A new Lord of the Rings spin-off movie has been announced, and it’s getting the old gang back together; the producers/writers of both film trilogies, Peter Jackson, Phillipa Boyens, and Fran Walsh will be producing once more, and directing duties will be taken over from Jackson by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in both trilogies and who was also second unit director on The Hobbit films. Since then, he has directed three movies so he is well prepared to take on this one.
Serkis will also star in his original role of Smeagol/Gollum, and the film is currently tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. If that title means what we think it means, it could be a really exciting prospect.

Andy Serkis is set to direct the first of a pair of new Lord Of The Rings films based on his most precious character – Gollum.
It’s a good day to be a Lord Of The Rings fan. First, Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav revealed in an earnings call that we’re getting a new Middle-earth film in 2026 – one based on “storylines yet to be told”, apparently. Very cryptic.
Or it was, until the company’s marketing department announced who’s involved in the first film, now provisionally titled Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum. In short, it’s everyone from the first two Middle-earth trilogies.
Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are back in the producers’ chair (more likely a sofa), with Walsh and Boyens reprising their scriptwriting roles from The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit and, as you’d expect for the character who made his name,...

Jackson will also be heavily involved in the new round of "Lord of the Rings" movies, and will have a producer credit on "The Hunt for Gollum." Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit" co-writers Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh are also producing "The Hunt for Gollum" and are currently developing the script with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. Warner Bros. Discovery added two million direct-to-consumer subscribers in Q1 and it didn’t even have Anduril, Flame of the West to rally its following. Yet.

Madame Web should have been a game-changer for Sony Pictures. While Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage were box office hits, neither received overly glowing reviews and the awful Morbius left any possible goodwill fans had for the studio bleeding out on the floor.
With Madame Web billed as a standalone adventure and a movie that finally put the spotlight on some of the heroes from Spider-Man's world, it looked like the stage was being set for a new female-led superhero franchise. Three Spider-Women swinging into the action under the watchful eye of Cassandra Webb seemed like a genius move, but when it hit theaters...well, you know the rest.

Andy Serkis is hailed as a legend of motion capture performances. His work behind the mo-cap suit in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Planet of the Apes trilogy are widely appreciated by fans worldwide. However, it can’t be denied that motion-capture performances have still not received the critical acclaim they deserve.

From being involved in major IPs, including Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, the MCU, and Star Wars to helming on the director’s chair in three films, Andy Serkis has been a very busy man in Hollywood. Having marked his directorial debut with 2017’s Breathe, the acclaimed actor has gone on to direct two more features, one of them being 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
But the Black Panther star refused to return for the Venom threequel in order to bring another one of his projects to life, which was on the sidelines for over a decade following his packed schedule.

Rumor: Avengers: Secret Wars Will Finally Address Spider-man: No Way Home's Venom Post-Credits Scene
In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's surprise post-credits scene, Eddie Brock found himself mysteriously transported to the McU's Earth-616. The symbiote caught sight of Spider-Man on a news report and was clearly interested in tracking the web-slinger down.
There was no sign of him in Spider-Man: No Way Home until another stinger revealed that Eddie had decided against leaving Mexico.
When Doctor Strange unleashed his spell, Venom was sent home but left a piece of the symbiote behind. The stage was then set for Peter Parker to eventually get his own alien suit, though we still don't quite know how it would travel across the border to New York City.
In the three years since Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, we've been left to assume that this was a Sony-mandated add-on which isn't likely to lead anywhere.
However, according to a new rumour shared by The Cosmic Circus' @AlexFromCC,...

In the coming months, British actors’ union Equity and producer trade body Pact are expected to kick off negotiations to thrash out new contracts that will cover the vast majority of U.K. TV and indie film. There’s going to be several major sticking points on the table, many that are near-identical to those that dominated the lengthy and fraught talks between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP in the U.S. last year, not least secondary payments and the hot-button topic of AI.
But while these may be the headline grabbers up for discussion, a group of actors have been campaigning for another issue to be part of the negotiations: hair and makeup equality.
In her 2023 documentary “Untold Stories: Hair on Set,” British actress and filmmaker Fola Evans-Akingbola brought to light how Afro hair had been shockingly overlooked by the U.K. industry in terms of on-set provisions and knowledge.

So, there was a deleted scene in Spider-Man 3, in which Sam Raimi seems to have paid homage to his horror roots by giving the audience a jump scare when a dramatic image of Venom appears in Peter Parker’s mirror. The scene in question took place just after Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man discovered his black costume.
Fans ascertained a brief deleted clip in which Peter sees a flash of Venom screaming in the mirror. Raimi clearly does not fully get the appeal of the antagonist Venom, as fans of the character are still upset about how the character was handled in Spider-Man 3. The director appears more at ease, employing Venom as a metaphor for Peter’s darker side, as the latter grows fixated on the strength and self-assurance the Symbiote costume bestows upon him.

