Cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld sits down with Joel and Ethan Coen for a disarmingly candid and thorough discussion about the shooting of their debut feature "Blood Simple." The trio explain in explicit detail how certain scenes were shot right down to the film stock and camera equipment used as well as point out particular locations such as the bar and the motel. Better still, these guys even note various mistakes they made throughout the picture which include what they think is the overuse of tight close-ups. Moreover, we also learn that short people were cast to make the dumpster look bigger, the opening scene with Ray and Abby in the car was filmed in a garage, some pick-up shots were done in New York, Sonnenfeld vomited eighteen times during the shooting of the movie, and that M. Emmet Walsh didn't want to pick up his hat at the end. Recommended viewing for fans of the film.
