Parveen Babi Once Dropped Truth Bombs About Amitabh Bachchan & His Stardom. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Bollywood and its golden statements lay in the era of the 90s. Not because the stars were difficult to reach but only because whatever they said was less fabricated and filtered since there was no constant moral policing or calling out. Interviews were unabashedly real, and one such interview was when Parveen Babi opened up about Amitabh Bachchan and had some thoughts about his popularity.
An old video has cropped up on the internet where the Shaan actress was seen talking about her co-star in many films. The duo has worked together in many films, including Kaalia, Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halaal, Kaala Sona, Kranti, and Kala Patthar.
For the unversed, Parveen Babi died struggling with mental health after she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. It was rumored that she used to believe that Amitabh Bachchan would kill her.

Her incandescent beauty, innocent sensuality, and effervescent persona still send hearts aflutter and earned her the sobriquet of “Venus of Indian films”, but Madhubala’s enigmatic and beguiling smile and charm masked a lifetime of pain and suffering.
Madhubala, who passed away on this day (February 23) in 1969, earned tributes that have rarely been matched, leave alone surpassed.
She acted in a film named after her when she was not even midway through her career, was being copied or parodied when she was still acting, and is possibly the only Indian, film or otherwise, with a song dedicated to her being played at the Olympics.
She was also compared to the near-contemporary Marilyn Monroe – the two would pass away within a few years of each other, both aged 36, but did not welcome this as she did not consider herself a sex symbol.

General Hospital is getting a revamp behind the scenes.
It’s been a decade of the same on the ABC soap, with only a few minor changes to the writing and producing team.
Small increments didn’t seem to work for some of the long-time viewers, who have complained about the writing for some of the legacy characters and the rewriting of history to fit the narratives of their current favorites.
Soap Opera Digest broke the news about the head co-writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, being out at General Hospital.
The duo has worked together since 2019, but Chris has been in a co-writing position since 2017. He worked with Shelly Altman after her partner, Jean Passanante, retired. Dan joined Chris in 2019 when Shelly retired.

The Best New Artist category is easily one of the most anticipated awards at the Latin Grammys. Last year, for the first time ever, there was a tie between rising Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada and Angela Alvarez, a 95-year-old Cuban grandmother whose relatives had submitted her album — proving anything can happen. For the 2023 ceremony, which takes place on Nov. 16 in Seville, Spain, 10 artists representing different genres and distinct musical cultures are vying for the award. The list includes acts from countries such as the U.S., Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, and more.

Pamela Blair, who originated the role of the surgically enhanced Valerie Clark in the Broadway smash A Chorus Line, died Sunday at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, following a lengthy illness. She was 73.
Her death was reported by friends on social media, including her A Chorus Line co-star Baayork Lee. “I am very sad to say my Sagittarian sister Pam Blair has gone to play with her [A Chorus Line] colleagues among the clouds,” wrote Lee in a Facebook post. “You are free now Pammie so dance, dance, dance among the stars,” Lee wrote.

She had a film named after her even before she hit her career’s peak, was being parodied when she was still active, and is the only Indian film actress who has a song to her played at the Olympics. That was the spell of Madhubala, whose angelic features, beguiling yet enigmatic smile, and incandescent beauty, coupled with her restrained but undeniable talent, made her part of some of Hindi cinema’s most iconic films.
While she is imprinted in the hearts and minds of film-watchers as the winsome, entrancing but star-crossed Anarkali of “Mughal-e-Azam” (1960), as the entrancing nightclub singer in “Howrah Bridge”, and for her exuberant, effusive, and elfin charm in romantic comedies “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi” (1958), “Jhumroo” (1961) and “Half Ticket” (1962), she left her mark across film genres from ghost/gothic stories to comic crime capers to film noir, beyond the usual romantic dramas in a relatively short career.

The Producers Guild of America announced Monday that “Till” will receive the Stanley Kramer Award at its upcoming awards.
Producers Keith Beauchamp, Barbara Broccoli, Whoopi Goldberg, Thomas Levine, Michael Reilly and Frederick Zollo will share the honor at the ceremony, which will take place Feb. 25 at the Beverly Hilton.
The Stanley Kramer Award annually honors a production, producer or key contributors to a film who use cinema as a platform to raise awareness for social issues from past to present. The award is titled after American director and producer Stanley Kramer, whose films like “The Defiant Ones” and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” transformed popular American cinema with their commentary on racism.
Directed by Chinonye Chukwu, “Till” follows the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley (Danielle Deadwyler), mother to 14-year-old Emmet (Jalyn Hall). Emmet is lynched while visiting family in Mississippi, leading the educator to turn to activism, channeling her grief into the Civil Rights Movement.

