Chris Pine made an anti-style statement at the Los Angeles premiere of Poolman to celebrate his directing debut at the Vista Theatre in Los Angeles.
Pine decided to go with a look that no one would ever expect on the red carpet. He rocked a tan jacket with a flower pin, denim shorts and brown boots. He showed his love for Los Angeles with a white shirt, reading, “I heart L.A.”
In the film, Pine stars as an amateur detective in the City of Angels, trying to solve a mystery.
In 2018, Pine spoke about acting in the nude for the film Outlaw King on The Graham Norton Show and shared other people’s reactions.
“I bear the ‘full monty,’ and it got a lot of attention,” he said. “I thought the witty reviews were brilliant, but what struck me most was that Florence Pugh bears everything, too, and no one commented.

After earning universal acclaim for his screenplay for Sicario, Taylor Sheridan once again hit it out of the park with his neo-western thriller Hell or High Water, which was too received highly among critics. Arguably one of the best heist films put on the screen in the last decade, the thriller excels at everything it sets out to achieve, especially with the bank robbery sequence,
But critics aren’t alone in lauding the thriller, as the neo-western got a unique bit of praise from Cain Vincent Dyer, who possesses vast knowledge when it comes to bank robberies.

Hollywood star Chris Pine’s career has taken a downward turn since the release of Don’t Worry Darling. The controversy and chaos surrounding the film have put a “curse” on Pine’s once-promising career. Each subsequent project of the star since this film has faced unique challenges of their own.
Chris Pine in Outlaw King
His directorial debut was no exception. There have been glimmers of hope with films like Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves but overall, luck has been in short supply for Pine. What happened at the premiere of his directorial debut project is truly surprising.
Audience Walked Out of Chris Pine’s Directorial Debut Chris Pine in Poolman
Chris Pine made his debut as a director in Poolman, a film that he produced, co-wrote, and also starred in. Donning multiple hats on this project, the Wonder Woman actor must have expected the film to do well.

The story was penned by Ben Hopkins, and follows the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb in a London construction site, sparking a mass evacuation, which the serves as perfect cover for a heist.
“I had the idea of combining all the high stakes of an unexploded bomb with that of a bank robbery – clashing these two genres to create as much pressure as possible in a context that feels as real as possible. Ben Hopkins took those ingredients and cooked up the compelling script that we are now taking into production,” the director said in a statement.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson set to star in bank heist film, Fuze, from Outlaw King director David Mackenzie
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been spending the last couple of years trying to avoid James Bond questions since it was said he was testing for the new role. The Bullet Train star stated, “I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now. What’s in front of me right now.“ What’s in front of him is his next go at comic book movies with the Spider-man-related film, Kraven The Hunter. The Sony film, made in association with Marvel, was originally set to release last year. However, the strikes would delay the movie to late this summer on August 30, 2024.
While we wait to see what happens on the James Bond front, Taylor-Johnson has lined up a new project that will reunite him with his Outlaw King director, David Mackenzie. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Taylor-Johnson will be starring in Fuze, a bank heist movie with a bit of a twist.

Hell Or High Water and Outlaw King director David Mackenzie is to make another film with Aaron Taylor-Johnson – the heist thriller, Fuze.
David Mackenzie has already made one spectacular heist movie with Hell Or High Water, so it’s pleasing to hear he’s about to embark on another one. Called Fuze, it’ll star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with whom Mackenzie previously collaborated on the 2018 historical piece, Outlaw King.
The film’s heist takes place as an area of London is evacuated following the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb; based on an idea by Mackenzie, it’s the work of British screenwriter and novelist Ben Hopkins, whose most recent credit was the 2023 psychological thriller Inside, which starred Willem Dafoe as an art thief.
Fuze will also see Mackenzie re-team with Giles Nuttgens, the cinematographer who made West Texas look so bleakly captivating in Hell Or High Water.

