Funny

I wasn't expecting this movie to be so genuinely funny, but it was. The main character isn't the typical actress usually cast in romantic comedy movies, but it was nice seeing someone so relatable on screen.

Mildly entertaining

The cast worked well together. I hadn't seen Rusty in anything else and thought she made the film. Her character holds the film together. Her character decided to take a chance and explore a romantic possibility. Her family seemed kind of crappy to her and that was a bit depressed. I would have liked her trip and experience with Martin and her ex lead her in a different direction but then it wouldn't be the indie film that it is.

Im sorry, but this movie is so, so very far from reality. First of all, even prettywomen these days have a hard time finding a descent looking man. Let alone the gorgeous Martin. Being proposed to, having to choose between 2 guys...I dont care if they dont have jobs, its still completely unrealistic. And im not saying this because the main character isnt a bombshell, its because theres not a lit of depth or intrigue. Shes broke, doesnt take care of herself...etc. I mean C'mon. If this is what men want then Ill stop working out and caring about my education.

Another indie hit !

Writer/Director: Francis Stokes, has a truly delightful winner with this light hearted comedy of adults facing their misdirected lives and coming to terms with themselves.

Everyone in the cast seems natural in their role which helps this simple but fun story progress too quickly. I adore Rusty Schwimmer as Gabby deciding to break out of her dead end rut and pursue the person that sparked her passion. Her adventure from frozen winter Chicago to sunny warm L.A. will keep you involved and caring for her to find happiness.

You can't go wrong catching this film!

Entertaining farce

It might sound strange to say that this movie has realistic characters, when the situation is unrealistic.. Don't stop working out Melissa. But this movie is about flawed people, sensitive people wounded by their childhoods and adolescence, who haven't adapted well. It's funny, the acting is excellent and as an older man I can understand how someone who is down, would grab on to someone he normally wouldn't be attracted to.

I gave it an 8, because I didn't like the ending and I would have liked a little better character development.

A Reality Romcom
Mencken5913 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie kind of snuck up on me. The title just popped up on TubiTV and I said, "What the heck", and clicked it.

This is a romantic comedy that The Hallmark Channel WOULDN'T DARE make. It was VERY funny at times - but about the only character here that MIGHT make it into a typical Hollywood production is the "successful" sister (who turns out to be not-quite-as-successful-as-she-appears). The cast is solid overall, but Rusty Schwimmer is the standout in the starring role of the frumpy, middle-aged woman with an... interesting... job, who is ready to bite at the first shiny lure that dangles before her.

I was reminded of some earlier films, like "Harry & Tonto", "Manhattan", and the films of Henry Jaglom - though this film comes off a bit more like cinéma vérité than any of those. The characters are more like those people you DON'T WANT to admit that you know in real life, but... you do. (At least, SOME of them.) Life's losers, through some fault of their own. (At least, a bit.)

And... I don't agree with the assessment of some of the reviewers here that the ending was a let-down. The ending was just as true-to-life as the rest of the film: not "happy" - but not tragic, either. Just... "a work in progress", like the lives of all the characters therein.

Bravo.