Disney will soon unleash its latest IP redo as Warwick Davis' Willow Ufgood returns to the spotlight after more than 30 years. The plucky "Nelwyn" had a good go at winning the hearts of the movie-going public back in 1988 but couldn't quite hit the level of popularity, or box office returns, that creator George Lucas and director Ron Howard were hoping for. And so, aside from a trilogy of sequel novels in the '90s, the character of Willow was left untouched since his movie debut.
In the interim, "Willow" gained a cult following — a following that included writer/producer Jon Kasdan who took it upon himself to bring Willow back into all our lives with the upcoming Disney+ show. A big fan of the original movie, Kasdan always intended to not only give Davis' Willow a second chance, but also his co-star Val Kilmer, who will figure into the new series in some form.

Exclusive: Alon Schwarz’s hard-hitting documentary Tantura, revisiting the conflicting accounts around an alleged massacre of the residents of a Palestinian village by Israeli fighters in 1948, will open the 16th edition of New York’s Other Israel Film Festival.
The festival run by The Marlene Meyerson Jcc Manhattan (Mmjccm) will showcase more than a dozen works exploring Israeli and Palestinian societies.
Schwarz’s documentary world premiered at Sundance. It explores a contested massacre during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, touching on how the different narratives around that period feed into the Middle East conflict to this day.
Other Israel Film Festival executive director Isaac Zablocki, who is also head of Mmjccm’s film center, acknowledges the film could prove a controversial choice for the opening film but emphasized he hopes it will prompt “proper debate”.
“It raises important questions in such a way that starts a conversation as opposed to a way that is preaching at you.

As the "Star Wars" galaxy continues to expand, so does the sheer volume of characters that inhabit it. It seems like everyone has appeared in a "Star Wars" project of some kind, or at least auditioned for one. The franchise has become a pretty formidable incubator for lesser-known talent for this very reason. So many actors have been "discovered" through an appearance in a "Star Wars" film, whether they be relative unknowns or craft-focused character actors. Nowadays, it seems like it's less a question of whether someone will join that galaxy far, far away, but when.
Casting for something as huge as "Star Wars," however, is always going to be tricky. The franchise needs actors with star power for sure, but the more they can "disappear" into the world, the better. Fortunately, there are still so many underrated actors out there that could really bring something new to "Star Wars.

After a prolific streak with Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special, and Loving, we haven’t seen a new directorial feature from Jeff Nichols in six long years. It’s not for lack of trying, however, as he was developing Yankee Comandante, Alien Nation, and most recently, A Quiet Place prequel. Now putting those in the rearview, he’s announced his next project.
Deadline reports he’ll direct The Bikeriders, a fictional story inspired by the photography of Danny Lyon and his 1967 book of the same name. Set to star Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and Austin Butler, the film follows “the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club” in the 1960s. “Seen through the lives of its members, the club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life,” the synopsis reads.

Big Beach, the production label behind Awkwafina starrer “The Farewell” and Tom Hanks’ “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” has abruptly closed its New York headquarters and parted ways with a significant number of staff, sources tell Variety.
The cuts are a sign of the increasingly difficult challenges facing independent film shops, even those with awards pedigree and decades of survival in the industry.
Though an exact number is unknown, staffers from the assistant level up to heads of film and TV verticals have been served pink slips, two insiders familiar with the company said. Many Los Angeles-based employees have been dismissed as well. The cuts come almost a year after one of the company’s principals, “Little Miss Sunshine” producer Peter Saraf, quietly exited the company.
A representative for Big Beach declined to comment on the matter. Another source close to the operation said new heads of film and TV will be announced imminently,...

In 1940, “Gone with the Wind” made Oscars history by conquering eight competitive categories, thereby smashing the record for most wins for a single film previously held by “It Happened One Night”. It was an achievement that stood for two decades until “Ben-Hur” raised the bar to its current height of 11 in 1960. By taking home an award for her work, featured cast member Hattie McDaniel established herself as the first Best Supporting Actress champ from a Best Picture-winning film. This particular dual triumph has since been repeated by 12 more films, from “Mrs. Miniver” to “12 Years a Slave”.
A whopping 511 films have vied for Best Picture since the supporting categories were introduced in 1937, and 172 (34%) of them have had at least one featured female performance recognized as well. A significant number of women in this group were viewed as surprise nominees who made it in on the coattails of their respective films,...
