As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

Blake Lively was unrecognizable in her role as a grieving woman who seeks revenge in Reed Morano’s The Rhythm Section. Lively’s Bond-style film flopped really badly at the box office. During the filming of a scene in the film, Lively injured her hand, requiring surgery and shutting down the production for six months. The critics praised Lively’s performance, but her sacrifices were not enough to save the film from an embarrassing fate.
Blake Lively in The Rhythm Section
The poor marketing efforts of the film did not help its case after a thinly written plot. The film had the all-time worst opening weekend record for a film playing over 3000 screens. By the end of the second week, Lively’s film was pulled from 2955 screens.

“Don’t listen to everything your father says.” – Netflix has revealed an official trailer for the Mexican satire dramedy film called ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ by Mexican filmmaker, Manolo Caro. Interestingly, it is the alternate English title for the Spanish-based book with the same name ‘Fiesta en la Madriguera’.
The story of ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ follows the life of 10 years of Tochtli, who has been raised in opulence and rich culture. His lavish lifestyle contrasts with the darkness that creeps in from his father’s criminal activities – thereby, allowing Tochtli his ‘lavish life’.
This is about a young Mexican kid who is as spoiled as spoiled can get – he wants a hippo above all else. Some say that the story of this movie reminds them of Pablo Escobar’s infamous ‘cocaine hippos’ which might even be a reference that influences the idea of why Tochtli also wants one anyway.

A Simple Favour 2 is moving forward at Prime Video, with director Paul Feig and stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively all making a return.
A Simple Favour did decent business relative to its outlay in 2018, grossing $97m worldwide on a $20m budget. Paul Feig directed the darkly comic mystery about a vlogger (Anna Kendrick) who investigates the disappearance of her elegant (and enigmatic) new best friend (Blake Lively).
A sequel has been in development for years; Simon Brew spoke to Feig about the first film on the Film Stories podcast in 2018 and discussed the sequel when Feig was our guest at a live podcast recording in 2022.
We also have a synopsis for the sequel, per Deadline:
In Part Two, we see the return of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.

With the SAG-AFTRA strike finally over, it looks like Justin Baldoni’s adaptation of the beloved novel, It Ends With Us, could finally go back into production. No word yet on when the movie will resume filming, but it’s been on hold since May, as the film’s shooting was disrupted by strike WGA workers, a situation not helped when actors went on strike two months later. While the movie now has the green light to start again, it may not be so easy, as the movie will have to juggle the schedules of its highly in demand actors. Blake Lively is rumoured to be acting opposite Anna Kendrick in a sequel to A Simple Favor, but one of this film’s stars, Brandon Sklenar, will likely be due back on the set of the Yellowstone prequel 1923. Paramount Plus is no doubt eager to start shooting the second...

After an amazing August filled with unusual titles like Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers, Shiva Baby, and Stoker, last week Trace and I kicked off our latest theme month on Erotic Thrillers. First up: DePalma’s Dressed to Kill.
For week two, we’re headed into unorthodox territory with a contemporary example: Paul Feig‘s bisexual suburban noir, A Simple Favor.
In the film, Anna Kendrick plays mommy Vlogger Stephanie, who befriends enigmatic and enrapturing Emily (Blake Lively). On the surface, Emily has a perfect life: a wardrobe to die for, a hot husband in Sean (Henry Golding), and a high powered job. But when Emily goes missing and Stephanie is left to pick up the pieces, the apologetic single mother suddenly finds herself playing amateur detective to solve the case.
What she discovers is pure Erotic Thriller…albeit wrapped in the glossy candy-colored spectacle of suburbia.

It’s been almost two years since (spoiler alert) Daniel Craig’s James Bond went to that big luxury casino up there in the sky. But go he did, with audiences bidding farewell to his version of the character at the end of No Time to Die, a film which culminates with Bond sacrificing his life in order to save a daughter he never knew and one of the few genuine loves of his life.
Nevertheless, the end credits for the film announced loudly and proudly that “James Bond Will Return.” And yet, despite this reassurance to longtime fans of the series, there has been surprisingly little movement on a new 007 reboot. The 60th anniversary—a diamond jubilee, as it were—marking the beginning of the 007 franchise with 1962’s Dr. No came and went, but a confirmed date for Bond’s return never materialized. The conversation about who could be the next James Bond is, seemingly, eternal. And we’re here to keep peddling that topic of discussion until the new 007 is officially announced (and then we’ll start talking about who could be the next Bond after that). Bond boss Barbara Broccoli has said that a new Bond film is some way off still but given that Daniel Craig‘s final outing as Britain’s best spy came in 2021 (“No Time to Die”), surely some news on the new Bond is coming soon? Either way, here are 30 actors we think would be incredible as agent 007.

Taylor-Johnson is fast becoming the bookies’ favorite. Broccoli said that they are looking for an actor to be Bond for around 15 years. At 32, Taylor-Johnson would tick that box. Plus, the actor has some experience in a big franchise — he starred as Pietro Maximoff in the MCU...

Sebastian Stan and Maria Bakalova, both veterans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are attached to star in a new spy comedy for Paramount Pictures with Paul Feig attached to produce and potentially direct, TheWrap has confirmed.
Jenny Bicks, a screenwriter known for “The Greatest Showman” and “Rio 2,” is writing the script based off of an original pitch. Plot details are currently unknown.
Feig is probably best known for directing “Bridesmaids,” which began a string of profitable, high-concept, female led comedies like “The Heat” and “Spy.” In 2016 he directed the all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot, which became a cultural flashpoint, cutting short a potential franchise and leaving Sony to quickly revert to a more traditional approach with the release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in 2021.
Since “Ghostbusters,” Feig directed the delicious dark comedy “A Simple Favor,” “Last Christmas” and most recently “The School for Good and Evil” for Netflix. Feig is currently in production on “Grand Death Lotto,...
