Fergie decided to make this film after long delays to release her sophomore album Double Dutchess, which was released 11 years since the release of her debut solo record. She felt she needed to give the audience "the whole package", so she had videos which were already filmed incorporated into a full, brand new movie.
The locations for "A Little Work" includes a church full of graffiti. It was found by director 'Jonas Akerlund' and was going to be torn down, but they managed to still use it for the video.
The interview throughout the 'A Little Work' segment was done by director 'Jonas Akerlund' in his home in about an hour.

The film premiered exclusively in iPic Theaters all across the United States for a one night-only event. They also showed a previously recorded Q&A with Fergie, totaling 100 minutes.
