After she fled the truck and was being chased, the distance between Lyle and Nomi was steadily decreasing, yet when she went into the woods she was much farther ahead of him than she had been during the chase.

Nomi is assaulted, drugged, kidnapped, and set up as a suicide attempt. Instead of contacting the police right away, she returns to the hotel. As a crime writer, she would have more experience in this area than the ordinary person.
After Lyle has assaulted them, Oscar tells Nomi they should call the police, but Nomi doesn't want to. Oscar as the legal occupant of the home and as an assault victim had standing to call the police regardless of what Nomi wanted to do. We later learn Oscar's sister works in police dispatch, so it would have been an easy call for him.
