It's an emotional good watch for sure.

Warning: Spoilers
This show is very good. Of course not a ten out of ten show, not a record-breaking anime. But it's brilliant, the soundtrack and everything about it is very good. It's not for everyone's taste, to me it was quite great. There's a lot of emotion within this show, such as the death of Ctholy at the end of the show. And Ren too. The characters are good and the motives of the army is very mature and political it's very good to see this topic in anime, it's very refreshing. The emotion is just about right. Yes. A lot of crying is kind of annoying, but I mean emotional meaning by personal deaths, motives etc. It was emotional and the show really leaks of emotion. When I came across this anime, all the comments I had seen reviewed on this show, were all saying they either cried or never wanted to watch again because it was so painful to watch. Therefore, I stalled it because I didn't like anime's that show a lot of pain. However, after I gave it a watch, and before all the misery came in, the feels of a loving family and loving characters were shown. It was a great show to watch, because the characters were showing happiness even though they was in pain, which is very hard to do. This made the show really good and it really built up to an emotional ending. I had to search up for a possibility of a season 2, however I believe it isn't likely. Although it was abrupt, I believe the death of Ctholy and Ren was a perfect ending to a emotional rollercoaster of a show. A solid 7 out of 10 from me. It's not a must watch, but I do recommend you give it a go.

Nothing New.. Still a Good watch

It came up on the recommendations and I started it after watching few trailers. The Initial episodes suggested this is gonna be a great anime in the further episodes. But to my disappointment this turned out to be a boring one with very few interesting elements. The background score didn't had much impact on me. Overall.. You can watch this if you have way too much free time otherwise just skip it and watch other great anime.

Rote but enjoyable story.

Overall the animation is solid with a fairly interesting "world", and although I'm not a fan of the overly common older man + Lolicon/Hebephilia genre it actually made sense and worked in this instance when lifespans are short as indicated.

Music choice for the first / final episode was exceptional as is the storytelling that happens along with it (I seem to have a weakness for "Scarborough Fair").

The story of the male leads suffering could have been done a little better, but I could still identify with his loss, so all things considered it was not bad..

The bleakness of the world, along with those trying to find happiness was well handled, all in all it was worth the time and I'd enjoy a second season

First off, this anime is dialogue-driven it means its all "talk" not much action but their is action but mostly talking. It is actually an amazing anime and a very underrated one. It shows this human Willem is his name protects this children called 'leprechauns' who wields weapons they dont fear death thats why Willem is to protect them as the story progress the emotional the story is. Its all about how to live, to protect someone, to love someone eventhough youre different. Thats why i love this anime the dialogue is so good the interaction is entertaining sometimes very cute. The romance is cute and very real at that. And the ending is so emotional, so heavy at my heart that almost cry. THIS ANIME IS WORTH IT TO WATCH

Surprisingly enjoyable
WeAreLive28 December 2022
Five hundred years have passed since the humans went extinct at the hands of the fearsome and mysterious 'Beasts.' The surviving races now make their homes up on floating islands in the sky, out of reach of all but the most mobile of Beasts. Only a small group of young girls, the Leprechauns, can wield the ancient weapons needed to fend off invasions from these creatures. Into the girls' unstable and fleeting lives, where a call to certain death could come at any moment, enters an unlikely character: a young man who lost everything in his final battle five hundred years ago, the last living human awakened from a long, icy slumber. Unable to fight any longer, Willem becomes the father that the girls never had, caring for and nurturing them even as he struggles to come to terms with his new life, in which he feels the pain of helplessly waiting for his loved ones to return home from battle that his 'Daughter' once felt for him so long ago. Together, Willem and the girls gradually come to understand what family means and what is truly worth protecting.

I honestly thought this was a fun series to watch.

I really liked the characters as well as the animation and OST.

Definitely worth your time.

Sad and Beautiful Story

The animation graphics, dubbed voice acting, and story are excellent. The best part of this anime is the definitely the story. Its both beautiful and sad, and you should watch it till the end.

Only thing I hate is there is no second season. Without it, this story cannot end!

This anime deserves another season
skoofegames17 November 2021
To be honest this is the third time I've watched this anime and its about time I wrote a review. Many people might agree with me on this, but this anime deserves another season. So please give it a a prequel-season on where it tells the story of Willem Kmetsch when he was a brave up until the point where he meets Nygglatho and Grick or a season for what happens after episode 12.

Wonderful story, sad ending

First many said this story is amazing and depressing and it's true. The story is beautiful, emotional and well done! Yet fans are waiting for the happy ending.

I loved most of it!
Emhilradim9 August 2020
WorldEnd was for me enjoyable, but I didn't like the ending.

For the first six minutes (ignoring that first minute sequence, that is) it tells you a lot about the world! After a young woman asks a would-be savior to help her find a location, the dialogue gives way to a beautiful love song (a unique rendition of "Scarborough Fair") and a sequence of their adventures in the city. WorldEnd is most definitely a love story, or at least, the anime covers the parts that could be called a love story. I haven't read the light novels or the manga, so I'll only be covering the anime.

So this is the introduction we get into this series, it's about 6 minutes of saccharin storytelling. After a brief conversation where she thanks him for a life changing experience, she says fondly that she can now easily die with peace for having shared the moment. And then our two characters part ways, not having given each other names, and the girl asking him to forget ever meeting her at all. But it is obvious to the viewer that their fates are linked. I won't go into details on that first minute sequence, and I feel like it would have been better if they hadn't even put that there. The story is about Willem, one of the last remaining humans and Cththolly the leprechaun.

This is a pretty short series at only 12 episodes in length. The music in the show is pretty good, "Scarborough Fair" for example is easily recognizable (though the lyrics are a bit different from the original, sung from a female perspective instead). When the show uses the term leprechaun they refer to the Gaelic myth of magic-wielding fairies, and not so much the American idea of a little tiny human wearing green and granting wishes.

Living a life of subsistence and mired in debt, the goblin Grick offers to Willem a job. Willem is hesitant to take the job once he finds out it's for the military, as he is incapable of fighting any longer. Though he relents when he finds out it's just a job of "watching over some weapons in a warehouse." Those weapons, as it turns out, are fairies.

The story is sweet. I enjoyed it immensely. But then the ending came and I was really left scratching my head. Is this really it? Is there no more to the story? The anime has no second season, nor is one planned. I'll probably try picking up the manga and see if something changes there, and barring that, possibly the light novel. If you're looking for a lot of intense action, you're not really going to get that here. This is about characters discovering their humanity in a world where there's very little of that left.

I certainly wanted to find out how it all ends, but you won't get that from the anime alone.
