Wtf?!
captaintetanus17 May 2018
I watched all 3 seasons on Netflix for the first time over the past 2 weeks and when the last episode played I was confused. I thought Netflix had a glitch. Surely that's not the final episode, I thought. It felt like I'd read a book to realize the back 1/3 of the pages had been ripped out. Why must every decent sci-fi show get cancelled before its time? The syfy network puts out pure junk and then cancels this well developed show with great characters and a plot that allows a nearly unlimited array of potential storylines to draw from. There was so much more they could do with this. It could've gone at least 2 more seasons. I just did a little research and this show isn't a syfy original (not surprising, it's too good) and they weren't making enough money on it. Corporations :/ Maybe someone else will pick it up.

Knowing too much of your future is never a good thing

Warning: Spoilers
What separates this show from most is it's characters, as good as the story is, the narrative is driven by the characters motivation, and the perfect example of this is shown to us in this episode, as Six is willing to give his life for his beliefs. I was expecting Three and Marcus Boone to switch places, but that would have been predictable and I'm glad that the writers can keep us guessing. I love the other side of Two and hope we get to see more of Portia in the upcoming season, although the show has yet to be renewed, I'm certain that they will give this show it's well deserved fourth season, not doing so would be a crime. I know this show doesn't have a big budget, but the visual effects were astounding, particularly in this episode. Perhaps the best aspect of the show is the foreshadowing of future episodes, as seen on episode four where the Android travels to the future and Five tells her of the events to come, and now there all happening. Which leaves me to wonder, is fate inevitable?

WHY
njdmb197912 May 2018
PLEASE DONT END IT HERE! It would be another SYFY miss. Since Stargate Atlantis or Giving away Doctor Who, you have consistanly dropped original content and replaced it with stale or "shudder" style shows. "SciFi" was your best incarnation. I feel like you keep toying with the ability to become something beautiful and cerebral but you keep dropping great programming. Stop letting Hulu and Netflix pick up where you left off and compete!

I love Dark Matter.
gilliansl-868-52354518 January 2020
But you ended it abruptly, with no resolution. You didn't even have the decency to just kill them all for an ending. It was a fantastic show that was axed by ignorant studio execs who care nothing for the feelings or loyalty of the fans. Even the most basic utility android has more feelings than the studio. I watched because of the connections to SG-1 and Atlantis, but loved the darkly gritty show for its self and the characters. Actions like you pulled in this are the reason I no longer watch new shows and there certainly isn't a SciFi show out there worth my time.

I LOVE THIS SHOW

Warning: Spoilers
This was the best sci-fi on TV for 2 years. A shaky start that sucked me in and led to this epic peak. But we are least 1 season, perhaps 2, from the correct conclusion point.

I feel that I need closure. A book, a comic, a movie. SOMETHING to give this excellent series the ending it deserves.

Worth watching even unfinished, as the journey to this point is engaging

What a way to end a series. WTG Netflix!
praqoon28 November 2022
Having watched all 3 seasons of Dark Matter, and enduring the filler episodes which did not tie in with any of the overall storylines, it comes down to Netflix's reputation of cancelling shows well before their time or coming anywhere near to a conclusion. In that respect Dark Matter takes the proverbial biscuit.

Without spoilers, this season has been building up to a crescendo, and just as the storyline hits the point where the predictions all the way through the series come to pass, the end credits start to roll and the audience is left thinking, "WTF?!?! Where's the rest of it???" and they'd be right in asking that question.

The sad reality is that there is no more, because Netflix notoriously doing what Netflix does, have wiped any future seasons of Dark Matter from existence terminated due to low viewership of the previous seaons. So we're left with everything hanging in the ether without any progression of a clue of what happens next. This has to be one of the worst decisions in the history of sci-fi because Dark Matter was really gearing up to be one hell of a ride and enjoyable story.

Oh My!

Warning: Spoilers
So I invest all that time moving toward the big ending, only to find out that the show was cancelled before its resolution. There are about six unanswered questions as the final episode of season 3,runs its course. Now we will never know. While I sort of let this series take me over, in retrospect, except for the sparks and other special effects, the acting was awful, especially the crinkled forehead of 5 and her rantings. Anyway, there is no chance we will see any more, I will go on to something else.

Catch and Kill
twade27414 May 2024
The series was very good and except for the standard failing of perfect coincidences it had all of the classic features of most other scifi/adventure series. This is why when the Canadian producers made the mistake of transferring the series over dsyfy, syfy then killed it to keep their series dominant. It was too good for syfy to produce properly anyway. Syfy would have lowered the quality of the series with cheaper effects and probably replacing some of the actors as well as vapid writing. In the end syfy's own new shows would have been eliminated. So the only way to save those investments was to kill the better competitor.

Sad it ends unfinished, unlike The Expanse
GwydionMW30 May 2023
As a UK viewer, I just discovered this on Netflix.

Like many others, I was disappointed that it got cut after three seasons. And not taken up, as The Expanse was.

On the other hand, it had rather too many episodes that were fillers. Away from the main story arc, doing things like time loops, a visit to today's Earth and a subverted person that had been done before.

And it never was anything like as gripping or realistic as The Expanse was. Still, sad it was axed, when so much rubbish keeps going.

I've seen articles saying that the key was that Scfy did not own it, and so could not make money out of its wider use. Which suggests a bad overall system, and streaming may end such things. Or at least make them rarer.