Although all three of the MCU Spider-Man movies have “home” in the title, Spidey didn’t feel like he really came home until the very end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. That’s when Peter Parker walked into a squalid New York City apartment, knit together a home-made suit, and remembered his late parent-figure’s words about power and responsibility. So why the heck is Marvel unsure about what to do next?
From the first stories by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee to the married father of two in Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man is almost always a hard-luck hero, a guy who struggles to maintain his personal life, limited financial budget, and Spidey responsibilities. One would be forgiven for not having thought about "Madame Web" for several weeks, but as the movie's theatrical run has wound down, it has come to our attention that its running total is in a pretty darkly hilarious place. Sony's latest Marvel Comics adaptation is currently just a few dollars (relatively speaking) shy of breaking $100 million worldwide. And given that it doesn't seem to be playing in any theaters right now, it will probably be stuck just shy of that milestone in the history books.
Director S.J. Clarkson's "Madame Web" has sold $99,312,851 worth of tickets worldwide. That includes $43.8 million domestically. Relative to what superhero movies have been making in theaters over the past 20 years, less than $700,000 is right next to nothing. Unfortunately, a combination of factors led to this film's demise. Critics were generally pretty unkind to it. (You can read /Film's "Madame Web" review right here.

Completing the other for dominion of the city/country, moral obligations, or simply having fun, there have been fewer iconic villains compared to iconic heroes. Well, in these recent times, the villains have been getting their fair share of spotlights and truly, they are more fun than the heroes.

Fans do not like the idea at all, as they believe that Kevin Feige is attempting to involve too many characters and story arcs in the film. This has the potential to turn the film into a giant mess. They want Tom Hardy’s Venom to stay within the Ssu, and Marvel could possibly introduce his arc via the next Spider-Man film.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. Sony has announced that Venom 3’s official title is Venom: The Last Dance, and has moved its US release date forward from November to October 2024.
The third and final film in Sony’s unholy trinity of Spider-Man adjacent releases for 2024, Venom 3 has now been given an official title – Venom: The Last Dance. Its US release date has also been moved forward a touch – from its original 8th November slot to 25th October. And that’s it. Bye!
Wait, you want more? Sigh.
As the new title implies, Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Tom Hardy’s final outing as the titular anti-hero, also known as Eddie Brock. British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films – 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage – will also direct as well as produce this time round, making it quite an auteur project.

The latest installment in Columbia Pictures’ Tom Hardy-led Venom franchise now has an official title and an earlier release date.
Director Kelly Marcel’s Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters Oct. 25, Sony announced Tuesday. Starring Hardy, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film had been untitled and moves up two weeks from its previous release date of Nov. 8.
In addition to helming the feature, Marcel wrote the script, with the story credited to herself and Hardy. Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker serve as producers.
Hardy returns as the Marvel antagonist that he originated in 2018’s Ruben Fleischer-directed Venom. Andy Serkis took over directing duties on the 2021 follow-up Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Marcel is making her feature directorial debut after earning writing credits on both earlier movies.

While Sony’s Spider-Verse movies Madame Web and Morbius both laid eggs at the box office (to put it mildly), another live-action franchise from the studio has been minting money – the Venom films. Despite pretty awful reviews, the first movie made $856 million worldwide. The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only made just over $500 million (still a lot of moolah), but that was due to opening during the pandemic (it was actually the third highest-grossing movie of the year). With the third film pretty much guaranteed to make money no matter how it fares with critics, Sony is moving it up slightly on the release calendar, with it now set for October 25th, 2024. The movie also has a new title, Venom: The Last Dance.
This pre-Halloween weekend propelled Five Nights at Freddy’s to a huge opening, and Sony is no doubt hoping to score with horror audiences as well as superhero fans.

Peter Parker’s new status quo as of the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home leaves him in a pretty isolated situation. Cut off from everyone he has ever known, there might be one ray of hope for the character, that could bring back the memories of the people, undoing the spell: Tom Hardy’s Venom.

I can't say if actor Tom Holland is well-suited to play Spider-Man, but I can say with absolute certainty that he is a first-rate teen heartthrob. He's handsome, affable, and dazzling in interviews. He has mastered the self-deprecating smile, and his tendency to give away the plot details of Avengers movies weirdly humanizes him. When it comes to acting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems little else is demanded of its leading men. Acting is less important than ineffable charm.
Holland, 27, has played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in six feature films, having appeared in several would-be blockbusters/prestige pictures in between, including "The Lost City of Z," "Cherry," and "Chaos Walking." Tom Hardy is once again returning to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe with Venom 3 later this year. Since the threequel is still filming, there are almost no official confirmations at the moment about what to expect from the upcoming film. But when has that ever stopped rumors from circulating the Internet? And just as expected, a new rumor has taken social media by storm.
Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)
According to the said rumor, Tom Hardy’s Venom 3 will include a fan-favorite character who is none other than Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. After the mess Sony made with Madame Web, Venom 3 will be the studio’s chance at redemption. Therefore, it is understandable that they are trying their best to make the film as entertaining as possible, by any means required!

