Could renowned attractions such as the London Eye or the Sea Life aquariums be getting their own TV shows?
That’s part of the plan following a new partnership between Brent Montgomery’s media company Wheelhouse and Merlin Entertainment.
Under the deal, announced Thursday, Wheelhouse and Merlin will develop “original entertainment” programs inspired by the various global attractions in Merlin’s portfolio, including The London Eye and Sea Life, plus Alton Towers, Chessington’s World of Adventures and Warwick Castle. The companies said the programs developed would “span a diverse range of genres, including reality, documentary and game show.”

After The Traitors took the world by storm, high concept reality shows which aren’t about dating are hot property.
The Underdog: Josh Must Win is the latest bingeable reality show “with a twist” and it appears to be setting itself up as a series which pierces the image of the typical reality contestant in favour of elevating an average bloke called Josh, who is neither especially handsome, nor polished, nor confident and therefore is not what we have come to expect from such shows. It’s pitched as a nicer brand of reality show. But is it, really?
The set up is this: nine contestants think they are on a popularity contest called “The Favourite”, but secretly they are actually in a show called “Josh Must Win” and are being manipulated off screen by four “celebrities” – presenter Nick Grimshaw and former reality stars Vicky Pattison, Amber Gill and Pete Wicks...

The Oscars night gave us numerous surprises this year. There is much to talk about from Robert Downey Jr. and the entire Oppenheimer team’s triumph to John Cena’s bizarre entry. However, a certain part of the event has divided the fans and has raised an intense internet debate. The fans did not appreciate how Downey Jr. and Emma Stone reacted to Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh while receiving the Golden Statuettes for Best Supporting Actor and Leading Actress.

While it was meant to create wholesome moments, debates were raised online regarding Robert Downey Jr. and Emma Stone’s seemingly ignorant behaviors toward the Asian stars.

Tan France and Bobby Berk are celebrating the 2024 Academy Awards at opposing parties amid rumors of a feud.
If you missed it, in late 2023 Bobby announced that he would be departing Queer Eye, the popular Netflix series that he starred in with Tan, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness and Kamaro Brown. The rest of the castmates will continue with the show, and he has been replaced.
Earlier this year, Bobby confirmed that he and Tan had “a situation” that led to some sort of falling out. Rumors picked up speed again in March amid a report about Queer Eye that alleged Tan campaigned to get Bobby recast. He denied the allegations.
When it was time to celebrate the Oscars on Sunday (March 10), the former costars did so at different venues.

Tan France says he had nothing to do with Queer Eye colleague Bobby Berk being apparently fired and replaced on the popular Netflix series.
“Yes, I’ve heard what’s going on, and I just want to address one point real quick. My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired,” France, a co-host and fashion expert on the series, said in a Friday Instagram post.
Rumors and accusations have flown since interior designer Berk left the series and news broke he would be replaced by Jeremiah Brent for the ninth season of Queer Eye after an alleged campaign led by France.
France, who fronts the style portion of the series, insists Netflix did its own casting for Berk’s replacement and without his campaigning for Brent, as he is accused of doing. “I didn’t prop my friend up for the job.

Queer Eye‘s Tan France is setting the record straight when it comes to his involvement surrounding the hiring of his friend Jeremiah Brent in place of former cast member Bobby Berk. Taking to Instagram, the fashion expert set out to make a few points clear, “Yes, I’ve heard what’s going on, and I just want to address one point real quick,” he began to say in the video posted on Friday, March 8. “My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired.” Initial news of Berk’s exit was unveiled in November 2023 as Queer Eye‘s ninth season was announced. In January, Berk addressed his exit in an interview with Vanity Fair as he told the outlet, “Queer Eye has been the most amazing gift that I couldn’t have ever imagined. It’s been a life-changing moment… I’m...

Tan France — co-host and fashion expert on the Netflix “Queer Eye” series — has addressed the recent allegations that he pushed for the hiring of his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace former cast member and interior design expert Bobby Berk.
In a recent Rolling Stone article, sources claimed that France (with alleged support from co-host Antoni Porowski) “campaigned” for Berk to be replaced with new hire Jeremiah Brent. Brent is set to join the cast for Season 9.
“Yes, I’ve heard what’s going on, and I just want to address one point real quick,” France said in Instagram video post on Friday. “My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired.”
France continued: “Netflix and the production companies did a full-on casting. I didn’t prop my friend up for the job. They ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job.

