The BBC is bringing AMC Networks’ Interview with the Vampire TV series to the UK.
The public network has acquired the seven-part show from Amcn and will launch it on BBC Two and the BBC iPlayer.
The show stars Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Broadchurch), Sam Reid (The Newsreader, Prime Suspect 1973, Lambs of God), Bailey Bass (Avatar: Way of Water), Eric Bogosian (Succession, Billions, Uncut Gems) and Assad Zaman (Hotel Portofino).
It follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Reid) and Claudia (Bass) and their epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Bogosian). Chafing at the limitations of life as a Black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. Sam Reid will play the vampire Lestat in AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire,” which is based on Ann Rice’s popular novels.
Last year, AMC acquired the rights to Rice’s bestselling “Vampire Chronicles” and “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” book series, giving the network access to develop film and television projects from any of the 18 titles under both best-selling series.
The series will be available on both AMC and AMC+.
The author and her son Christopher Rice will serve as executive producers on all series and films under their deal with AMC, which gives the network and its external partners comprehensive rights to develop projects using Rice’s intellectual property.
The Rices have been trying to develop a series based on “The Vampire Chronicles” for years. In July 2018 there was a project set up at Hulu that did not move forward.
Rolin Jones will serve as creator, showrunner and executive producer of “Interview.

Sam Reid has been cast in the lead role of Lestat in AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire” series, Variety has learned.
The show, which was officially greenlit in June, is based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name. The book centers on the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac as he relates the story of his life to a reporter, in particular how he was turned into a vampire and then mentored by Lestat de Lioncourt.
The casting could represent a long-term investment in Reid on AMC’s part. As the company has the rights to all of Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” books and Lestat appears in multiple entries, Reid could find himself portraying the character across multiple series. At this time, however, “Interview With the Vampire” is only “Vampire Chronicles” series that has been greenlit by AMC.

Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery – “Charmed” (CW)
The CW’s “Charmed” reboot features three new faces as the Charmed Ones. Mantock previously starred in AMC’s “Into the Badlands” as Veil. Netflix has picked up “Love Island” for the U.K. and will have seasons one and two of the breakout reality TV hit on its British service. The first two seasons hit Netflix on May 1.
The streamer has been bulking up its unscripted lineup and has acquired a free-tv ratings winner in “Love Island.” The series went out on ITV2 in the U.K. and the finale won the channel’s biggest-ever audience, and hooked a large number of the sought-after 16-to-24 demo. A new season launches this summer. ITV Studios created the format and produces the show with Motion Content Group.
The show has contestants living in a villa in Majorca and pairing off for love, and a shot at a cash prize. The couples change during the series, and contestants not popular with the public are eliminated.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment sells the finished show and the format and struck the Netflix deal.

Twenty-five years ago, Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison (Helen Mirren) debuted on Masterpiece’s “Prime Suspect,” a show which dug into the sexism that still exists on modern police forces. Now that Mirren has retired the character, Masterpiece has dipped back into that well by turning back the clock.
Based on the book “Tennison” by author Lynda La Plante, who had created the character, “Prime Suspect: Tennison” stars Stefanie Martini (“Doctor Thorne,” “Emerald City”) as Jane Tennison, who is at this point a Wpc — Woman Police Constable — in 1973. Jane is just starting out with the Metropolitan Police Force, and has to prove herself even more in a man’s world that mainly values her as a glorified secretary, who can tend to their busy tasks in between her other duties. She gets her chance with her first murder investigation into the killing of a young woman.

As if we needed more proof of this strand’s ingenuity, the latest No. 9 was neither a house or a room, but a shoe. A lack of walls didn’t make it any less encompassing or prisonlike for the story’s lead David, a character played with painful depth by Reece Shearsmith.
What started as a light and witty portrait of an eccentric obsession ended as the darkest picture of a mind unhinged by grief. Over a spring, summer and winter, a lone shoe seemingly discarded in front of his house became the focus of David’s spiralling breakdown. Though as the CCTV footage playing over the end credits showed,...

The investigation into Julie Ann Collins’ murder continues in Prime Suspect 1973’s second episode, while, far from the police’s notice, the bank robbery planned by Clifford Bentley and his sons enters its early stages. Eddie Phillips, Julie Ann’s boyfriend, has still not been traced after his escape from hospital, and Di Bradfield’s questioning of the young man’s associates isn’t getting very far. An interview with the smooth-talking Dwayne Clarke (Thomas Coombes) is obtained through collaboration with undercover officer, Duke...

2.13 Land Of The Lost
It’s hard to overstate how happy I am with Legends Of Tomorrow right now. The show just seems to continually wallow in not just the minutiae of DC continuity, but in general nerdery in a way that would be unseemly on a series that was less earnest about it. But everything about the way nerd culture is used is contextually loving - not appropriative, but lived and shared in a way that other stuff (coughcoughBigBangTheorycough) cannot pull off.
For god’s sake, the title of the episode was a TV series populated by claymation dinosaurs. They’re not even trying to hide it anymore: it...

Adjacent to the world of rap music, Atlanta is a comedy series with heaps of heart and endless imagination...
You might know Donald Glover as Troy from Community. You might know him as the quirky scientist guy from The Martian. You might know him as the rap star Childish Gambino. You almost certainly know him as the chap that’s about to portray the young Lando Calrissian in Han Solo’s Star Wars spinoff. But one thing those of us in the UK may not know him from, yet, is Atlanta.

Over here, the TV series Atlanta arrived to very little fanfare. It did well enough in the USA to warrant its Fox-owned home network FX ordering a second season, but the splash on this side of the pond felt considerably smaller.

Following the news that Georgina Campbell and Cameron Cruffe have been cast in the lead roles of Lyta Zod and Seg-El respectively, SyFy’s upcoming Superman prequel series, Krypton, has rounded out 6 more of its series regular roles.
The biggest name of the list is arguably Ian McElhinney, who appeared as the honorable Ser Barristan Selmy in the first four seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones. He’ll be playing Seg-El’s grandfather, Val-El. We also have Elliot Cowan (DaVinci’s Demons, Luther) as Magistrate Daron-Vex; Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) as Primus Alura Zod; Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as an engineer named Kem; while Wallis Day (The Royals) and Aaron Pierre (Tennison) will portray Nyssa-Vex and Dev-Em.
As far as I know, the only established DC Comics character among these guys is Val-El, but I could be wrong as I’m not very well versed on my ancient Kryptonian history.
