though: the art took me a little bit to get accustumed with (except for Deadshot and Chronos, those I still think should have been different); and one or two of the voice overs (not recurring ones) could have been more original.

I think some people stopped watching whether because they wanted more of the same (to be like the previous cartoon), or due to inconsistency of the air dates, the show had some problems with that and I think that's why we don't have a season 2.

I would love to watch a second season (and, hopefully, a lot more). If DC and Warner lauch the episodes with right timing and order, I'm sure it's gonna be a success!!

Bring it back Cartoon Network it deserves more seasons and so much can be explored from this show
WeAreLive17 February 2019
Okay, I admit I was very harsh in a review I wrote a year ago about this show which was very negative and just plain harsh.

I admit even though this show may not be as violent or intense as Young Justice or the original Justice League. But I admit it is still a very good show to watch and very fun as well.

Even though I am generally not a fan of 11 minute formats for a cartoon I admit it actually works here. Plus unlike Teen Titans Go ot the Ben 10 reboot this show is actually watchable, has good action and has decent jokes which can make me laugh. I admit there were some bad episodes and some episodes there wasn't that much seriousness. But if it had more seasons I believe it would have gradually got better.

The voice cast is good and animation and art style wise good.

Also unlike DC Super Hero Girls or Teen Titans Go! this show is a good way to get younger kids into the DC universe. Overall, if you want something lighter or want to get your younger kids into the DC Universe I would recommend this and Batman the brave and the bold.

Weak Sauce
FrankMTOrlando4 December 2020
After the likes of Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice this show is pitiful. I know it's aimed at younger audiences but it's a poor watered down copy of the exceptional series that came before. I really don't get the high praise. It's watered down pablum without depth or substance. Highly recommend following the #JLReunion hashtag and fight for a return to the quality of Unlimited.

Perfect for kids.
therealhesperus12 January 2024
I watched it with my three-year-old daughter and she loved it, even though she only knew Batman.

  • the imagery is uniform and beautiful
  • the characters are interesting, their abilities are used
  • the message of the episodes are positive (teamwork, forgiveness, perseverance, friendship)
  • the plot is usually well explained, for example what happens to the villains, what their plan is, what happens to them when they lose
  • the episodes are short, so I think they can be consumed by the younger age group in terms of complexity
  • the whole title is Justin League Action and well the action scenes are fun and well choreographed.

Another year another lame DC animated series
cvmail_eu21 January 2017
I know all these lame DC shows are made to appeal to 8 year olds so they can sell some stupid toys.... except kids these days play video games they're not begging their daddies and mommies to buy them batman and superman toys those days are over....when will these people get it..the 90's are over folks we got 3D video games now you can stop making these corny lame childish cartoons because no one will buy your stupid toys

I bet even the children are sick of all these new corny superhero series they keep making so don't expect adults like me who are able to write reviews on the internet to gives this show a positive review.
