The West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville opened in 1876 and closed in 1995.
Robin Capehart, the producer and writer, was at the West Virginia with his mother and his sister on the night of April 3, 1959. He was 6 years old.
As a young lawyer practicing in Moundsville, Robin Capehart was appointed by the court to represent a number of the inmates at the penitentiary.
Emily Capehart, the director, funded the film through a GoFundMe campaign.
The film was shot at the West Virginia Penitentiary on November 5 - 7, 2017. There are two versions of the film: a 15 minute version that the director used for consideration for acceptance to several graduate school film programs and a 30-35 minute version that will be used for festival submission.
