- It is the heart-warming journey of father and son; the endearing pursuit of a 7-year old boy to find his dead mother, innocently mistaking her to be at God's abode and the tireless plight of his father, a farmer stuck in the vicious circle of drought and debt. With no one else to turn to, they travel to Pandharpur, God's abode, where each thinks they will find what they seek. But this search tests their harmony, morality, integrity and faith. Will this physical and emotional quest help them find a way to mend their bond? And will the underdog father and son redeem themselves to find a way out of this cycle of misfortune and emerge victorious?
- A 7-year-old Abdu cannot come to terms with the loss of his mother and innocently mistakes her to be at Pandharpur (God's abode), so when his father, Arjun, a farmer stuck in the vicious circle of drought and debt, suggests they visit there, he is more than willing. But the journey is not an easy one and tests both father and son to their limits. They face a series of misfortunes along the way - with no relief from friends and relatives, the theft of their possessions, not even money enough to buy a square meal. They try to endure everything with a smiling face for the sake of the other at the start, but when things get dire, they have no other option but to surrender to faith. That keeps them afloat for a while and just when things begin to look up for them, circumstances strain the father-son bond further, breaking the very link of communication between them. This compels each to take their own individual journeys of self-discovery. Though Abdu keeps to his stubborn and single-minded search of his mother, Arjun battles temptations and a loss of faith. Along the way they re-discover their love and concern for each other and the fact that together they can redeem themselves and everything they stand for. It is the stirring tale of the harsh reality confronting farmers and their families. But it breaks the clutter of negativity, pity and pessimism, and fills you with a positive and uplifting outlook, giving people hope and the belief that the underdog can and will emerge victorious.—Kartik Gala
