- Brian Cassidy: [to Stone] I heard that Reggie confessed.
- Peter Stone: Yeah, he did.
- Brian Cassidy: I mean, can you cut this kid a deal? Don't you think he's suffered enough?
- Peter Stone: So, you total my case, you... uh... run from a murder scene, and hole up with a fellow officer, and now you're telling me how to do my job?
- Brian Cassidy: Okay, so then fire me then, all right? I deserve that. I get that, but not Reggie. Come on, man. After what West did to him? This kid's gonna be chasing demons away the rest of his life. Every relationship, every time this kid looks into a mirror, there's just there's gonna be this looming shadow there.
- Olivia Benson: Hey, who's handling the West case at Homicide?
- Amanda Rollins: Uh, Detective Devin Holiday. She made it clear that she did not want our help.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: Yeah, and if I'm not mistaken, she flashed a quick peek at the race card.
- Odafin Tutuola: Holiday? You know her father's the Deputy Commissioner of Corrections.
- Amanda Rollins: Explains the gold shield.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: Yeah, and the attitude.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: [to Detective Holiday] It's a little early in the morning for stick up your ass.
- Amanda Rollins: Liv, what's going on?
- Olivia Benson: What do you mean?
- Amanda Rollins: The pair of men's boots at your apartment this morning.
- Olivia Benson: Excuse me?
- Amanda Rollins: You're really gonna make me work this hard for it?
- Olivia Benson: They're Cassidy's.
- Amanda Rollins: Are you kidding me?
- Olivia Benson: It's not what you think.
- [sighs]
- Olivia Benson: Cassidy was at West's brownstone last night. He went there to admonish him.
- Amanda Rollins: Admonish him?
- Olivia Benson: Never got the chance. Walked in, he was hit over the head from behind and when he woke up, he found West's body.
- Amanda Rollins: You believe that?
- Olivia Benson: He's in pretty bad shape, Amanda.
- Amanda Rollins: Is he still there? He needs to come in, Liv.
- Olivia Benson: Yes. And he will. Just not yet.
- Amanda Rollins: Because you and Cassidy used to be together?
- Olivia Benson: If I thought that he had anything to do with this, that wouldn't matter, and you know that.
- Amanda Rollins: Come on, Liv. He exploded in the courtroom. I mean, what's he what's he capable of one-on-one after a few tequila shots? I mean, he could just be playing you.
- Olivia Benson: Amanda, can you just give me a little bit of credit?
- Amanda Rollins: I know Cassidy. And I know his fuse is so short, and he is notorious for making really bad decisions.
- Olivia Benson: What would you do, Amanda?
- Amanda Rollins: [stammers, then sighs] So, what... what's your plan?
- Olivia Benson: For now... for now, we work the case.
- Amanda Rollins: And if Stone finds out that Cassidy's hiding out in your apartment, it's not just your ass on the line now. It's mine too.
- Amanda Rollins: [to Detective Holiday] SVU spent two years with these families building a case. Just because it's over doesn't mean we fall off the face of the earth.
- Detective Devin Holiday: Does your lieutenant know you're here?
- Amanda Rollins: I'm not trying to step on your toes.
- Detective Devin Holiday: I already told you once to back off.
- Amanda Rollins: Take it easy!
- Detective Devin Holiday: You know what happens if one of these witnesses gets on the stand and the defense finds out he told two different stories to two different cops?
- Amanda Rollins: I know you're trying to prove something. It would be helpful if you were a little less of a bitch about it.
- Detective Devin Holiday: [laughs] Okay, thanks for the advice.
- Brian Cassidy: [to Rollins] I didn't kill West.
- Amanda Rollins: But you got drunk? You went over there looking for a fight? Yeah, why else would you be hiding out here?
- Brian Cassidy: I didn't have a choice!
- Amanda Rollins: No? Oh, so now you're just gonna sit back and watch Liv destroy her own career?
- Brian Cassidy: What are you talking about?
- Amanda Rollins: Stone is at the squad room right now, ripping her a new one because he found out that we're back working West's case. So when Stone finds out that you were at West's brownstone...
- Brian Cassidy: She'll think of something.
