Quotes

  • Diana Thomas : [in the Archives]  So this is Crane's man cave.

Jenny Mills : Yeah. What can I say? The dude loves his books. The library. Lab. There's a secret entrance behind that grating that leads down to the tunnel system.

Diana Thomas : What secret base is complete without one?

  • [first lines]

Ichabod Crane : Hardtack, peppered jerky, a myriad nuts, seeds, dried fruit and beverages. Provisions amassed here would sustain a year-long expedition into the wild.

Diana Thomas : [it's revealed they're in a mini-mart]  We're only forty-five from the Sleepy Hollow exit. Chips will do the trick.

Ichabod Crane : Chips. In my day, a road trip required more than simply a credit card. You needed the skill to hunt game, set a snare, skin, gut, and prepare a carcass, build a smokehouse, procure salt, vinegar, chicory. That is how you make a Slim Jim.

Diana Thomas : Check your raccoon tail at the door, Daniel Boone. There is no amount of colonial know-how that could have created the wonder that is... the Blue Frost razzle-dazzleberry bucket o' slush.

[she gestures to something nearby; cut to the gas pump outside, where Crane is drinking a blue Icee-like drink]

Ichabod Crane : [taking a sip and, after a moment, grunting in pain]  Oh... I believe this is what is known as a "brain freeze".

    [handing the cup over]

Ichabod Crane : Please, would you...?

Diana Thomas : [taking a sip before throwing it away]  Molly would kill me if she saw me drinking that high fructose corn syrup delivery device. But with Dreyfuss about to assemble the Philosopher's Stone, there's a case to be made for the simple pleasures.

  • Diana Thomas : Coming back here must be complicated for you.

Ichabod Crane : To say the least. I lost much in Sleepy Hollow. The lieutenant, my wife, my son. But for all the sorrow I experienced, there was also unrivaled friendship, camaraderie, and, of course, my introduction to this infinitely curious modern world.

Diana Thomas : This is where you first learned you were a Witness, right?

Ichabod Crane : Correct. General Washington left a Bible that described the responsibility Abbie Mills and I were to bear together.

Diana Thomas : Wait, Washington knew you were a Witness and didn't tell you?

Ichabod Crane : It was a time of war. I have no doubt my commanding officer had very good reason for keeping me in the dark.

    Diana Thomas : You're a good soldier.

  • Jake Wells : [arriving in Sleepy Hollow]  It's kind of... it's nice here.

Alex Norwood : You sound disappointed.

Jake Wells : All the supernatural action that took place over the years in this zip code, I was kind of expecting more of a Stephen King vibe.

Alex Norwood : Kind of looks like the town where I grew up. And that place never looked better than in the tail lights.

Jenny Mills : Crane and Diana will be here any minute. We should get a move on. All appearances aside, this place is a minefield of supernatural horror waiting to rear its head when you least expect it, so... keep your guard up.

Ichabod Crane : [approaching with Diana]  Welcome to Sleepy Hollow.

Diana Thomas : Where the magic happens. Literally.

  • Diana Thomas : Your desk?

Jenny Mills : My sister used to post up here. Loved her coffee.

Diana Thomas : From the way Crane talks about her, she...

Jenny Mills : She was something special. They had something special. We all did.

Diana Thomas : I'm sorry, do you... do you need a minute?

Jenny Mills : No. I'm fine. There's lots of ghosts in this place, but all ones I adore.

  • Diana Thomas : So Banneker took your advice and joined the colonial army.

Ichabod Crane : Became one of General Washington's closest advisor. However, I was not aware that this role extended to matters of supernatural import. My wife Katrina, Franklin, Jefferson, and now Banneker, all knew the truth of my role as a Witness. All were ordered to keep that truth a secret.

Diana Thomas : Yeah, it can't feel good knowing that such crucial information was kept from you.

Ichabod Crane : No, it most assuredly does not. But the past is the past. There's no point in wringing one's hands. And we shall adopt an altogether different approach with young Molly. She never have to bear the brunt of a soldier's duty in this matter.

Diana Thomas : Pro move, Crane. I ask if it bothers you, you just change the subject.

  • Diana Thomas : [Crane stares at Washington's profile on a quarter]  Can't look at your old friend the same way?

Ichabod Crane : Old? Uh... No, General Washington made the right decision, sending me after the Horseman like he did. 'Twas a sacrifice, but a sacrifice that may very well have won the war. And, of course, if I hadn't "died", I wouldn't be here today. Wouldn't be a part of this team.

    [flashback with Abbie]

Diana Thomas : That's what we are. A team. If you would have told me a month ago I'd be moonlighting as a warrior against the supernatural, mother to the next Witness...

Ichabod Crane : It will require a period of transition. But we shall ensure Molly's experience will be far different to mine and the lieutenant's.

Diana Thomas : I'll drink to that.

  • Diana Thomas : You think it's over? That's the last we'll hear from Dreyfuss?

Ichabod Crane : I'd like to believe it, but evil has a manner of raising its head in a way we least expect. But if it should... we shall face it together.

    Diana Thomas : Team Witness.

Ichabod Crane : Team Witness, indeed.
