The Props That Hammer Built: The Kinsey Collection (2002)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Hammer fans will certainly want to watch this twenty-three minute featurette that can be found on the Synapse release of TWINS OF EVIL. Hammer expert Wayne Kinsey takes us into his private collection where we see props from over a dozen films from the studio. These films include: TWINS OF EVIL, THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, THE VIKING QUEEN, THE KISS OF THE VAMPIRE, THE BRIDES OF Dracula, THE GORGON, Dracula PRINCE OF DARKNESS, FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN, MOON ZERO TWO, CAPTAIN KRONOS - VAMPIRE HUNTER and Dracula HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

I won't spoil what props are actually shown here to keep first time viewers from knowing anything but there are some pretty good items. I will say that it's another depressing affair as Kinsey talks about how the majority of props and stills were simply thrown away back in the day because Hammer didn't see any point in keeping them. So once again we're sadly missing so much film history due to stupidity. What is on display here will make Hammer fans want to check this out and there's even a couple items from Peter Cushing's collection.
