Exclusive: LA-based comic book publisher Sumerian is lining up a comic book series based on the 2000 horror classic American Psycho, starring Christian Bale as iconic madman Patrick Bateman.
The four-issue comic book series, publishing later this year, will have a dual narrative, one showing a different perspective of Bateman’s killing spree (with a notable “twist”), and another revealing a modern day arc with “surprising connections to the past”.
The thriller series will alight on “an all-new psychopath as social media obsessed millennial, Charlie (Charlene) Carruthers, goes on a downward spiral filled with violence. Drug fueled partying leads to bloodshed as Charlie leaves a trail of bodies on her way to discovering the truth about her dark nature.” Below is some more art work.
Sumerian struck the deal with producer Pressman Film. The company says the deal includes the rights to use Christian Bale’s likeness in character as portrayed in the film.

2021 was an excellent year for TV.
There were some great offerings on broadcast and streaming, keeping us engrossed in a tough year.
TV Fanatic staff compiled a list of some of the year's best and worst new dramas.
Did your favorite show make the cut?
Scroll down to find out.
The Big Leap - Best
Definitely falling into the "guilty pleasure" category, The Big Leap somehow creates empathetic, quirky yet relatable characters, led by dreamy Scott Foley and sprinkled with some great dancing.
But it might be the behind-the-scenes-of-a-reality-contest-show aspect that most allures. A lot of it is ridiculous, but a lot of it is really fun, and also heartfelt.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan - Best
Of all the Power spinoffs, the one centered around the number one Power villain felt like a risky endeavor. At best, Kanan was a polarizing figure, and centering an entire series around his...

Ash Avildsen is earning much cred as a multi-media mogul.
His past has seen him playing in a signed touring metal band (Reflux), starting the Sumerian Records label from his Los Angeles apartment, and now venturing into the world of film and television production -- all in spite of his famous father's legacy, not because of it.
With the recent premiere of his rockin' heavy metal riddled indie soap opera Paradise City, a sequel series following the 2017 film American Satan, dropping on Amazon Prime, he can add "TV showrunner" to his resume, along with actor and director.
We were psyched to shoot the shit with the guy and dig all sorts of juicy, crazy matter out of the successful, young entrepreneur's twisted head. Join us now for the journey:

Fans of the late Cameron Boyce will soon be able to watch his final performance. In July 2019, Cameron tragically died in his sleep at age 20 after he had a seizure due to an ongoing medical condition. The Disney Channel star will make his last onscreen appearance as Simon in the show Paradise City, premiering on Amazon Prime Video on March 25. E! News has an exclusive first look at the Los Angeles-based show, which is follow-up to creator Ash Avildsen's 2017 film American Satan. The projects are loosely based on Ash's "estranged relationship" with his father John Avildsen (who directed Rocky), per a press release. Both works...

Music magazine Hit Parader, published from 1942 to 2008, has been reimagined as a branded production studio for TV, film, live events and more, under the auspices of music biz and media veterans Ash Avildsen (pictured at left), Josh Bernstein (right) and Matt Pinfield (center). The first offerings under the Hit Parader moniker are slated to air — Covid-19 permitting — by the end of 2020, and include the original scripted series “Paradise City” and music competition TV shows “No Cover” and “Roadie Rage.” Platforms for the three programs will be announced shortly. A biopic of influential A&r exec Tom Zutaut, who was portrayed by SNL’s Pete Davidson in Motley Crue’s 2019 Netfilx film “The Dirt,” is also in the works.

Colleagues, friends and fans of Descendant and Jessie star Cameron Boyce are still absorbing the news of the actor’s sudden death at age 20. But the young star, who died in his sleep from “an ongoing medical condition,” will live on in several upcoming projects he had filmed before his passing.
First off is Descendants 3, which is set to premiere August 2. Boyce is reprising his role of Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil, in the third installment of Disney Channel’s hit original movie franchise, about the offspring of classic Disney villains. (you can watch the latest trailer below) An announcement about how Disney Channel will honor Boyce’s memory will likely be made next week. The network, where Boyce first hit stardom with the TV series Jessie, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Descendants director/executive producer Kenny Ortega all paid tribute to Boyce earlier today.

American Satan is the kind of film that might very well pop up as an Alamo Drafthouse Weird Wednesday screening in the coming years. It’s a shame its distributor will probably not strike a 35mm print for the occasion. The film is a maddening hyper-nightmare of smoke, hypodermic needles, and hard rock that somehow is far more endearing than it ought to be, with a cast led by musician Andy Biersack as Johnny Faust, a recent high school graduate from Columbus, Ohio who lands in La seeking fame and fortune. Johnny and Vic (Booboo Stewart) fortunately have a plan: they hook up with UK-based group The Relentless — who’ve also come out to La seeking fame with manager Ricky (John Bradley) — and add a sexy rebel Cassandra (Tori Black) to the group. Pure talent isn’t enough as Johnny learns the hard way and soon the group finds themselves...

Actress Jamie Bernadette (All Girls Weekend, The 6th Friend, Sinbad and the War of the Furies) has made the move from indie cinema to TV, guest starring in NCIS : New Orleans – the NCIS spin-off that chronicles the cases worked in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment and decadence.
Bernadette made her debut as Callie Tillford, a Russian sleeper agent sent to take out one of her own, in last night’s episode ‘The Asset’. It is expected that CBS will bring the character back, if even to answer all of the questions posed during her debut episode, for an extended arc.

Noah Baumbach’s “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected),” which debuted in competition in Cannes and scored fresh acclaim at the New York Film Festival, is a day-and-date Netflix release, so no numbers are reported. It’s likely that the family comedy starring Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Dustin Hoffman, who all did substantial press, played well enough at high-end theaters in New York and L.A. to take a bite out of its competitors.
Despite the lack of reported numbers, a glance at the pre-buy seating chart for the Landmark theater in West Los Angeles for Sunday shows in a theater with over 100 seats that are close to sellouts hours ahead of time suggests a weekend total that might be roughly $20,000 (roughly). That’s impressive for a film that any Netflix subscriber can see at home.
Other openers continued the string of movies about real people that are dominating the specialized release schedule.

Universal and Blumhouse score yet again, this time with Happy Death Day. The horror film easily topped the weekend box office, adding to the production house's impressive stable of original horror films including the likes of The Visit, Split and Get Out. At the same time, Blade Runner 2049 dropped over 50% in its second weekend, Stx's The Foreigner topped Mojo's weekend forecast, Open Road's Marshall delivered on expectations and Annapurna's Professor Marston and the Wonder Women crashed and burned. With an estimated $26.5 million, Happy Death Day topped the weekend box office, outperforming the opening weekend for The Visit, which went on to gross $65.2 million in 2015. Based on averages for Blumhouse titles debuting over $20 million, it seems reasonable to expect Happy Death Day to also push toward a $60 million run domestically, especially with Halloween still around the corner. The film scored a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences which broke down 54% female vs.
