The entire first chase sequence was shot in a single take.
In order to stabilize the moving VR camera shot and reduce motion sickness, the production company had to invent an custom camera mount that used air suspension and electromagnets to keep the camera stable and secure in the back of the truck.
The vast majority of the zombies in the show were local neighbors who decided to allow the production to shoot in their neighborhood, in exchange for being zombies.
The production had only one day of setup and rehearsal, and one day to shoot. As a result, the entire project - including the psuedo-destruction of the neighborhood - was set up, shot, and cleaned up, in 48 hours.
The character of Nikki falling out of the back of the truck was not scripted. The actress (Nikki Bohm) fell out of the vehicle, and the cast had to improvise around it, as they knew they would not have another take with all of the pyrotechnics if they stopped the show. Fortunately the vehicle was barely moving, and the actress was uninjured, so they all kept going.
