The little girl in the missing poster near the park swings, Francine Wexler, is actually director Chris R. Notarile's mother, Barbara Glicker-Notarile.
The makeup in Krueger: Tales from Elm Street was designed to be less elaborate and more realistic. It combines the look of a real burn victim with gaps in the face. It is not modeled after any makeup worn by Robert Englund or Jackie Earle Haley.
Several journalists and bloggers have suggested that this film be used to teach children the dangers of talking to strangers.
Other locations for the film were in Long Beach, California and Pasadena, California where the original Halloween (1978) film was shot. After filming wrapped for the day, the cast and crew visited the houses of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.
"Krueger: Tales from Elm Street" was partially filmed at 1428 N. Genesee Ave. in Hollywood, that original Elm Street house. There is also a shot of Roberto Lombardi (as Freddy Krueger) walking in front of "Glenn's" house, which is right across from "Nancy's" house on the same street.
