Surprisingly Well Done
fake_moviestar12 May 2020
I finished My Country: The New Age on Netflix and wanted to watch something else with the fantastic Do-Hwan Woo in it, and this was something that looked promising. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this show, as the premise initially sounded quite boring. An insurance scam? Insurance fraud workers? How exciting could it be? As I said, I watched this purely for Do-Hwan, who was definitely the main draw as his character was irresistibly charismatic which masked a deeper, darker part of himself. The other characters definitely grew on me, and the story kept me interested enough to finish. I think its worth a watch, especially if you are a fan of Do-Hwan. His cocky attitude and the love/hate relationships he has with the members of Mad Dog are definitely the best parts!

Mad Dag
Tweekums2 October 2021
Following the death of his wife and son in a plane crash Choi Kang-woo, former leader of Taeyang Insurance's investigators team, sets up his own team, called 'Mad Dog' that will investigate fraudsters using methods that bend the law somewhat. Two years later he crosses paths with Kim Min-joon, a former fraudster whose brother was the pilot who had according to official reports deliberately crashed the plane. Min-joon believes his brother was innocent and wants Mad Dog to help uncover the truth. Initially they don't trust him but soon they uncover evidence that something is wrong at the airline and insurance company; something certain individuals will go to great lengths to keep secret.

This was a really enjoyable series. There was a good sense of drama, plenty of twists and turns and a real sense of danger at times. There was also plenty of humour which was unforced and didn't get in the way of the story. The 'Mad Dog' team was full of fun and varied characters. The villains are suitably villainous... if airline vice president Joo Hyun-gi had a moustache I'm sure he'd have twirled it! Instead he made do with wearing his tie in a peculiar way. There is lots of scheming as our protagonists work to uncover the truth and the villains seek to hide it or shift the blame onto somebody else. The cast is solid bringing some humour to their roles without getting silly. Overall a solid series that is well worth watching.

These comments are based on watching the series in Korean with English subtitles.

The insurance scam story I just heard. CRAZY FUN!!!
cintnabizz6 February 2021
A world of insurance scams I've never seen before. it's FUN and the best. After I watched My Country: New Age played by Woo Do Hwan it was a pale and handsome young man who had charmed me. I decided to watch Mad Dog because there is Woo Do, who this time is a man who is good at hacking computers and a con artist. In terms of character, it is quite interesting and epic to make me not stop watching Min Joon. interaction with Kang Woo between hate, love in colleagues to willing to work together and willing to sacrifice to bear heavy things for Min Joon and his late family. I really like the drama Mad Dog and deserve a high rating.

Overall Enjoyable
Chaokage8 June 2021
I grew quite fond of Korean crime genre. They tend to provide excellent stories with complicated intertwining plot. What I love about this genre is the never ending give and take and creative schemes from both the fighting parties. Mad Dog is all that and more with shocking reveals and hints of romance between Woo Do-Hwan and Ryu Hwa-young, who really was the undeniable beauty of this series. The ending was really good and a great way to end the series on a satisfying and fulfilling note. It was really cool to watch. A must watch!!!

Good and entertaining crime kdrama
hanalisss5 February 2023
This feels exactly like 2017 kdrama, and if you are fan of kdrama you understand what I mean. Current dramas have increased HUGELY their quality since 2018/2019 and they keep getting better and better.

Its good enough and entertaining but you can see the twists and plots a bit earlier than they actually happen. Low budget script with many holes but good enough for you to overlook them.

Woo Do-Hwan is an amazing actor ( he is also extremely hot in this) and I adored him on Tempted, The King and My Country and I thought his performances there were too notch ( specially The kings double character which he nailed) but maybe this drama because its an earlier one i can seem to see owning his character, maybe im overthinking it but i see many expression that doesn't seem natural.

Rest of the cast is good and experienced, the only ones I have seen little about are the two younger secondary leads from their team.

I think this is okay for an afternoon where you don't know what to watch and this will do the job but there's too many good thrilling crime dramas better than this one.

European style tie
alaningle77 November 2021
The most annoying thing about this drama is the main baddie wears his tie in what is called the "European style" and if you like symmetry once you watched it you will understand what I mean. Anyway the drama centres around a team of people who investigate insurance fraud but there main aim is to uncover the truth about a plane crash which killed their leaders wife and child. It is an interesting story line which is well acted but I failed to bond with the characters and their frustrating relationship in the beginning which led to the deaths of people.

