The 5(!) secret ingredients that must be included in the film are:
- Western (genre)
- "Where Science Meets Art" (must appear in some form)
- Pluto (can be the dog, former planet, Roman God, or other)
- A food item being crushed (action)
- A foreign phrase
The entire film's dialogue consists of famous western movie quotes (or misquotes), stitched together to form a cohesive conversation. Bo! Campbell and Alexius Franklin were up until 6:00am the morning of the shoot, scouring through clips of old Westerns for kick-ass quotes.
Dirt Cheap Liquor & Grocery is the same location where Bo! Campbell and Alexius Franklin shot their first film, "Anti-Hero," together, back in 2012.
The original title was "High Noon," because it was originally set to be shot in a smoke shop. The title "Showdown at the Dirt Cheap Liquor & Grocery" is a result of time running short in editing, and not having time to add a title to the start of the film - The store's sign, therefore, acts as a practical title, with "Showdown at the..." added at the start, to make it sound like a Western (a play on "Showdown at the OK Corral").
