- Not even sixteen yet, Hilary performs a rooftop concert, her inspirational song used for the soundtrack of The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003).
- "Why Not" is the debut single recorded by American actress and singer Hilary Duff for the soundtrack of the 2003 comedy film, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which was produced and released at the time when Duff was starring as the title character of the Disney comedy series Lizzie McGuire. The video shows Duff singing from a rooftop; this is inter-cut with scenes of street scenes of skipping, break dancing and crowds running, as well as waist shots of extras mouthing the words.—Peter-Patrick76 (peter-patrick@mail.com)
- The camera zooms in on high-rise buildings and we find Hilary, microphone in hand, giving a rooftop performance of her song "Why Not" with her band. Blonde Hilary wears black trousers and a black top with a revealing cut-out style to show off midriff. She is only fifteen years old, and looks and sounds even younger. Several people from crowds mouth the words as the camera focuses on them as well.
"There may never be a sign, no flashing neon light, to tell you to make your move, or when the time is right. So why not take a crazy chance, why not do a crazy dance?" Encouraging words sung by the young Disney princess. "You always dress in yellow, when you wanna dress in gold, instead of listening to your heart, you do just what you're told." For super-stylish Hilary it all comes back to her passion for fashion!
"If you lose the moment, you may lose a lot."
There's a weird-looking dude doing an odd-looking dance to echo her words. People cavort in the streets, two girls are skipping rope, there's impromptu break-dancing, and a crowd starts running.
"You'll never get to heaven, or even to L.A., if you don't believe there's a way."
"It may take a little, it may take a lot, but why not? Why not?"
You know what? Might be from a child's view of life, but the sentiments are all exactly right.