- Amanda Rollins: Oh, Cassidy, she shouldn't have to! You you really want charges brought against her?
- Brian Cassidy: That's not gonna happen.
- Amanda Rollins: Why? Because your ass is covered, right, Brian? And the hell with everybody else? I got ya.
- Brian Cassidy: Oh, that's really rich! Really rich coming from you, Rollins. You got some skeletons in your closet, right? Who bailed you out?
- Amanda Rollins: That was different. God only knows why she trusts you.
- Brian Cassidy: Hey, you think I killed West, hmm? Go ahead. Arrest me.
- Amanda Rollins: You know I would never go against Liv, and if you ever gave a damn about her, I'd man up and turn yourself in.
- Olivia Benson: [to Detective Holiday after Cassidy asks for a lawyer] Hey. He asked for his lawyer.
- Detective Devin Holiday: Defending your ex. That's touching.
- Olivia Benson: I wouldn't need to if I thought he was getting a fair shake in here.
- Detective Devin Holiday: You have something that points to another suspect? I didn't think so.
- Olivia Benson: So, you do what you need to do, Detective, but the next time you have a problem with me, at least have the balls to talk to me face-to-face, huh? Cop to cop.
- Odafin Tutuola: Stone, don't come down so hard on Liv.
- Peter Stone: You a part of this too, Detective?
- Odafin Tutuola: If she had asked me to, I would've been.
- Peter Stone: That's refreshing.
- Odafin Tutuola: You stick around long enough, you'll see.
- Peter Stone: What? That you're all criminals?
- Odafin Tutuola: Yo, Stone. Stone, listen. When I first got to SVU, I was a hot head, okay? More times than I'd like to admit. I wanted to put a bullet in one of those sickos' heads. Liv saw I was spiraling and she sent me home so I could get my head together. If she thought Cassidy was guilty, she would've brought him in.
- Peter Stone: So I'm just supposed to ignore the fact that she lied to me?
- Odafin Tutuola: I've been around the block a couple of times. Trust me on this.
- Amanda Rollins: This morning, my dog Frannie woke me up by licking me all over my face. That's gross, right?
- Noah Porter-Benson: Frannie sleeps in your bed?
- Amanda Rollins: Yeah. She's not supposed to, but she does it anyway.
- Brian Cassidy: Can't believe you actually held on to these sweats.
- Olivia Benson: I wear them to clean my toilet.
- Peter Stone: [to Olivia about Cassidy] You work with him before?
- Olivia Benson: I have, and normally he's money.
- Peter Stone: Well, you'd never be able to tell that from his performance today. I can't believe I let Jack McCoy talk me into taking this job.
- Olivia Benson: Why did you?
- Peter Stone: Something came up after my father died. And I didn't see it coming.
- Olivia Benson: Look, we need to make sure that these families know that we are not giving up on them.
- Brian Cassidy: [to Olivia] What, did you come here to read me the Riot Act, Liv, huh? Is that what you came to do?
- Olivia Benson: No, I'm gonna leave that job to Stone.
- Brian Cassidy: What was I supposed to do in there, huh? Was I supposed to just to sit back, huh, and then take it?
- Olivia Benson: You don't think, Brian.
- Brian Cassidy: I screwed up. I'm sorry. Next time...
- Olivia Benson: If there is a next time.
- Brian Cassidy: What are you talking about?
- Olivia Benson: What am I talking about? West might walk, that's what I'm talking about because of your epic tantrum.
- Brian Cassidy: What?
- Olivia Benson: And I don't think those families can handle another trial, Brian.
- Brian Cassidy: Then you gotta go talk to them, right? No, no, no. You gotta go do your thing, right? 'Cause you're the best. Yeah. You're the Olivia Benson!
- Olivia Benson: [to Stone] You didn't have to call Holiday. I could've handled this myself.
- Peter Stone: You think for a minute I'm going to let you interrogate your ex-boyfriend?
- Olivia Benson: Okay, Peter, listen to me. Cassidy has been staying at my apartment. I know how this looks...
- Peter Stone: Right now, it looks like you were obstructing justice.
- Olivia Benson: I was trying to get justice.
- Peter Stone: By running a rogue investigation?
- Olivia Benson: So what are you gonna do? Prosecute everyone here?
