Warlords from four states compete for the Great Plains. Two states, Yan and Jin, are near the end of their 100-day war. While Yan State is severely outnumbered, its young prince Jing An has a plan.

Consort Zhang and Chancellor Zhang adjust their plans. Bei Jie makes arrangements for Ping Ting to leave Jin state secretly even though they will be separated. He Xia's proposed reforms are not welcomed in Bai Lan court.
Ping Ting makes her case to Bei Jie that they should stay together. Consort Zhang tries to make the King of Jin suspicious of Bei Jie. In the final day or mourning many pay final respects to the young princes and Queen of Jin.
The King of Jin's health begins to affect his decisions, resulting in a demotion for Bei Jie and misplacement of military power at a crucial time. He Xia uses his time in Jin to further has plans and to confront Bei Jie.

After Bei Jei is convinced to help Jin state, Ping Ting suggests they put off their trip for a month, asking him to return in time to celebrate his birthday. He Xia and Consort Zhang's plan is put into action.
With Bei Jei captured, the people after Ping Ting realize they might not need to kill her after all. Ping Ting recognizes the forces surrounding Mount East. Sima Hong grows weaker as Consort Zhang's poison tears through his body.
Ping Ting's defenses are penetrated, and she makes a play for time, however her loyalty to Bei Jie is tested. King of Jin makes plans contingent on the outcome of the situation. Consort Zhang puts her final plan into action.
Mo Ran begs for Bei Jie's release since He Xia has given a two-day deadline before he will kidnap Ping Ting. King of Jin hands down a final sentence to Consort Zhang. Zui Ju foils Ping Ting's plan.
Afraid that Bei Jie is dead, Ping Ting struggles to find the will to continue. Bei Jie chases He Xia, but is forced to change to a new plan when he cannot catch up before he crosses the Bai Lan border. Yan state makes a play for Ping Ting.
Ping Ting's health remains unstable. Ping Ting tries to convince He Xia that they don't have a relationship anymore. Bei Jie sends Yao Tian an ultimatum.
Ping Ting's conversation with Yao Tian does not go as planned, and she is horrified to find that the general leading the attack on Yun-An City is Bei Jie after offering Yao Tian her skills as a strategist.
Yao Tian races to get to He Xia before he is killed and tries to persuade Bei Jie to stop fighting. King of Jin receives news from Mount East country house.
Ping Ting and Zui Ju must avoid and outsmart the many factions pursuing them as they travel to Liang state. King of Jin seeks to have Bei Jie return to his side.
Ping Ting's unborn baby is put at risk when her health takes a sudden turn for the worse. Bei Jie chases after a rumor in hopes of reuniting with Ping Ting, which puts him in danger. He encounters some unexpected help.
Yang Feng worries about why Ping Ting hasn't arrived. Zui Ju is mistaken for Ping Ting, putting them both in danger. Bei Jie threatens to kill Liang generals in his search for her.
Yang Feng struggles with her grief and grudge against Bei Jie. Many attend Ping Ting's funeral. He Xia pledges to regain focus for his goals. King of Jin contemplates his future.
Ping Ting finally enters Liang only to hear that Zui Ju is dead. Prime Minister Gui is upset that Yao Tian continues to give He Xia power. Bei Jie is surprised by some information from the King of Jin but cannot agree to his request.
Ping Ting must decide whether or not to reunite with Bei Jie. Yao Tian balances favor between He Xia and Prime Minister Gui while serving her own ends. Baili Plum Woods wines are a success.
He Xia gains advantage over Jin army by manipulating the state's food supply. Ping Ting can't help but analyze the political situation. Ping Ting and Lady Thirteen meet by chance. Bei Jie (as Master Dong) mitigates Jin's food crisis.
He Xia makes a move to eliminate his enemies in the Gui family. Lady Thirteen announces the casino's last auction with a surprising prize. Bei Jie takes a trip on a hunch.
He Xia takes matters into his own hands to get rid of Prime Minister Gui. The situation in Yan state is dire but He Xia turns his attention to Liang. Ping Ting and her friends decide to flee as the Bai Lan army continues to invade states.