Chaos Rising is a 40-minute proof of concept short film that was paid for via crowdfunding, raising a final budget of £27k – all of which appears on a title card at the film’s opening, in a way that I can’t decide is either a humble brag or an apology for how the final product turned out!
The film apparently draws inspiration from the rich and immersive Warhammer universe but as someone who grew up on Citadel’s classic roleplaying game, there’s little here of the Warhammer I remember of my childhood. Instead, it feels very much akin to someone who’s watched far too many episodes of the TV show Vikings and decided they want to see Vikings take on British knights.

In addition to accessing the emotional range of their characters, actors have to often endure physical challenges as well. At first glance, Midsommar doesn’t seem like it would be a physically taxing experience. But Florence Pugh recently revealed just how much went into the creation of and the experience working with the flower dress she wears during the film’s final minutes.

“Pugh has never turned in a bad performance, bringing emotion, texture, and richness to everything from ‘Lady Macbeth’ to ‘Little Women’ and ‘Midsommar,'” writes IndieWire’s Kate Erbland in her review of “Don’t Worry Darling”: the psychological thriller-turned-pr disaster that’s dominated Hollywood rubbernecking in summer 2022.
“She excels at turning her characters — all women on the verge — into fully realized people, unafraid to tap into their worst impulses alongside their most admirable ones.”
In director Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling,” Pugh plays mid-century housewife Alice Chambers in what many critics have dismissed as a run-of-the-mill suburban dystopia drama.
The film’s premiere this weekend closes out weeks of tabloid drama But for Pugh, whose performance has nevertheless been widely praised, it’s the latest in a string of unabashed big screen wins.

History is told by more than the victor of any engagement, and the stories of some cultures and nations have been told by many people who see things in one light or another. The story of Robert the Bruce is one that a lot of people have seen in various movies and perhaps even read about in historical texts. The unfortunate question that one has to ask most of the time is whether or not these tellings are accurate or if they’re the fantasy created for the sake of entertainment. One truth about history is that it’s not always as

Thursday’s death of Queen Elizabeth II dominated the news cycle, but the first day of the Toronto International Film Festival was filled with hope for the future. Introducing opening-night entry “The Swimmers” at the Princess of Wales Theatre, TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey addressed the two pandemic years that disrupted everything.
“It was artists, storytellers, filmmakers, who were finding ways to move us, inspire us, to remind us what we’re living for,” he said. “I want to thank you, the best movie audience in the world, for being part of this experience again.”
That experience takes many forms. The festival is a beacon for awards-season titles as well as red-carpet galas, documentaries, genre films, and international cinema. It’s also a snapshot of how the industry views commercial movies at a most fragile moment.

French sales agency Elle Driver is giving a Cannes Market launch to “Kid Snow,” a West Australian-produced tale of redemption set in the 1970s world of tent boxing. Production starts on Monday in Australia’s Goldfields-Esperance region, making it the first feature film to kick off production in the state since its border re-opened.
Boxing tents toured Australia’s small towns from the early 1900s until the 1970s, and were venues where professional fighters faced off against local challengers. The troupes criss-crossed the outback, boasted a carnival-like atmosphere and were places where Indigenous fighters could become heroes.
Penned by writers John Brumpton and Stephen Cleary, the story involves a washed-up Irish boxer named Kid Snow who is finally given a chance to redeem himself when he is offered a rematch against the man he fought a decade prior, on a night that changed his life forever. When Kid Snow meets single mother Sunny,...

Chris Pine doesn’t have a to-do list, but that doesn’t mean his career choices aren’t intentional. Mostly, the actor and producer told IndieWire, he looks for projects with a single defining characteristic: They have to be great. Over the course of the past two decades, that’s led Pine to a variety of gigs, and the multi-hyphenate has managed to fit films like his current releases (adult-themed dramas “The Contractor” and “All the Old Knives”) alongside more mainstream stuff, like the upcoming “Dungeons & Dragons” feature and the “Wonder Woman” and “Star Trek” franchises.