- Peter Stone: If they keep killing people.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: [arriving at a crime scene] Hey, what's up?
- Amanda Rollins: Hi. Weren't you wearing that same suit yesterday?
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: My, um... my dry cleaner shut down.
- Amanda Rollins: Oh, that's too bad. I thought you might be getting laid.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: Don't think too much, Rollins.
- Fitz: Tests for contaminants came back. Pretty much all the DNA was West's, obviously, but there were trace amounts from another source.
- Amanda Rollins: Brian Cassidy?
- Fitz: Nope.
- Olivia Benson: Somebody else in the system?
- Fitz: Not unless you have a database for Sea World.
- Olivia Benson: What?
- Fitz: It's from a fish.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: Okay, that's- that's not helping.
- Peter Stone: You can't be running a parallel investigation.
- Olivia Benson: I agree with you, and with all due respect to Detective Holiday, I believe that I am better equipped to run this case.
- Peter Stone: Homicide caught the case. If she needs your help, she will ask for it.
- Olivia Benson: I have a son. Uh, Noah. He's adopted, and not too long ago, he was kidnapped by his biological grandmother. She didn't hurt him, but... I can't sleep at night. I stare at him at night while he's sleeping, wondering if he's gonna be okay. The damage that West did to these boys...
- Peter Stone: Doesn't justify murder.
- Olivia Benson: My point is is that this case, no matter how it plays out, has to be dealt with sensitively.
- Brian Cassidy: You know what happens if I come in. You know that- that if I say that I went to West's house, after what I said in court, case closed.
- Olivia Benson: Okay... so let's go back to the beginning. What is the first thing you remember when you went inside that house, Brian? Did you hear anything? Did you see any piece of their clothing? Did you smell anything? Did you smell his blood?
- Brian Cassidy: You're not gonna trigger anything here. I was blitzed.
- Olivia Benson: You want my help, you're gonna do it my way. Otherwise, there's the door.
- Brian Cassidy: If anyone can prove that I didn't kill West, it's you.
- Olivia Benson: Just because I agree to hear you out does not mean that I won't turn you in.
- Peter Stone: I hear you're a Mets fan.
- Reggie Price: Oh, you're here to talk about baseball?
- Peter Stone: Yeah, why not? We've got some time to kill. You know I used to play for the Cubs? Just for a cup of coffee. I blew out my UCL. I had to quit. That was a bad time for me. My whole identity was wrapped up in being a ballplayer, and when I felt that ligament rip, it was like someone robbed me of who I was; everything I could be, kinda like what Dr. West did to Sammy. I didn't have anyone to blame... nowhere to put my anger, and it tore me up inside.
- Reggie Price: You blamed yourself?
- Peter Stone: Yeah. Plus, I let my family down.
- Reggie Price: What happened to Sammy... that's on me.
- Peter Stone: You couldn't have known.
- Reggie Price: Yeah. Yeah- yeah, I did. And I didn't do anything to protect him.
- Sergeant Ryan Klypla: Housekeeper's inside. She found the vic, called 911. DOA when we got here.
- Dominick Carisi Jr.: So why'd you notify SVU?
- Sergeant Ryan Klypla: [leading him and Rollins inside] Say hello again to your friend Dr. West. No forced entry, multiple stab wounds.
- Fitz: Yeah, it looks like he was stabbed about ten times. One thrust to the neck pierced his external carotid artery. He bled out in less than a minute.
- Sergeant Ryan Klypla: Too bad the son of a bitch didn't suffer.
- Dr. West's Attorney: [to Cassidy] When you went to arrest my client, did he have a swollen face and a black eye?
- Brian Cassidy: He resisted.
- Dr. West's Attorney: So you smashed his face into a desk and you called him a monkey?
- Brian Cassidy: That's a lie!
- Dr. West's Attorney: But you do admit you violently subdued him?
- Brian Cassidy: Yeah. He was trying to get away!
- Dr. West's Attorney: Because you are a loose cannon that cannot control his animal instincts.
- Brian Cassidy: Actually, the only animal in this courtroom, Counselor, is your client, Dr. West.
- Dr. West's Attorney: So all black men are animals to you?
