Segodon is poorly acted and historically inaccurate. Very little of the plot is explained. An example of this is late in the series Saigo wishes to lead 13000 men to have talks with the government in Tokyo. They are all armed. Yet this is portrayed as a peaceful act of petitioning the government. The government responds to this by seeing it as an act of rebellion and label the Satsuma men rebels.
Upon hearing this, Saigo is surprised and feels his peaceful act of bring 13000 armed men to the capital was falsely portrayed as hostile by the government.
Nowhere does a narrator point out the ludicrousness of this. They viewer is supposed to believe 13000 men with rifles marching on the government is a peaceful act.
Utter tosh. Every plot development in the series is like this. They put forth multiple points of views, never bother to delve into any truths, and leave it up to the viewer to accept that perhaps every revisionist theory is all correct instead of making a story on one particular theory and making it have a resemblance of a story.
