The best episode yet.

I'm glad I stuck with the show. It was starting to look a little

sketchy in the early part of the second season.

But I'm quietly confident that the show is back on track now - just not let Bruce McD back on the director's chair from s2e2, he nearly spoiled the whole series for me - it's amazing how much difference a bad director can change the whole feel of the show from heroes-to- zeros.

But I digress... This is about this episode s2e8, oh and it's a goodie. New plot twists, further evidence on how the crew of the Raza are so much better off getting their memories wiped and a just wee hint on how android became "different" - all make for tantalizingly good television for the rest of the season. I'll surely be watching... just don't let the other director (Bruce) anywhere near another episode! :)

It's not you, it's me

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was very confusing to me and not because they went to an alternate reality. That would be simple. It think it's just that I don't have a good enough memory to keep straight all the plot lines and characters that have been drifting in and out and all around for 2 seasons and now all showed up at once. I was left feeling like I have to rewatch the entire show to get all the details that were thrown at us in a very short time. This episode almost felt like an alternate reality version of this show itself, where suddenly a slightly different version of the showrunners and writers took over. It's hard to explain.

It think my issue is that the ship didn't just go to the universe where Five never stowed away and the crew never lose their memories. That seems like the plot the writers were *trying* to give us. But it wasn't what we actually got. Because then how did they ever get the blink drive without Five showing up? Where did the fake Corso go - because the one in this episode was obviously the "real" one. And the fake one should have still been in place in the timeline before everything split and their memories were wiped. Where would Wexler and Tash have connected to them but not the rest of the gang?

I was also suddenly tasked with remembering who are all these corporations are and what is the role of each, because it seems like so long since that mattered. Plus what was the deal again with all the factions on Four's home world? On and on. So I was stuck puzzling out all this mismatched mythology for the whole episode and unable to pay real attention the complicated action that was playing out in this mixed up world.

So really I guess it's me. I was too stuck on trying to make the timeline make sense where just the one event of Five not showing up never happened. I'm not sure if I went back and rewatched everything if the plot completely ever would make sense on a quantum level like that. So I found that too bothersome to really enjoy this episode. But obviously that part has to be left aside. The show seems to be going in a new direction creatively apart from the mess where the season started out. It's like after the crew spent a couple episodes in the detention facility, someone said "this has gotten waaaay off track, we need to change course fast". Now it's all snuck up on us. I think it's a change in a positive direction?

Wish I Had a Program

When a series gets into the parallel universe stuff, it's not alway easy to tell one character from one dimension from the other. Here the gang gets caught up, trying to deal with those corporations in each reality. I had to stop every so often to figure out who was who. The clothes didn't help that much. I wish we could get settled from now on.
