Absolutely sobbed and had goosebumps. Jerrika Hinton was amazing. Absolutely gutted her character left. She made you feel and love Stephanie.

Great story, bad directing.
DirekArenz19 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The writing is good but the directing is bad. There's a CGI shots that are very distracting that they can just cut it because it looks fake. Also there are some questions why Edwards didn't see the fire hydrant beside her. This is a director's problem

An Anticlimax
LoveIsAStateOfMind19 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Otherwise known as Jackson and his 3 women. Somehow in the midst of a rapist on the loose, Jackson manages to entangle himself with his ex-girlfriend, ex-wife and, presumably, future lover. It was admirable how intent he was on finding Edwards (no doubt through some lingering feelings of guilt) but then the writers choose now to spring a new love interest on him completely out of left field? Yes I know Jackson and Maggie had a wonderful moment on the bench outside the house in the episode where her mother died but all of a sudden they have ~feelings~ for each other?! What was that whole Jackson/April episode about a few weeks earlier then?! And never mind searching for the missing Edwards, how about sending out a search party for the missing Jo. I mean talk about going AWOL? And that whole Alex hunting down Jo's ex-husband storyline from the previous episode? Well didn't that just get shoved to the side. I mean I like the fact that Alex didn't actually do anything rash which would have gotten him into trouble and I know this is meant to show character growth but how about at least a scene where he tells Jo that he saw him and they decide on what to do about it together? The previous episode was such a fantastic build-up the finale was bound to be an anti-climax but I am disappointed on just how much was left open-ended. The fact we never got to meet Megan was clearly a tactical ploy by the writers to a) leave the audience wanting more and b) take the summer to nail the perfect casting for that pivotal character but I mean we didn't even get a reunion scene with the little girl and her irresponsible father! There were good things about the episode: I've never felt anything for Edwards but I've actually grown to like her the back half of this season and clearly they were just building that up to write her out which is a shame. I'm glad that she at least gets to exist the show gracefully and heroically and ALIVE which is a rare thing in Grey's Anatomy world.

The thing I loved the most though was Meredith's reaction to the news that Megan was alive. It was completely and utterly selfless the way she kept her head straight and thought all about Riggs throughout the whole thing from going straight to the hospital to tell him, making sure he was physically okay and then jumping for joy with him once he'd digested the news. No doubt there will be copious fallout and angsty feelings and love triangle-ness in Season 14 but I have to really admire Meredith in this episode.

No cliffhanger alert on this since the main focus of the show 'did Edwards and the girl survive the blast' was tied up but talk about lots of loose plot strings to start next season with

Was a good episode, HOWEVER....so many errors!!
carlabenavides13 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED YET! SPOILERS

This was a really good episode, BUT....come on people, am I the only one that noticed ALL the errors!?! For instance, when the explosion went off and Edwards was just feet away from the rapist, she lived!?! And had no burns.....until she ran through the fire wrapped in a blanket that wasn't burnt!! Really!! Also, when she brought the little girl into the stairwell, she couldn't go down because multiple floors were ON FIRE, and got worse by the time they were at the roof floor....THEN a short while later Warren and the firefighters came through with NO fire, NOR NO smoke and damage!! There were also other errors, but really! They could've and have done better! It's almost like there was a different writer for this episode. I think it was a rookie!

Follow-up to previous Review
je77-761-75416814 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, the other review ("An Anticlimax" written by LoveIsAStateOfMind) is pretty spot on...

I, too, am confused (and unhappy) about the Jackson/Maggie turn, but, then, I'm not a Maggie fan (at all), so seeing her and Jackson (one of my favorites) headed for something is not anything I'm looking forward to witnessing. (Truth be told: I kinda wish she and Amelia would decide to head down to Oceanside Wellness and practice there.)

(Also, as an aside: can there please be ONE episode where Amelia is second-guessing EVERYTHING and falling into a clump of tears over her crippling self-doubt?!? I am so sick of Amelia's inability to make a decision and feel good about it. Step up and be the hot-shot neurosurgeon we're all supposed to believe you are!)

I also think the previous review did a great job of describing Meredith's selfless and compassionate handling of Riggs. She's an honest, pragmatic single mom, who sees things as they should be (such the opposite of that fretful cry-baby Amelia). Her comment about "if it were Derek" was pure honesty in the moment, and it shows how great Meredith is.

The ONLY place where I disagree is when it was suggested that the reason we didn't meet Megan was because the producers wanted to take the summer to cast the perfect actor... WRONG! They've already cast her--and she's already made her debut (ep 13.8 "The Room Where It Happens"). Her name is Bridget Regan. I don't think it was actually her that we saw coming off the army plane, but with the long, red hair, it may well have been.

The show is nowhere near the level of consistent excellence it once delivered, but it's still a great show. Like SVU, I will watch this show to its finale, I just hope I know and care about whichever characters will be there then. I am happy we still have four of the originals left (Meredith, Alex, Bailey, Webber)--and I especially love the growth and friendship between Meredith and Alex--but we've lost a lot of great characters, with very few stepping in to replace those who've left.

Not the best Season Finale
bobnieradka1 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was anticlimactic as GA usually does but Thank Goodness this was Dr. Minnicks last episode. She was a terrible addition to the cast. As a long term GA fan, she's the first new cast member that was just so wrong! And Dr. Edwards did a nice job for her last episode, she just needed a better production team and writers.

Stephanie "wonder woman" Edwards
fayioann15 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Good storyline but way too unrealistic even for Greys anatomy. Are we supposed to believe that Edwards survived the explosion, run through the fire with a child in her arms and performed a minor surgery on her. It's a shame, it could be a great episode.

Too Many Inconsistencies to be Great
oakridgebadger24 April 2019
So, so many inconsistencies as mentioned in other reviews. This is the 2nd part of the previous episode, "True Colors", which was directed by Kevin McKidd. This episode was directed by Debbie Allen, and the CGI effects (smoke, fire) are truly distracting, making it difficult to concentrate on the plot at hand. Handing off a storyline to another director, right in the middle of things, is going to cause all kinds of problems, distractions and inconsistencies, as both directors have greatly differing styles and visions. That, and just cramming in too many sub-plots just for action-packed scenes is distracting and unnecessary. I've watched Grey's from the beginning, and this episode is one of my least favorites of all.