Netflix made clear from the start that they were running a different kind of awards show.
Presenter and quasi-host Idris Elba indicated to the attended nominees that, in their speeches, they were free to let expletives fly, but that none of them should say anything “you wouldn’t say in front of Oprah.” After the SAG Awards had fully moved to streaming — after a liminal year, in 2023, in which the ceremony had aired on Netflix’s YouTube channel, preceded by a long tenure on the Turner cable networks — it felt like a sort of safe space for speaking frankly.
But shifting the script doesn’t necessarily match the priorities of actors during awards season. And while the ceremony deserves some credit for reinventing itself, its primary function was fueling the conversation about the forthcoming Oscars. In this, it provided plenty of fuel — with Lily Gladstone and Cillian Murphy winning the...

Former NBC Universal Television Entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin is taking a job as VP of unscripted series at Netflix — reporting to Netflix VP of nonfiction series Brandon Riegg. It’s a bit of a reversal for the two execs: In 2010, Riegg joined NBC as vice president of alternative series & development, reporting to the heads of alternative programming there, who in turn reported to Gaspin.
It’s a return to the executive ranks for Gaspin, who most recently ran Gaspin Media as president. It was there that his output included Netflix’s “The Tinder Swindler,” as well as its “Rhythm & Flow.” His other credits included “The First Lady.”
“Jeff is such a huge talent, with so much experience across unscripted and television in general, and I couldn’t be more excited that he’s joining us,” said Riegg. “From ‘Rhythm & Flow’ to ‘Tinder Swindler,’ he’s already been part of the...

Exclusive: Netflix has found its new unscripted chief.
The streamer has hired Jeff Gaspin as VP Unscripted Series after a search for a high-profile figure to lead its burgeoning reality business.
It comes after Deadline revealed that Jenn Levy left the company last month and Brandon Riegg, who is VP Nonfiction Series, to whom Gaspin will report, started a search for top unscripted chief.
There were plenty of big unscripted names in the running for the position and Riegg is understood to have enquired about a number of execs overseeing unscripted for the broadcast networks and major studios.
Gaspin is a big get for Netflix given that he was previously Chairman of NBC Universal Television Entertainment from 2009-11.
However, his hire is less surprising considering he has been in business with Netflix and Riegg on a number of shows. He exec produced The Tinder Swindler, a true-crime series that was...

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump declared on his social media platform that if Taylor Swift endorsed President Joe Biden, it would be an act of disloyalty.
“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act (Mma) for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,” Trump wrote on a Truth Social post. “Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will. There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money. Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis [Kelce], even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me.”

Former President Donald Trump reportedly bragged to aides that he is more popular than Taylor Swift after intense speculation by right-wing commentators that she is going to endorse President Joe Biden this year.
Swift has not issued an endorsement to any of the 2024 election candidates but endorsed Biden in 2020.
The singer made her endorsement by posting on social media a photo of a platter of homemade “Biden 2020” cookies.
Biden’s aides are hoping to sign her on as a campaign surrogate.
Some conservative commentators have floated conspiracy theories that the NFL season was rigged to offer a Super Bowl platform for the singer alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs.
An adviser close to Trump told Rolling Stone magazine that the former president’s allies are getting ready for a “holy war” against Swift.

Fans first thought there might be drama when they’d noticed Bobby unfollowed Tan.
He added, “Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”

Featuring over 70 episodes and two specials, Netflix‘s Queer Eye has been captivating viewers since it first premiered in 2018.
The show follows five LGBTQ advisors as they attempt to improve someone’s life over the span of a week by using their respective areas of expertise. Food and wine expert Antoni Porowski handles culinary education. Designer Bobby Berk does home renovations. Fashion guru Tan France tackles the wardrobe. Grooming genius Jonathan Van Ness gives the makeover. Culture and lifestyle chief Karamo Brown guides them through the whole journey.
A reboot of the 2003 Bravo reality series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, this more modern Queer Eye doesn’t (always) rely on the novelty of put-together gay men “fixing” slovenly straight guys. Instead it often digs deeper into its subjects’ lives and uses its stars natural empathy to help unpack everyday folks’ issues and ultimately instill confidence. As you might expect,...

Queer Eye Season 8 is Bobby Berk‘s last. The interior designer announced his impending departure from the Emmy-winning Netflix reality series when Queer Eye was renewed for Season 9 in November 2023. Now, Berk has revealed why he’s really leaving the show. Berk gave an interview about his final Queer Eye season to Vanity Fair just before Season 8 premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, January 24. “Queer Eye has been the most amazing gift that I couldn’t have ever imagined. It’s been a life-changing moment,” he told the outlet. “I’m leaving something that is a huge part of my life. Even though it’s my decision, it still wasn’t an easy one.” A supposed feud between Berk and co-star/fashion expert Tan France is rumored to be the cause of Berk’s exit. “I hope this interview will help extinguish some of the speculation,” he said of those rumors.
