A nice and charming video

A sort of phenomenon hit of Mike + The Mechanics in here that still gets plenty of space in adult radios yet despite being a fan of the group it never conquered me totally. Not sure why (maybe it's because is far too repetitive in sound), though I tend to listen when it pops in here and there. Just recently I've watched the music video and I was surprised by how charming and effective it is even though it gives me some déja vù feels about it (though not sure exactly where I had seen this idea before). Lots of fun, anyway.

Here, the group had some problem with their vehicle while going on route to their next gig but they are rescued by a family living on a cabin. While the father (Richard Belzer) is hesitant at first since the group just popped out of nowhere inside their cabin, he accepts them there since his kids are big fans of the group and end up disrupting the musicians act in the living room. Simply lovely and they all join spend the night there and wake up to a nice barbecue.

As usual with many groups from the period, more than just making a music video showing the song being performed, there's room for small bits with dialogue (Roy Kinnear appears early on as the band's manager and Belzer has some moments as well). I'm not much sure if this particular song fits with the cute idea of kids having fun with their favorite group, but it's easy to fall for its charm. Nice in several ways. 8/10.
