Self indulgent
Pryavery13 September 2017
So firstly I would like to point out that this is my own personal opinion. I can thoroughly respect the effort and dedication that went into making this piece of art.. and that is what it is.. a piece of art.. beautifully crafted and put together. But now I will review it as a movie l. As a movie it was dark and in-depth about various emotional and mental issues, as a movie it came across as completely self indulgent.. almost arrogant in the way of look at everything I've suffered and I'm still amazing.. worship me. It was long winded and Tiring, every time you thought it was the ending it wasn't. The acting was rigid and mechanical, and it literally was all about moving to Brighton .. there was no real movement in the movie# no action no edge of the seat suspense, no darkness or grip. Just drivel.

Moving and inspiring!

What can I say? I saw this film at the premiere and it was something to behold, beyond words, it was pure emotion. The movie dealt with a variety of disorders and thoughts that a lot of people encounter day to day basis. The struggles and the hurdles that people over come shown in an artistic setting brings you to relate to the main character on a deep and passionate level, rooting for them and finding the struggles inside yourself, wanting to fight those too. A true masterpiece that moves your very soul. This movie is like nothing else. Do yourself a favor a take the time to partake in this experience.

Clever, emotional and moving

This film is very clever. It has several threads weaving in and out, a story, some reality, some fantasy and the inspiring use of beautiful, original music that captures each scene perfectly. The threads intertwine and eventually come together to reveal a beautifully written and artistic film. It is a little slow and a little long and yet the viewer finds that they are wanting it to end but still need closure and perhaps a Fairy tale ending whereby they all lived happily ever after. Of course you will have to watch The Granary to see how it does end. It touches on so many mental health issues that possibly a great deal of our younger generation can relate to, it does not make a mockery of those suffering, it gently shows that there may just be light at the end of a very dark tunnel. This film is very clever.

Stylish debut micro-budget film with amazing original score

This is quite a dark autobiographical film touching on depression, agoraphobia eating disorders and gender. It is a long film and a little slow in places but very visually interesting and the way the different senses are portrayed is inventive.

The acting isn't going to set the world on fire but the lighting, composition, camera-work and image quality are very impressive for a film with a budget of just a few hundred pounds. Saving the best 'til last; the original orchestral soundtrack is insanely good and would not be out of place on a big budget box office epic. It is THAT GOOD and really pulls this film together.

Very watchable

I loved this film. I was drawn in by the visual feel, music and storyline.

It takes guts and determination to put a film together on a shoestring budget. This film feels like something with a far larger budget, something put together with a professional eye for detail that doesn't let budget get in the way.

If you are tired of the usual Hollywood style films and want something with a bit more depth and art, give this a look.