Could have been better
wheatley-202309 December 2023
This series is driven by the machinations of 3 baddies, who successfully keep the heroes and ourselves guessing. In particular, Choi Won-young was very good value.

It is a shame, then, that the goodies did not achieve the same success. Although I have seen the actors playing them elsewhere and appreciate their talents, these did not gel in this series. This may be because the writers were more concerned with sparky dialogue than with believable characters and relationships that you can invest in.

As a result it was sometimes hard to maintain the level of interest necessary to follow the convoluted plot.

Nevertheless I have decided that that is better than a score of 5. It's not scintillating but I did stick with it until the end and do not regret doing so.

Have an all techno-scientist-hacker who has all the technological nous to back up their team.

Warning: Spoilers
Review: Mad Dog (2017)

Some great and interesting actors are on this one so it could be pretty good. Looking forward to watching it.

It is so good.

* Yoo Ji-tae as Choi Kang-woo / Mad Dog An ex-cop and leader of the Mad Dog team. He has good eyes, sharp instinct which helps him achieve a 99% arrest rate. After meeting Kim Beom-joon's brother, he developed suspiciousness of his wife and son's death and decided to re-investigate the case.

Mad Dog Choi Kang Woo who is head Insurance's investigators team. In his team he has: Ryu Hwa YoungJang Ha Ri She plays the role of a support to Mad Dog who is head of an Insurance's investigators team. She use to work with him as a cop in the past and they both moved to Taeyang Insurance's investigators team, until Mad Dog decides to create his own investigation team. She is loyal to him and their colleagues.

Jo Jae YoonPark Soon Jung I really like the part he is playing in this drama because I have only seen him as a villain in other dramas. So it's a nice change to see him in this role. He is charming, adorable and endearing. He is also a hard man who has many contacts that he can call on to back up their team.

Kim Hye SungOn Noo Ri Here is the know it all techno-scientist-hacker who has all the technological nous to back up their team. He is their computer expert. But the computer expert has a dad who is on the wrong side of their plans and schemes.

Then there is Woo Do HwanKim Min Joon / Jan Gebauer This actor whom I really like is intriguing. At the beginning he seems like a villain a scammer. I'm tempted to go find a review of this drama. He is his own undercover investigator. He doesn't believe that his brother who was a copilot on a plane crashed it as a suicide. He is trying to prove that theory. So he clashes with Mad dog and his team. He is not sure who side he's on apart from his own ideas and plans.

They are all trying to work out the truth of what happened to this plane. Mad Dog's son and wife was killed in the plane crash.

The story itself is pretty twisted and you needed to review so that you get it straight into your mind as it tangles it was through the lives of the villains and all of the supporting characters as the main character weave their way towards to finding out what really happened.

You ask yourself. Why did the wife and son get on the plane?

Who were the ones that made the plane crash?

What is the role of each of these individuals that assisted in making sure the plane crashed?

Why did they do that? Was it because of money? Or was it because of Power? Then what about revenge? Does this play some part? What about regret? Who benefits the most?

So many questions you want answered.

Barely passable
Park_Min27 May 2023
This drama falls into the realm of being passable, but not much more than that. While the first two episodes succeeded in establishing an intriguing backstory, subsequent episodes failed to maintain a consistently engaging narrative. A clearer direction was lacking, as the drama attempted to blend various genres, resulting in a somewhat disjointed experience. The cast was a mix of half-decent performers and others who fell into the realm of generic and unremarkable. Characters such as Noo Ri and Soon Jung, for example, could easily be replaced with anyone from any team investigation drama and it wouldn't matter. Furthermore, in terms of team dynamics, there was a noticeable absence of a genuine connection. With the exception of the two main guys, the remaining members felt more like background extras in a team project.

I'm not sorry to say I watched simply because the lead actors were easy on the eyes, particularly Yoo Ji-Tae who, for me, is the perfect tall, langy and handsome leading man. Those lips!! Anyway, the plot itself is pretty generic and wasn't as captivating as I'd expected; nevertheless, it was good enough to while away a few hours.
