Down under is at times synonymous with upside down

In Australia: Get caught with a crossbow and you can face up to 14 years. Knock someone out, resulting in facial fractures, get a meager 3 months in jail. This show is interesting in you see the inner workings of a foreign judicial system, yet at times, as noted above, it appears to be completely backwards. They should be commended in the manner in which they approach drug use, in that they choose rehabilitation and treatment over incarceration.

Interesting reality court series

Very interesting reality series on the Australian court system. Each episode goes through a few real life cases in front of a variety of judges, through the offense, evidence, and sentencing.

The procedure for court trials is actually pretty different from what I would expect, the accused is allowed to present their case as well as background and circumstances of their life. Judges take into consideration their background, any prior offenses and then gives out sentences. Most of the people in the series were given good behavior bonds and their offenses not recorded officially. Some were even charged but no penalty enforced.

Interesting

I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the court system. I have read the other reviews. I thought the sentences were quite fair although on appeal some people didn't get prison when they should have. Would be good if more people saw this series. It would instil confidence in the legal system.

Good behaviour bond - The Show

Everyone in this show gets off with a good behaviour bond. I would honestly be surprised if anyone is actually currently doing time down under...
