Slow start but this season has a lot of potential

Greetings from Lithuania.

First two episodes of "Ray Donovan" season 5 weren't highlights of this show to say the least, but they were intriguing. Flashbacks with Abby does look interesting and sad, but they are dragging a bit in my opinion - still the idea to show her in this way is interesting.

While fist episodes dragged (first one especially), this season has a lot of potential. Acting as usual was solid by everyone involved, but writing suffered a bit. Still with only two episodes here in season 5, i'm really looking forward to it and hope its going to be as great as all previous seasons were.

Confusing

Two different weddings switching back and forth with everyone wearing the same outfits. Would have been much better if simply shown in chronological order.

Gotta give them credit, they've taken a fantastic TV show and completely ruined it. It takes a special kind of stupid to do that!!

The writer needs his hands removing. They aren't fit to wipe his backside let alone write Ray Donovan!!

Two episodes in and it's doubtful I'll bother with next week's episode.............

Okay, let's see here, half of this season will be about explaining how and why Abby died and the rest will be somewhat of an intro for new characters, a new pillar for Ray to lean on since you killed the one we all loved. Basically I think you killed this show when you killed Abby, she was way more than an important part of it, she was a vital one. Then what? You expect the viewers to transition into the 6th season with that...good luck. I would even qualify this move as being counterproductive wouldn't you agree?, you might as well change the name because we're not watching Ray Donovan anymore. You see you left a huge gap between the last season and this one my friends, you left the essence of what this show was about on season 4 and then came back for season 5 with...well, a different show it seems...thin ice, very thin ice!!!

... from a bad start. In this episode we get two characters who should be Abby and Ray but who act like two different people. We know Abby as frustrated and angry, with only moments of mild optimism and Ray as a morose, sulking, taciturn guy and we get instead two sunny people wildly in love and looking forward to celebrating their wedding anniversary in Vegas.

Right in the middle of the flashback Terry crashes in and we have a weird switch, without the plot making it clear what's happening in the "present" timeline and what in the past.

Also big movie star Natalie or something needs to hire Ray just right in the middle of Terry's wedding.

When does Ray Donovan start again because

What is on now is a travesty in anyway shape or form. Ray and Abby acting like newlyweds?? Since when???? Terrible writing, characters acting nothing like themselves, Ray with his eternal hangdog, chipmunk look. Every other word is either " what " or " sure " in nails on chalkboard screeching Bostonian fake accents. Carrrr barrrrrr. Not just from him but the entire cast. We can all practice suspension of disbelief but constantly referring to an unattractive woman like Abby as a great beauty is as cringefull as it gets. The bordello scene might have sounded humorous on paper but was painful to watch. And are we going to see a near Abby death scene every episode?? Teasing us with the death of a very unlikable character? The poodle headed boxer looked ridiculous. The kids in the first episode were as annoying as always. Liev looks like he's sleepwalking in every scene and Mickey looks like a backdrop kissing everybody's ass. This show has fallen far in quality. So far that it may not be salvageable. Pull the plug already.

Fast Forward

This show had wicked momentum until it hit season 5 and all these flashbacks with Abby. The writers should have just killed her off in Season 4 and moved on but this "forward /rewind" in episodes 1 and 2 is annoying. Completely lost its mojo but I'll tough these Abby flashbacks and see if Episode 3 picks up or I might call it a day on this series early. Portraying this extremely dysfunctional couple as loving and committed to each other is a joke. He's a womanizer that treated Abby like sh-t which led to her having an affair as well. This sentimental garbage is laughable and shouldn't have made the cut.