Dceu’s fifteenth and final movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and more is the sequel to 2018’s Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman 2 follows the story of Momoa’s Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman working with his half-brother Orm played by Wilson to prevent Black Manta from killing his family.
The highly awaited movie upon its release received a negative response from the audience and critics but praised the chemistry between Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson. However, the critics also did not forget to mention that the movie was not impacted by the omission of Amber Heard’s scenes. Despite receiving a negative response from the audience, Aquaman 2 holds a record for Jason Momoa that only five actors have had the honor to hold till now.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has not been working for quite some time now. The franchise started strong. Venom was a hit among fans and breathed life into an iconic comic book character in the best of ways. Unfortunately, everything that has followed since then has been catastrophic.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage was a massive disappointment fan, and being followed by Morbius did not help its case. The most recent addition to this universe, Madame Web, reached a new low when it comes to Marvel.

It is, perhaps, because of this, that the hype surrounding Venom 3 is sparse. Juno Temple, who is to feature in the film, recently gave an interview where she tried to get fans excited about the upcoming film.

Rescued singularly by Tom Hardy and his utter commitment to his titular character of an alien symbiote with an attitude issue, Venom blew at the box office. But the sequel, directed by Andy Serkis, turned out to be the least passable spin on the buddy comedy. Right from the second installment, the Venom franchise gradually started degrading.

Before embarking on his acting career in the British theater, Tom Hardy was a troublesome youngster, expelled from three different schools. He gained notoriety and acclaim in the film industry after notable performances in the 2001 military film Black Hawk Down and the television miniseries Band of Brothers. With that said, he was rejected for a role that made Matthew MacFadyen one of the best actors ever.

2024 is going to be light on superhero movies (relatively speaking) but comic book cinema will be present on the big screen on Valentine's Day. Sony's latest "Spider-Man" spin-off movie "Madame Web" is hitting theaters, introducing several brand new spider-heroes into the ever-growing Marvel multiverse.
Following in the footsteps of movies like "Venom" and "Morbius," as well as this year's "Kraven the Hunter," Sony is once again making the most of the Marvel Comics characters it has the rights to in the larger "Spider-Man" franchise. Specifically, it sees Dakota Johnson bring Cassandra Web, aka Madame Webb, to life alongside an impressive supporting cast.
But is this a one-and-done? Or is the studio setting up more for the future? We're going to discuss the movie's post-credits scene situation in spoiler-free fashion. Seriously, we're not going to spoil anything. We're just here to arm you with information so you can be ready on opening weekend.

Madame Web was finally revealed to the public Monday night after the Sony/Marvel film held its premiere in Los Angeles, and the first reactions have already hit social media.
The superhero movie stars Dakota Johnson in the title role, a woman who develops psychic abilities. The cast also includes Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, Madame Web was written by Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Claire Parker.
Madame Web is hitting theaters at a time when comic book movies are experiencing something of a slump, following poor box office returns and critical scores for Marvel’s The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and DC’s The Flash, Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The concept of an extended Spider-Man universe under Sony’s purview originated in 2013, with plans for spin-off films, particularly one centered on Venom, emerging after ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ However, due to the film’s underwhelming reception, Sony shelved these plans and joined forces with Marvel Studios in 2015. Since then, Spider-Man has become a prominent figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Despite generally lackluster reviews for films within the Sony Spider-Man Universe (Ssu), such as ‘Morbius,’ the Ssu persisted and currently boasts a slew of live-action and animated projects in the works, focusing on both Spider-Man’s supporting characters and adversaries. ‘Madame Web’ is set to release on February 14th, but despite extensive marketing, the film has generated minimal interest with a projected low box office performance. Following ‘Madame Web,’ anticipation builds for ‘Kraven The Hunter’ on August 30, 2024, and ‘Venom 3’ on November 3, 2024.

The idea of an expanded Sony’s Spider-Man universe began in 2013, with plans to launch spin-off films, including one centered on Venom, following ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ However, due to the film’s disappointment, Sony abandoned these plans and collaborated with Marvel Studios in 2015, and since then, Spider-Man has been one of the main characters in MCU.
However, despite Ssu movies generally receiving mixed to bad reviews (looking at your Morbius), the Ssu continued and now has plenty of live-action and animated projects in development focusing both on Spider-Man’s supporting characters and his villains. ‘Madame Web’ releases on February 14th, and despite significant marketing efforts the movie generated little interest with a low projected box office. Following the release of ‘Madame Web’ we can look forward to ‘Kraven The Hunter’ on August 30, 2024, and ‘Venom 3’ on November 3, 2024. The Ssu keeps expanding and the rumors have it that another project...
