Jennifer Lopez in 1999 was known simply as an American Actress, she had at that point been nominated for a Golden Globe for her breakout role in "Selena (1997)" and was about to push her career into a new direction, with the arrival of "If You Had My Love" Jennifer cemented herself as a pop culture queen the song instantly became a summer hit and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 something very few artists have been able to achieve with their debut effort (ex: Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera) with that came the even more Iconic music video for the song.

The video is gorgeously shot by Paul Hunter showcases Jennifer's abilities as a dancer and her screen presence as a gorgeous Latina bombshell. The outfits are perfect, the choreography (there's a dance break with multiple styles) is flawless. Jennifer Lopez really showcased everything she brings to the table in her debut video.

If you had my love was Jennifer Lopez's first hit single and video from her debut album On The 6. Her sound is similar to pop singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera who also debuted in 1999 with massive hit singles matched with impressive videos. Lopez's sound is heavily influenced by her latin culture so her music is faster than comparable pop singers and the spanish sound clearly comes out of all of her songs. In this song and video her vocal, dance and lyrical skill are on full display. The lyrics never miss a beat and the video is in perfect sync with the song and its message. The concept of an interactive internet broadcast fit this video and song brilliantly. A man is watching her on his desktop computer throughout the entire video. He streams her videos from her website. 2 mechanics also see a video of her while they work in an autobody shop. A car engine lights on fire but they are focused on the video of her in the shower shown on their TV. She is shown from above her chest of course singing and the men feel the steaminess of the video, they are shown rubbing the back of their necks. Her dancing video is also streamed in a club where many people are breakdancing, that atmosphere also adds to the high energy and refined style of the video. Ricky Martin debuted brilliantly in 1999 with Livin La Vida Loca, a catchy, energized dance hit similar to Lopez's sound. His music is also heavily influenced by his Latin culture. I love spanish music and spanish sounding music so I love both these artists. Ricky's 1st song is his best song and video as well. This song and video solidified her career and talent as a singer who can dance up a storm. I also love Britney and Christina's 1st songs and videos. These songs and videos are timeless, it is 20 years later and I love these songs and videos even more than when I first saw them. I was 10 years old then, I'm 30 now. The songs released then were classic and the music quality has taken a dive for the most part since then. Another great segment is when Jennifer dances to the Latin beat of the song with no lyrics, wearing a short, sparkling dress. This segment is in the middle of the video and she does the most dancing in this sequence, bravo Jennifer she hit this one out of the park.
