Quotes

  • [first lines]

Kara Danvers : I know some of you are scared. I know some of you have never done this before. I know some of you are ready to get out there and prove yourselves. But just remember why we do this. We do this for the people.

[Winn holds up a microphone; cut to them at a karaoke bar]

  • Mon-El : Hey, can we talk real quick? It's, uh, kind of important.

Winn Schott : [on stage]  Here we go.

Kara Danvers : Yeah, yeah. Of course. In a second. Uh, Winn's about to melt our faces off.

  • Supergirl : [as a bomb in Winn, Sr's casket explodes]  Everybody, get down!

Mary McGowan : Bastard always wanted to go out with a bang.

  • Mary McGowan : Sorry about the mess.

Supergirl : Oh, this? This is... that's not your fault.

Mary McGowan : Can I ask, uh, when it comes to your day-to-day, on a scale of one to ten, how big of a pain in the ass are flying monkeys?

    Supergirl : Maybe a two.

    Mary McGowan : Oh.

Supergirl : Does that make you feel better?

Mary McGowan : Yes. Very much so.

  • Supergirl : I hate to ask, but I have to.

Winn Schott : He's dead, Kara.

    Supergirl : Are you sure?

Winn Schott : He's dead! Look, I had the warden and two separate medical examiners sign off on the body. I had them cross-check his dental records and his fingerprints, just to be sure. The dude in the box was my father, okay?

Supergirl : So why blow himself up at his own funeral?

James Olsen : Maybe for the headline.

Winn Schott : Yeah. "Toyman's last trick." Sounds about right.

J'onn J'onzz : I still think we should run a full mass spectrometry on the explosive residue, Winn. It may tell us who's helping your father.

Winn Schott : No one is helping him! Seriously, he was a crazy person. Crazy people do crazy things. Like, oh, I don't know, mass murder.

  • Mary McGowan : I always knew he was brilliant and capable, but I worried when I left that he'd go the same way his dad did.

Supergirl : He worried about that, too.

Mary McGowan : I should have been here to tell him that he and his father were worlds apart. Did his friends tell him?

    Supergirl : We did.

Mary McGowan : Thank you for that.

Supergirl : Well, it was easy. He doesn't always get the credit, but... he keeps us going around here. He's always the one with some crazy idea that no one else would possibly dream of.

Mary McGowan : My son works with Supergirl. It's just such a relief. He saves lives. I just wish he'd let me tell him how proud I am of him.

Supergirl : I think he will. Eventually.

  • Jacqueline Nimball : I have your mother, but you can trade your life for hers. She's hanging around at the old Wiggins Game Company factory. But hurry, Junior, the pressure is on.

Mary McGowan : Winn, don't come here.

    Supergirl : I'll go.

    Mon-El : Me, too.

Winn Schott : Not without me.

James Olsen : That's exactly what she wants.

Winn Schott : I've spent my entire life trying to fight off the part of me that's like my dad, but now... now I can use it. Let's go.

  • Mon-El : [finishing "Carry On Wayward Son"]  So, how bad was that? That was...

    [Kara hands him a beer]

    Mon-El : Thank you.

Kara Danvers : I would just say maybe, um, maybe you should sing Kansas for yourself and not for other people.

  • Kara Danvers : I'm really sorry you're hurting, that really sucks, but I can't be the one to talk to you about this. It's... it's something you and Imra have to deal with between the two of you, and I don't think she'd like you talking to me about her. And, frankly, it doesn't really feel great for me. So... that's that.

    Mon-El : I totally get it.

    Kara Danvers : Really?

Mon-El : But just so you, I wasn't actually gonna talk about Imra. I mean, not about my feelings. But I felt like you needed to know what she did, and why she did it, 'cause it-it directly affects you.

  • Mon-El : The Legion didn't land here by accident.

Kara Danvers : Wait, I thought you hit a... disruption.

Mon-El : Yeah, we did, but Brainy and Imra hit it intentionally. And they hid the real mission from me because they didn't trust that I'd wanna come back to this time.

Kara Danvers : What's the mission?

Mon-El : Well, the third Worldkiller, the one you haven't found yet, Pestilence. In a thousand years, she evolves into Blight.

    Kara Danvers : Whoa.

Mon-El : Yeah, so if we can find her now, in this time, then we can save everyone, today and in the future. And, look, we have a common enemy now, so we can work together.

Kara Danvers : But our common enemy has been your enemy for years, so I got a lot to learn from you.

  • Kara Danvers : What was that back there with the T-Rex?

    Mon-El : Cape tricks.

    Kara Danvers : Cape tricks?

Mon-El : My old Legion uniform had one.

Kara Danvers : Well, I've been fighting with a cape for three years, and all it seems to do is get in the way.

Mon-El : I can help with that, if you want.

Kara Danvers : I'd like that.

  • Kara Danvers : Why haven't you worn your old suit?

Mon-El : Yeah, it got damaged on Rimbor, and it's a long story, so...

Kara Danvers : Well, I know someone who could fix it, if you want.

  • Supergirl : [watching Alex and M'yrnn leave]  Go, go be with them. The analysis will take hours. I'll stay here.

    J'onn J'onzz : What about the Worldkillers?

Supergirl : Alex has every available agent looking for them. Go eat.

  • Mon-El : I owe you an apology.

    Supergirl : For what?

Mon-El : When we were together, I never really got how it must have been for you to find out that I had been lying. About being Daxam's prince, about a lot of stuff. And I am sorry that I did that to you.

Supergirl : I do really appreciate you saying that.

    Mon-El : Of course.

    Supergirl : Are you okay?

Mon-El : Uh... Yeah. Imra... Imra lied to me. About, um... about something big with Legion business, and Brainy was in on it, too.

    Supergirl : Oh. Wow.

Mon-El : Yeah. When your wife conspires with your best friend...

Supergirl : It feels like garbage.

Mon-El : Can we, uh... can we get a drink later? After all the Winn stuff is handled, I mean. There are some things that I think you should know.

  • James Olsen : What the hell is that?

Mary McGowan : It's a message. For me.

[they see a skywriting message reading "Surrender, Mary"]

James Olsen : Is that a wicked witch?

Supergirl : No. Is it flying monkeys?

  • Supergirl : [the DEO is besieged by flying monkeys]  I'll take the big one, you take the little ones.

James Olsen : I am so glad I don't work here.

  • Supergirl : [deleted scene]  Mon-El's using the sparring room.

    Alex Danvers : It's a big gym.

Supergirl : I... just don't feel like seeing him right now.

Alex Danvers : Did something happen?

Supergirl : No. He's mad at Imra, and... uh... asked me to go for a drink.

    Alex Danvers : A drink, or a...

    [meaningfully:]

    Alex Danvers : drink?

Supergirl : No, it's nothing like that. It's not...

    Alex Danvers : So, it's a problem...?

Supergirl : I just don't really feel like hearing about his wife. Even as a friend.

Alex Danvers : Tell him that.

Supergirl : What? That I don't wanna be his friend? I do.

Alex Danvers : No, just tell him that... the only people that really understand a relationship are the ones that are in it. It's not good to get into the middle.

    [shakes her head, walks off]

    Supergirl : Yeah.
