The episode depicts a poor image of the city state of Singapore. The opening image looks nothing like Singapore - there are no prominent hills, no major slums, there should be many high rise buildings. Singapore means the "Lion City", not Where there is a sea, there are pirates". Characters mispronounce Singaporean names. Changi Airport, one of the cleanest globally, looks nothing as depicted. Singapore was not exactly built from a fishing village, nor is it fully of poverty. Conversely, it industrialised well, is ultra rich though there is inequality. Geylang is not a hub for trafficking and its image looks more like Bedok. Hawkers hardly cook on the streets which is illegal and the police is called the SPF not PD. Furthermore, there are no Malays and Indians or Eurasians and the SPF officer does not speak like a Singaporean. SPF officers also communicate in English not Chinese. The whole cast were not filmed on site in Singapore.
It opened with a non-existent "Singapore proverb" written in Chinese that said: "Where there is a sea, there are pirates." This is a fictional quote that never exists in Singapore. The writers clearly did not conduct any research.
