Logan Paul, the YouTube personality and podcaster who has also dabbled in boxing most recently fighting former world champion Floyd Mayweather to a draw in a pay-per-view exhibition match, has signed with WME.
In addition to his nascent boxing career, Paul hosts the ImPaulsive podcast featuring celebrity guests, athletes, comedians and more. It has more than 2.7 million followers on YouTube, which has been his primary platform after getting his start posting short videos on the now-shuttered Vine.
YouTube and Paul have had a contentious partnership; the platform suspended ads on Paul’s channel at least twice, both in 2018, once for posting video from a trip to Japan’s Aokigahara forest in which he encountered a suicide victim, and another for posting a video of himself tasing a dead rat. He later apologized for both incidents and was eventually reinstated. His main YouTube channel now has more that 23 million subscribers.

Little Big Town’s just-released ninth album Nightfall opens with the atmospheric, gently rolling “Next to You.” It’s a song that’s tailor-made for late-night listening by a warm winter fire. Although the tune eventually builds to a more dramatic, powerful conclusion, the quartet’s performance during their Wednesday night appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers comes off as somewhat subdued due to the audio mix. In effect, it makes them sound a bit distant, yet their enchanting harmonies shine through and remain at the forefront of the group’s most engaging qualities.

YouTube has concluded that its investments in original programming should have a home on the free, ad-supported side — not just tucked behind a paywall.
In a shift in strategy, the Google-owned video platform said that starting next year it will move to make all of its new original programming available for free for anyone to watch. With the change, YouTube is moving toward more mainstream celebrity-driven and creator-based reality fare, while it will continue to greenlight scripted productions.
Until now, YouTube Originals have mainly been available on its YouTube Premium subscription service, although YouTube also has expanded the shows and movies it makes available on an ad-supported basis.
“As we look to 2019, we will continue to invest in scripted programming and shift to make our YouTube Originals ad supported to meet the growing demand of a more global fanbase,” a YouTube rep said in a statement. “This next phase...

While YouTube doesn’t fully break out viewership for its Premium shows, it does typically provide a viewcount for pilot episodes. And one of the service’s biggest hits to date, Cobra Kai, has just zoomed past an impressive milestone.
The first episode of the Karate Kid sequel series, titled Ace Degenerate, has amassed upwards of 50 million views since its posting on May 2, the team behind Cobra Kai touted today on Twitter with the hashtag #NoMercy. The milestone was achieved as the second season of Cobra Kai continues to take shape, with teen star Peyton List and the actor Paul Walter Hauser (of Kingdom fame) cast as recurring characters.

Married actors Josh Brener and Meghan Falcone have their Hollywood Hills home, perched just above historic Beachwood Canyon, listed at $1.425 million. Brener and Falcone, he best known for his role as Big Head on “Silicon Valley” and scheduled to voice the Donatello character in the upcoming animated series “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and she one of the four co-stars of the teen-centric Awesomeness TV web series “Foursome,” purchased the property just over three years ago, in March 2015, for $1.2 million. In a 2015 interview with Business Insider, then-rising Vine star and vlogger Logan Paul said that he wanted to be “the biggest entertainer in the world.”
“That’s my deal,” he said. “I’ll do whatever it takes to get that.”
Two years later, he was making international headlines, though probably not how he had imagined. Logan Paul’s YouTube Originals projects are on “indefinite hold,” YouTube executives confirmed at the Television Critics Association press tour Saturday — but they would not say that the platform had cut ties with him permanently and did not rule out working with him in the future.
YouTube chief business officer Robert Kyncl and head of original programming Susanne Daniels told reporters that when incidents arise involving YouTube talent, what’s most important is to “protect the community” of YouTube creators, advertisers, and viewers.
“We believe [Paul] made unfortunate missteps,” Kyncl told reporters. “Actions should speak louder than words and Logan has the opportunity to prove that.”

With 15 million subscribers, and a five-figure compensation for sponsored social posts, Logan has a massive influence over his mostly young, impressionable fanbase. Unless you're a teen (or a parent to one), you may be wondering just who this guy is. Logan gained a massive following from his ultrapopular videos and vlogs on platforms like Vine and YouTube. Following his initial social media superstardom, he snagged a few acting roles like The Thinning, The Space Between Us, and Foursome, and has a number of films in the works. The 22-year-old has accumulated millions of followers, subscribers, and a net worth of more than $6 million. Logan is the older brother of Jake Paul, and the siblings have been...

Each year, when “Casual” executive producers Zander Lehmann and Helen Estabrook brainstorm who should direct the new season, it starts with two very simple requirements:
“We sit down and make our list of who we most want to work with, and which good indie movies we’ve seen lately,” said Lehmann, who created the Hulu comedy.
“We’ve always really wanted to match the indie filmmaking aesthetic and perspective with a television show, so a lot of it comes from us sitting down and thinking about, ‘Who are the directors working in this space that we’re really excited about?’” Estabrook said.

News that Time Warner has bought a 10% stake in Hulu for $583 million, but no seat on the board, created a bit of a tizzy in streaming-media circles these past several days. While it’s notable that Time Warner is making yet another significant investment in yet another corner of the online-media universe, that’s not even this sector’s most fascinating news of the past month.
Just consider these developments, all more telling about the future of entertainment to my mind than the Time Warner - Hulu deal, loaded as it is with Hulu’s complicated management structure, owner ambivalences, and eternally shifting business plan:
Alphabet/Google/YouTube is venturing into original programming in a big way, as first announced at VidCon, where it trumpeted a series with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum, based on the Step Up dance movies. At last week’s Television Critics Association meetings, YouTube...

At its inaugural Television Critics Association (TCA) appearance today, YouTube announced that it has picked up rights to The Thinning -- a dystopian feature film from Legendary Digital Studios that's set to premiere on premium subscription platform YouTube Red later this year.
Starring Viner Logan Paul -- who is also featured in another YouTube Red hit, Foursome -- The Thinning will tell the story of two students in a world where population is controlled via a high school aptitude test. Paul and co-star Peyton List (of Disney Channel fame) play two students who discover a conspiracy behind the test and set off on a journey to smash the system, the Hollywood Reporter reports. Rounding out the cast in the influencer realm is Lia Marie Johnson. The Thinning was directed by Michael Gallagher, who also helmed the Shane Dawson-starring Internet Famous mockumentary, which recently debuted on Netflix.

YouTube has remained rather mum on the success of YouTube Red thus far. But during her keynote address at VidCon this evening, CEO Susan Wojcicki offered a glimpse into the success of the initiative. Wojcicki said that more than half of all watch time for Red is taking place on mobile devices -- suggesting the social buzz surrounding its original programming is loud. A Trip to Unicorn Island earned more Twitter impressions when it premiered, YouTube says, than Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, House of Cards, and True Detective.
Wojcicki also noted that Scare PewDiePie, a reality series featuring YouTube’s most-subscribed star, boasted audiences that rival the top shows on cable. To this end, Scare PewDiePie is one of three series being renewed for a second season. YouTube is also bringing back Foursome -- AwesomenessTV’s high school dating drama starring Jenn McAllister, as well as an as-yet-untitled movie with Smosh...
