Not Flawed

Wanted to follow up on the previous review. The episode addressed that the kid was tested for gunshot residue, however the test came back inconclusive because he fell into a puddle, where he was arrested. I really hope whoever wrote that review is not a detective

Best episode so far

I've been pushing myself to continue watching this show, because I really enjoy watching Chicago Fire. Since, I'm also a police-show fan, I've seen a lot in this category, such as Southland or Bosch. To be honest, this show has been 7ish for me so far, but this episode was on fire from the start. The ending could have been different, but I think I can settle for this too. Good one.

*What a pilot for Chicago Justice.

Complex and Timely

Warning: Spoilers
I gave this episode 10/10 stars because, well, I really liked it. Another episode, I gave 5/10 stars because some of the episodes start to be rather plug-and-chug...ie., same old, same old plots where the intelligence officers always get their perps. Disclosure: I am a person of color - although, I am not Black. My son is also half-Asian and I am familiar with profiling, personally. I am often fed up and outraged and what I read in the news because, honestly, I see cops as heavy handed and (most) often guilty. Something needs to be done with the police forces across this country. But, this episode brought a different spin to me because after watching this show for almost three full seasons, I have come to like the characters of this 'district.' And, as the story is presented, the kid is truly guilty and, yet, the crowd goes wild certain that he is the victim. I think that this angle is the exception whereas inappropriate shootings is the rule over the last several years - decades, really - but this episode offers a different and thoughtful slant - a sort of 'what if' to a well-worn scenario. It also brings home the fact that parents - Black or White - often don't really know their children. Unfortunately. My parents did not really know me and, well, I have yet to figure out my son who has been an adult for almost half of this life

Amazing!

Very balanced episode that does not see the world as a good/bad place. Excellent view how justice sometimes works and how depending on the person on your side you can or can not be in trouble. A crime, contexte, facts, history and police and justice work, everything is put in in order to have a clear view of what is happening. And let's not speak about the difference of view between elected and appointed (not sure it is the correct word) civil servant.

A sad but almost realistic vision. As a european, I find this quality too rare in the us productions.

A last word about some people acting in this show and I find very good : Marina Squerciati (Burgess), Brian Geraghty (Roman), Philip Winchester (Stone) and at last but not least probably my favorite caracter of the show : Amy Morton (Platt).

Cop Out

Warning: Spoilers
Episode would have been so much better with a different ending. A guilty verdict instead of the no contest deal.
